grown over that spot. >> wow! >> i knew he was a big red sox fan. >> two dogs on the mend tonight. >> we head over to harvey, who may be giving us rain in the forecast. harv: the dog days are over? >> very good. i tell you, we may get a lot of rain. sometimes it's feast or famine but first things first. logan airport where the records are kept. hit 90 today. it will go in the books as a six day heat wave in boston. the chances are, you did reach or see 90 today, as you can see, many, many areas all around the shoreline did. but the sea breeze prevented that from happening in boston. it set up early enough and out there now. 80 at logan. easterly winds at 60. you see the wind direction coming in from the east and down along the cape from the south which also acts as a sea breeze so the entire shoreline is somewhat cooler but inland areas still toasty.
6:16 pm
93 in fitchburg. 80 in boston. 76 in chatham. 76 in nantucket. 80 degrees right now in hyannis. tonight, more humid than last night. bottoming out around 70 or low 70s for boston. 60s in the cooler spots but tomorrow, i don't expect a sea breeze. i expect a southwest wind and that will take boston back up over 90. some places, it will be the eighth day in a row that that will be happening. southwest winds keep itle on the cape. so it will be in the low 80s or so there. but it looks like another good beach day. use plenty of sun screen and high tide is coming up tomorrow. actually early and late so low tide that's right around lunch time. >> two changes. first of all in terms of truly breaking the heat, it will take this front to cross the region. which will kind of happen later tomorrow night and during the day on friday. while that's happening, some southern moisture will be trying to lift northward. the question is, because this is
6:17 pm
heavier and heavier with time, how much of that will come all the way up to us or will some of it city a little bit to the south? that's going to be the key to the forecast. but as i show you here you do have sunshine through tomorrow morning. late tomorrow, keep an eye to the sky especially north and west of the boston there. could be a few showers or thunderstorms popping up. then when we get to friday, the swath of rain should approach from the southwest and move in. but will the heaviest be along the south coast? will it also envelope played out. it looks like it clears out for saturday which looks like the more dependable of the two weekend days because another system could start to affect us later sunday into early monday. here's another look at some of the heavy rain that we're talking about here. we could get localized flooding with these heaviest rain patches during friday into friday night. a couple of different computer models showing how much rain could fall. one to three-inch potential.
6:18 pm
localized flooding. another one showing the very heaviest would be connecticut, rhode island, more toward southeastern massachusetts and one more showing that idea, that southern connecticut, southern rhode island, cape cod could, get the very heaviest rain. but we sill have one or two computer models trying to keep the heaviest south of everybody and making the rainfall more modest but this is the best opportunity that i have seen in quite a while to get appreciable rainfall here. that's friday and friday night. so check it out. once that happens, then truly the 9 period and later sunday into monday could be one more little rain event and it looks like pleasant seasonable weather set up monday afternoon and well into next week. >> take a look. dramatic pictures as player arrests an armed robbery suspect. it was all caught on camera. >> mary reports, suspect did not go down without a fight. >> the store owner declined an

6:20 pm
belichick answered some questions about tom brady's suspension. >> if you thought he would give some version of -- we're moving on to cincinnati he did. >> we're going forward. >> but that was later, when his patience was wearing thin. before that and without being asked he answered thoughtfully and completely. >> tom will return as the starting quarterback, when he comes back, but in the we have to prioritize the first part of our schedule, and that will be to get garoppolo ready to go. >> no one for speculation he admitted he never really dealt with deflate gate because it was all kind of up in the air. now with some clarity he was willing to discuss the matter somewhat. it's been some version of litigation, appeal, appeal,
6:21 pm
goes. it's been in the same place foryear and a half. basically. so, there is definition to it now. we'll move forward based on that definition. >> that leaves the patriots in a position of trying to get jimmy garoppolo ready for week one and tom brady ready for week five. how do you accomplish that during training camp? >> our philosophy will remain unchanged for a while here, you know in terms of repetitions because we usually split them up pretty evenly. >> and that work begins tomorrow when the patriots hold their wcvb, sportscenter 5. >> this afternoon at fenway the tigers completed a sweep of the red sox who finished the home stand 4-5. now head out west for 11 games. if things head south this season we'll all point to the past nine games at fenway park. soccer jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first. pedroia with a solo shot. beautiful, brilliant sunshine. sunshine that may have cost the red sox the game in the ninth. we'll get to that in a moment.
6:22 pm
3-1 in the seventh inning. bogaerts launches his 12th of the year. be tts just turns on the jets. hits it to the deepest part of the ballpark. scores. triple. 3-3. so we go to the ninth inning, and the red sox bring on brad zeigler. he gets the first and second out but cabrera comes up and hits one. watch what happens. it goes to right field. this is the toughest place to play at this time ofay there is not an outfielder in major league baseball who could make this catch. unfortunately. here's are the standings are. the blue jays lost this afternoon. baltimore is playing tonight. they win, the sox 3 1/2 out, lose, 2 1/2 out. they will be in anaheim tomorrow night against the angels and the newest member of the red sox, backes, threw out the first
