this was random murder and that has folks uneasy. there is a vigil planned for 7:00 to remember the new york city google account manager. the victim, 27-year-old vanessa marcotte, grew up nearby, where her father still lives. her dad met with state troopers and an officer is keeping watch on the home to ensure privacy. marcotte reportedly saw his daughter saturday for dinner. the next day she went for a jog near her mom's home in princeton and never returne marcotte may have been strangled and her body found in the woods, suffered trauma and burns. we've learned investigators are also awaiting the results of a rape kit. investigators received a flood of anonymous tips. here's the tip line. 508-453-7589. police are still asking for the public's help. investigators are not expected to share any new developments in this case tonight and they haven't indicated if they have any suspects.

that strong storm is southeast of long island, new york. for us we had steady rains for a number of hours. much appreciated by you, your lawns and gardens. a couple of scattered showers still left over. rainfall amounts this morning into this afternoon, just about a quarter of an inch around boston. getting more now but over an inch in places like shirley. the amounts were variable. some additional rains sliding off the north shore and a few more a few more to the west but at this point we'll probably see them slowly weaken as we go through the evening hours there. will be some fog and low clouds left over especially around the cape where there could be an additional shower. tomorrow, once we get into the sunshine, that will be a mixed blessing. the heat and humidity will be on the right now it's 100 degrees in pierre, south dakota, 101 in dallas. 95 in kansas city.

except for the south coast and the cape, noon to 7:00. the reason why the south coast and cape is not included is because that west-southwest wind a little bit off the water. probably keeping the high temperatures well into the 80s as opposed to the 90s with very high humidity. very high humidity, look at this. we're in the oppressive area already. we're pretty much going to stay there for the most part. here's sxwroeted high temperatures tomorrow. so when you factor in the humidity, it will feel like about 95 to 105n area. and the upper 70s around nantucket. here's a look at the heat index for tomorrow. the heat index for friday afternoon. so we're talking about both days being very, very hot and very, very humid around here. so if you're thinking of hitting the beach tomorrow, always keep an eye to the sky and this tropical air mass. even on the beach it probably going to be 90 or higher. beaches down around the cape in the 80s. water temperatures in the 70s. low tide around noon time tomorrow.
