power lines. several homes were damaged in a section of north haven, connecticut. around our area it's been a general rainfall that's probably been appreciated by many of you. most of it is offshore now but we still have a few little cells that are left. there are still some downpours. you see one right here as it's been moving through bedford and redding. another cell around manchester by the sea. a couple of scattered showers this evening. temperatures haven't gotten that high but it's humid. we've quickly moved into the oppressive zone. there is also a heat advisory in effect. we'll talk about that and more in a few minutes. back to you. >> right now we're learning more about a violent crime spree in worcester. the suspect is facing the judge. todd is life with now information. todd:. the violent rampage began here

attorney. he raped a 27-year-old woman at knife point just before 5:00 p.m. on tuesday inside her place of employment. then he allegedly hunt down another victim, carjacking, kidnapping and sexually assaulting her. eventually she bales out and then he abandons, breaking into a business, and that's where worcester police apprehended him. >> eventually they were able to place him into custody, after which point he began yelling obscens threatening them with harm. informing police he would shoot them with an assault rifle. >> he threatened to shoot police with an ak-47 although he doesn't have any firearms on him. he had been out on bail for two open cases in worcester. one in worcester, other in boston. the bail for those cases has now been revoked. he's being held without bail for this case until the dangerousness hearing which will

continues for that killer in princeton. >> unsettling news. rhondella richardson is live with the latest. reporter: the atmosphere here in princeton even more tense. residents want to necessity more about this crime but there aren't a lot of answers. at least not right now. troopers. john reportedly saw his daughter on saturday for dinner. the next day, she went for a jog near her mother's home in princeton and never returned. she may have been strangled and suffered trauma and burns. investigators are awaiting the results of a rape kit. residents are uneasy with each new detail.

here's the severe thunderstorm warning. it did have a tornado warning on it which expired at 4:45 p.m. remember, this is not in our local area. this is in the eastern part of long island. just east of new york city and that's now moving to the southeast. it's not moving eastward toward the south coast or the cape. a lot of lightning. it had a history of a lot of hail. still in evidence with the storm. still a serious and storm. >> we had a general rain area that moved across our region during the course of the day. there are still some small showers popping up. the air is so humid. as we try get a it will brightening and jump up a couple of degrees it's enough to cause a few downpours to reform. here's within right now across the north shore.

-- moving towards peabody, while we focus on this, it will slide through gloucester and cape ann. watching this shower activity through worcester. a cell east and one just west of worcester right along route 9. further to the west, a couple of other showers and thunderstorms are poupg right here. so there is still action through the evening hours. early eveningou widespread and as we lose some heating that will tend to fall apart. also, that area around long island mostly stays to the south but it's not impossible that the cape or the islands will be clipped within a shower or thunderstorm sometime during the first half of tonight. tomorrow, we get into the sun. once we do it's all about heat and humidity. low clouds and fog to start on the cape. might be hard to burn it off around nantucket. a blessing in disguise because it will keep down the temperature there. could be a pop-up thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon.

we do have some threatening clouds around because there are showers off to the northwest, west, and north. 78 degrees but it's amazingly uncomfortable. that's the real story. you can cut that air with a knife now. look how we've gone into the oppressive range. it was comfortable yesterday. now it's a whole different ball game extending to the southwest. at fenway, not late this be that hot but very sticky and clammy with a slight chance at the beginning of the game there. could be a sure or thunderstorm. boston tonight, and all these 90s are going to be ours tomorrow. it will be very hot. there is a heat advisory in effect from noon until seven. just check out those temperatures. really hot stuff is what we're talking about. as we check out the next seven days we'll have to deal with it on friday as well so we'll probably going to have a heat advisory extended into friday. temperatures will be very close to the levels we have tomorrow. thunderstorm chances will increase somewhat each day.
