harv, you are tracking some changes. m assuming we are going from the 40' s? harvey: if you are talking about next week, that might actually happen, but it will warm up late tonight into tomorrow morning but it does not last. we have a storm coming. rain, a mix and snow. not towards us. but, that little bit of a mix of sleet or freezing rain could affect northern western the storm itself is on the way, so is the precipitation but in a warm southerly wind makes it mostly a rain situation. advisory for a time late tonight. 1:00 a.m. illustrates freezing rain to the northwest. it might linger until the morning, it will be mild enough for rain.

right around the freezing mark. that is why there could be a couple of hours of sleet or freezing rain but it is a lot warmer by morning. the wind advisory goes into effect as the southerly winds intensify late tonight and early tomorrow. 40 to 50 mile-per-hour gusts. we will talk about temperature changes and even a bit of snow is in the forecast, coming up. heather: two new hampshire seacoast communities in shock tonight after a deadly car crash that claimed two young lives. a third victim is in critical condition in boston tonight. newscenter 5' s ed harding joins us with more on this developing story. ed: heather, new hampshire state police are calling the crash scene horrific. it happened last night in the small town of kensington, about 15 miles south of portsmouth. investigators say three young men were ejected from this suv when they lost control taking a curve on route 108 around 10:00 p.m. the vehicle slammed into mailboxes and trees before rolling over several times.

hunter vars were pronounced dead at the scene. transported to boston medical center this morning with all three attended exeter high school. >> it is not just the high school that feels this. it is the elementary school, siblings and others schools. teachers that have gone around. teachers get so connected to their kids. we have to be mindful of that. ed: all three men grew up in kensington and the principal says the two men who lost their lives were soccer standouts with bright futures. and the young man fighting for his life here in boston is a well-known hockey player who volunteered for special olympics. two communities pulling for him tonight. ed harding, newscenter 5. phil: 5 on the opioid crisis. new hampshire politicians continuing their efforts to help those on the front lines. senators jeanne shaheen and today. the two called for a vote to provide emergency funding to first responders who are also treatment providers.

repeat, the anthem of the seas is heading home early again. damage after being caught and hurricane force winds weeks ago, it is now racing back to its port in new jersey to beat a severe storm, not because 10 people a day are reporting symptoms of nora virus. >> you had to walk by the medical facility to walk off the boat. it was jampacked, standing room only, full of people. we were like whoa. elizabeth: the cruise line maintains a severe storm is to blame. norovirus in a small percentage of 6000 passengers did not affect the decision to return. >> three people i' m traveling with have shown some symptoms. elizabeth: weeks ago, the ship took a beating from waves and wind, forcing passengers to hunker down. >> it is coming above the window. it looks like we were in an

elizabeth: the cruise line offered full refunds and discounts on a future trip but some of those passengers have filed suits. this time around, the cruise ship is arriving two days early to avoid a major storm. it is expected to dock sometime wednesday. phil: a bus destroyed after catching fire at a san francisco gas station. take a look at these pictures. you can see the flames reached the top building. plumes of black smoke filling the area. the fire department says the driver of the bus parked at the pump. that' s when he saw smoke coming from the engine and went inside to call his boss. seconds later, the fire broke out. one of the tire explosions was so powerful, a firefighter was blown backwards. >> i told the customers to get out of here, thinking the place might explode. i was not worried about the fire itself, but more about the explosion. phil: gas station workers quickly turned off gas flow to the pumps, stopping the entire

heather: andrews says the hotel should have notified her about the stalker specifically asking for the room next to her. she is now suing for $75 million. phil: take a look at this -- a truck dangles over the edge of a colorado highway, nearly plunging into the river below. this happened yesterday morning. investigators say the driver swerved to avoid hitting something in the road and ended up here. the driver managed to get himself out. he has been cited for careless driving. heather: that truck was precariously perched. phil: indeed. 42 degrees right now and you say changes are coming temperature wise. harvey: we are coming off a very changeable month in february where it was as warm as 65 on february 1. we all remember when boston was -9. what a valentines that was. that was the coldest and 57 years.

in february in boston. for the winter season, it is not above average. it is still running below average because we did not have much in december and january. compared to last winter, it will pale in comparison by a large margin. it is time to move ahead to the month. of march the average high temperature was 42. by the end of the month, 51. look at the sunset -- we are only a week and a half away from springing forward. that will be getting later for the sunset. let' s show you what is happening right now around the region. we have this cold air in southern and around the great lakes so it is making a snowstorm across michigan which will go into parts of canada. we have the warm air that will flood back in. it is 64 in pittsburgh and 60 in washington.

phil: a plan to put salt warnings on restaurant menus in new york city is now on hold. it was supposed to go into effect today, but a judge issued a temporary stay monday after the national restaurant association challenged the rule. it calls for restaurants to put a triangle next to items that contain more than the recommended daily amount of sodium. they could be fined up to $600 for not complying.

will stop selling energy drinks in an effort to curb what the school says is problematic behavior. starting next week, the college will no longer sell drinks like red bull and five-hour energy on campus. the school claims the drinks are linked to high-risk sexual activity, poor academic environments and elevated student stress levels. students and staff will still be allowed to bring the drinks on campus, they just will not be sold at the school. heather: you already know smoking and obesity are linked to an unhealthy heart, but what about your job? a new cdc study finds certain jobs are linked with risk factors for heart disease. this was a study of over 5000 people. management and finance professionals tended to have a healthy weight, but nearly three in four reported an unhealthy diet. police officers among the worst when it comes to high blood pressure. and nearly seven in 10 people working in sales had unhealthy cholesterol levels.

the train operator is at fault. ed: only on 5, we' re hearing from that operator. newscenter 5' s john atwater is live in braintree. john: this is the first time we are hearing from the operator since his train took off without him from this stopped last december. investigators say it was a simple rig, a microphone cord wrapped around the throttle of the train. it took the flip of a switch and the train took off at 25 miles per hour with nobody at the controls. they blame the operator, david vasquez, who lost his job after the frightening episode. did you hear about this report that came out? >> yes. john: is there anything you want people to know? >> no. john: it seems counterintuitive to wrap the court and flip the switch. >> of course it is. john: no signal problems prompted him to get approval to

bypass mode which required him leaving the cad and flipping this switch under the front of the train. investigators recommend moving the switch to a safer spot inside the train but they point the finger squarely at him for wrapping the cord around the controls and not setting a brake. you did see that the cord was around the throttle? >> it was a different situation. john: the brake apparently was not engaged. >> i cannot talk about that. john: the t has made some changes since this happened in december. a second person will now have to be present when the trains are put into this emergency bypass mode. john atwater, wcvb newscenter 5. ed: let' s take you live to west roxbury. two hours of voting left this super tuesday and that is a very active polling place. massachusetts could set some records, especially among republicans. heather: right now, there are seven candidates left.
