our mary saladna has the breaking information from mashpee. mary ?after 7 tense hours, this -- mary? mary: the sheriff is not releasing the name of the man tonight love that he confirms that he will face -- tonight, but he confirms that he will face charges. after 7 tense hours, this 41-year-old falmouth man finally surrendered to police, and was quickly taken to falmouth hospital for a psych evaluation. noon, when police were asked to do a wellness check on the man at a local business on route 28, audio visual solutions. the man quickly barricaded himself inside, and threatened to shoot himself and police. route 28 was shutdown, nearby businesses evacuated, and crisis negotions began a long and challenging dialogue with the suspect. >> at one point in the late afternoon, the suspect fired a round from inside the business. the situation escalated and he said that he was armed with an

thousands of ammunition. mary: friends and family assisted in the negotiations, and at 7:30 p.m. tonight police coaxed the man out of the building, he surrendered peacefully. mary: it is still not clear of the suspect was aiming for police when he fired that shot, or if he was just agitated. jc: also breaking tonight, two people are seriously injured after a rollover crash involving a pedestrian in abington. police tell us the car struck a pedestrian on green street intersection of brockton avenue and mill street. the driver of that car, 43-year-old duane seaquist, now under arrest for operating under the influence. abington police say the pedestrian was taken to tufts medical center by helicopter. seaquist was brought to a boston hospital. and also breaking, cruise on the

leave. mayor walsh promising a full accounting to the family of 7-year-old kyzr willis. our shaun chaiyabhat is live in south boston with where the investigation stands now. shaun: this community center has been closed all day long and you can see behind me flowers have , now been left at the door, mourning this little boy's death. the city and police are offering very few answers. but they are promising a thorough investigation. shaun: the final moments of ky community center tuesday. his body pulled from the water hours later, roughly 15 yards from shore off carson beach. a tragedy mayor marty walsh vows should never happen again. >> to make sure that nothing like this tragedy ever happens again in the city of boston. shaun: the city said there is no security video here, leaving the boy's family with many questions. they say willis went to change in a bathroom alone.

he was reportedly last seen around 2:15. but it was 30 minutes before police were called. an investigation is still unraveling the timeline and witness accounts. >> you can imagine we had a lot of kids telling us different things. so it was hard to sort out exactly what happened. but i know we tried our hardest. shaun: -- shaun: relatives want to know how the camp staff responded. the mayor paid respects to the boy's grieving family, but offered few answers less than 24 he said 56 kids showed up to the day camp tuesday, supervised by 28 staff. and while the mayor did not place blame, the director of the curley community center is now on paid leave. an interim director has been named as the investigation continues. shaun: and the mayor said the city is now reviewing protocol for all 36 community centers. live in south boston, shaun chaiyabhat, wcvb 5.

she is back in the news. she is the former new hampshire school teacher serving a life sentence for plotting her husband's murder. she is now suing her jailers. smart says she was wrongly put into solitary confinement. her lawsuit against new york state also says prison wardens called her names, including jason and buffy the vampire slayer. and she was allegedly allowed only 3 showers per week. we have learned tonight that one person died in a plane crash that happened two weeks ago in westwood. the ntsb says the passenger in the plane had fatal injuries. the small plane went down in the woods as it was trying to land the pilot was also seriously hurt. jc: this "black lives matter" banner flying from somerville city hall will stay there. mayor joe curtatone says it's possible to support minority residents and the police. he says city hall also features a banner supporting slain police officers in louisiana and texas. somerville's police union plans to protest the black lives banner tomorrow night.

>> but the right pick/ ? >> he is a good man, with a good heart. i think he will be valuable to the team. ed: you heard her. he is a good man with a good heart, but she would not say definitively that he was the right pick. when i spoke with her yesterday, she said she was not disappointed. so she we wonder what she really thinks. and clinton made an appearance at the end of the president costs speech -- president's speech tonight. she will have the full stage tomorrow. jc: thank you. all pregnant women in the u.s. should now be screened for the zika virus, whether or not they have traveled to areas where there's an outbreak. that's a big change coming from the centers for disease control tonight. zika, which is widespread in parts of south america and the carribean, has been linked to a

the cdc is also recommending a more sophisticated blood test for the virus. there are now 450 pregnant women with zika in the united states. ben: ok doctors at boston's , brigham and women's hospital who usually treat people are being credited with a medical breakthrough that saved a dog. jc: it's a new type of medical glue, and check out the very first patient. little papi had a mouth disease, which caused a painful opening to form in his mouth. that hole got infected and made him sick. three surgeries failed to fix it. his doctor at the mspca called brigham and women's for help. doctors there developed a glue that filled that hole. >> to bring him here and getting the treatment that he has gotten, it was worth it. jc: the glue gives papi's cells something on which they can grow, then it dissolves. papi's owner says the treatment worked so well, papi has the energy of a puppy again. ben: good for him. jc: very cute. ben: yes.

tomorrow. low to mid 90's, i mean, literally on the shore and might be a little bit better like rockport. often will likely be over 90 tomorrow. worcester county will be in the 90's. and when you go first to the south -- further to the south, there will be a light wind. highs in the 80's. it will be another good beach day if you are on vacation. the ocean water air temperature in the 80's on the cape. the southwest wind should not be too strong. the index is high and the rip current is low. and to changes are coming -- 2 changes are coming. this front from the northwest. it could spark thunderstorms tomorrow evening. the front will i go through the

system from the south coming. and the whole question is about this concentrated area of energy, that is translating into heavy rain, could it be moving in our direction? how far north will it come? this model shows a real soaking to the south. and other models lifting it into the region, so there is hope that we could have a beneficial rain out of this on ay could come down so hard that there could actually be localized street flooding developing. here is another computer model showing their very heavy rain as it goes into the region, during the day on friday. be aware that friday could be a weather impact day due to the heavy rain. of course, the gardens need water and it may come in a rush. then it will clear nicely for saturday.

doral, florida, talking about the recent e-mail hack of the dnc. when he made what might be his trumpiest statement yet. >> i will tell you this. russia, if you're listening, i hope you're able to find the 30,000 e-mails that are missing. i think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press. >> jimmy: that's right, donald trump is asking russia to hack our former secretary of state. become a weird early '90s action movie you'd see on usa network in the middle of the day. even his own running mate distanced himself from those comments. minutes after the press conference, mike pence released a statement saying, if it is russia and they are interfering in our elections, i can assure you both favorites in u.s. government will ensure there are serious consequences in spite what was my nutty running mate just encouraged them to do.
