erika: right now one person is dead after an attempted rescue by firefighters in the merrimack river. firefighters tell newscenter 5 they pulled three people from the water after the trio jumped in from a bridge. the call came in around 8 last night. it's unclear why they jumped in the river which has extremely powerful currents. right now, changes ordered by city hall, after the death of this little boy at a south boston beach. the boy's body was found after he wandered away from his summer camp. the eye's todd kazakiewich is live at the community center where the director is now on todd: the city is now reviewing its protocol for all 36 community centers as we learn about new questions surrounding the boy's death. the center is closed a memorial left at the door for 7-year-old kyzr willis. the boy wandered away tuesday afternoon his body pulled from the water on carson beach hours later. mayor marty walsh visited the grieving family yesterday. they say the boy's brother heard kyzr scream in the changing

used in ar-15 and over 1000 ammunition. randy: police negotiators convinced the suspect to surrender peacefully. no one was hurt. the incident is still under investigation and charges are still pending in the case. lawyers for the teenager convicted of murdering his danvers high school teacher are trying to prevent a second case from going to trial. 17-year-old philip chism was convicted in the 2013 murder of while awaiting that trial at a detention center in 2014, chism allegedly attacked a female employee in the bathroom. lawyers are meeting privately next month with prosecutors and a judge, to come up with an agreement before a trial. erika: a bill advances to make duck boat tours safer in boston after a deadly crash in april. allison warmuth was killed after she was hit by a duck boat while riding her moped. the state senate has now

randy: asian markets are in the red this morning. on wall street stock futures are higher. investors are looking for the latest snapshot on jobless claims. all pregnant women in the us should now be screened for the zika virus whether or not they have traveled to areas where there's an outbreak. that's a big change coming from the centers for disease control. zika, which is widespread in parts of south america and the carribean, has been linked to a birth defect. the cdc is also recommending a more sophisticated blood test for the virus. there are now 450 pregnant women with zika in the united states. the hot weather can really take a toll on your heart. erika: especially if you, or someone you love, already has risk factors. a few things to keep in mind, pick the right shoes. your feet certainly sweat a lot but well-ventilated shoes or socks that repel perspiration can help. second, buddy up. you don't have to stop

we are following breaking news. erika: let's get to sera congi on the scene. sera: we are on bulfinch street where there is an active crime scene. this is still very early on in the investigation, so the information is limited and some of it conflicting but we do know this is the scene of a shooting, several detectives still here working the scene. we know from policat suffering a head wound, and that victim is in serious condition and was taken to mass general. some of the neighbors here tell me that two people have been shot so it is still early on in the investigation around 3:45 this morning and they are still working the scene, trying to gather information. police say they don't have any suspects at this point; no arrests have been made. at least one person was shot

four other officers were already cleared. there is a report pending from the federal justice department, which is investigating alleged abuse by baltimore police in other cases. randy: police are looking for this teenager wanted in connection with a murder in fall river. police believe 15-year-old jayden smith was one of two people who shot and killed a 29-year-old man on july 11. jerrod cohen was shot at his home on plain street. earlier this month, police erika: a judge in connecticut will hear arguments today surrounding the maker of the gun used in the massacre at sandy hook elementary school. the judge will determine whether documents from remington arms should be sealed from the public, as the company fights a lawsuit from the families of victims. they say displaying the documents would hurt business, and benefit competitors. loved ones of nine families say the company should not have sold such a dangerous weapon to a civilian.
