doug, you go over and hang out with danielle. will you? danielle: and i've got this on. it feels like spring break because it's warm. doug: isn't it nice. danielle: i'm enjoying it. we are in the 50's or going to the 50's, not there yet. we will be for this afternoon. i do want to talk about something though. with the mild air comes the chances for some rain. the first chances actually coming tomorrow late morning into early afternoon. then again late night on tuesday. this will become steady, heavy rain on wednesday. widespread too so everybody is impacted. and it could even end as some light snow especially the farther north and west you are. more on that chance a little bit. but first that rain for tomorrow morning coming from this cold front. this area of low pressure you see right now. we already have some snow showers ongoing in parts of northern vermont. closer to southern new england, just some clouds out there today but we're going to see these clouds break apart later this

because not every model is indicating this yet. it's still several days out. there is one of our models that we trust in the wintertime. it is showing the potential for a coastal storm to develop and strengthen and it will be cold enough to support all snow pretty much for our area. this could be accumulating snow starting friday afternoon into saturday morning, the best bet, of course, was the coastal storm would be southeastern mass. of course, as we're still seven days out we're going to continue to fine tune that forecast. in the meantime let's just settle in on those 50's. karen and doug. doug: a good idea. karen: we'll take it. 8:17. stories we're following right now. doug: three middle school girls in florida are now charged with trying to poison their teacher. police say one of the girls distracted the teacher while the other two put crushed red pepper in her soda. after taking a drink, the teacher began choking and experienced shortness of breath. police say the 12-year-olds were angry because one of them was disciplined by that teacher.

hollywood. mark rylance, up for best supporting actor for "bridge of spies," is a supporter of palestinian causes. rylance says he won't accept any gift; but most other nominees have been silent about the swag bag and the controversy. and of course, you can watch it all right here tonight. coverage of the 88th academy awards starts at 7:00. >> now your storm team 5 forecast with meteorologist danielle vollmar. doug: i know we're going to be talking weather but i'm rooting for sly stallone tonight. i'm hoping he wins. danielle: he needs the spotlight. all right. we know what else we can pick is this weather. it's fabulous. this morning there's a little bit of clouds. it's cooler. but by the afternoon, folks, you're going to thank me. 52 degrees to the mid 50's in some locations. mid to upper 50's for your monday. tuesday right around 50 degrees and in the upper 40's on

remember, we should be running around 31 degrees this time of year. so anything above that is above average. and in the month of february, we've been above average. in fact, running about two degrees above average. even though yesterday was below average. today we'll make it up for it as well as tomorrow. probably going to finish out this season pretty warm. for that winter. as you look at boston right now, it is shaking, the camera, that is, because the winds are out of the south and west at 11. you can feel those winds pretty much all day long. creating a bit of a wind chill so it feels more like 30 degrees in boston right now. but as we get towards, say, 2:00 or so, more sunshine appears. that should help warm our temperatures up into the low to even mid 50's in a lot of spots. 55 waltham. 54 degrees in burlington. 54 in lowell. in fact, in bedford, it will be 54 degrees and tomorrow around the same temperature. then on tuesday still in the low 50's but notice there is a chance of some rain tomorrow. we're going to talk more about

now, through the interior, we're talking low 50's to mid 50's. low to mid 50's along the south shore, too. the only exception is the cape and the islands may stay in the upper 40's today but it's a mix of sun and clouds becoming more sunny as we head through the afternoon. here is that next rain chance, i talked about for monday. it's a cold front, area of low pressure. so it kind of looks like this but 8:00 in the morning a couple of showers maybe out in western mass, southern vermont. but by 11:00 or 12:00, they've now entered metro west. boston is up next around lunchtime or so, 1:00. then southeastern mass may see a couple more through the early afternoon hours before we clear out. then we watch this second cold front. this will bring in cooler air and turn those winds to the north and west for tuesday. you're going to feel them because they'll pick up in intensity. then we watch this area of low pressure here to the south. this is going to be gaining some strength and a lot of moisture from the gulf of mexico so this

maker coming in overnight tuesday into wednesday. so let's time everything out for you. again you notice i say mostly rain because what happens is it's going to start off as rain as it goes right over us. then the second wave will develop along it, bringing in a more steady period of rain but also bringing down colder air which means i think north and west of boston or actually worcester, i think, is where you could see a brief period of some snow at the tail end of it. not looking for much. if anything at all in terms of accumulation. then on friday, we are watching the potential for some snow accumulation. this is from a coastal storm, of course, remember, this is five or six days out now. a lot can change. not every model is indicating this. one of the ones we do trust is showing the potential for a strengthening storm to come by our coastline and as it does it will be cold to support snow. looks like maybe friday afternoon into saturday. it could be accumulating snow, believe it or not, for some.
