you walk outside and it already feels like it is very oppressive. wherever you see that reddish color, easternmost massachusetts, the dew points are off the charts. this will be with us for the entire day. you can see it is down to about half a mile, so th that it may slow you down this morning. the air quality becomes an issue later today, especially if you have respiratory issues. keep that in mind for later today. temperatures were now running in the 70's, as cool as it has been , low-to-mid 70's right now and once we burn off the fog sunshine throughout the day, temperatures by noon time around

the 40-year-old slumped in pain after that foul ball hits his shin. no question why that was a 98.5 mile per hour fast ball from the yankees pitcher that got him. the grimace on big papi's face saying it all as he was helped off the field and down the steps by john farrell and a physical therapist. >> i felt like i just wanted to cry because i like david so much and i felt really sad. antoinette: but again, the sox say those initial scans were negative and papi was able to walk on his own afterwards. we don't have to tell you fans just want to see papi finish up his final series strong.

live at fenway park this morning antoinette antonio, wcvb , newscenter 5. emily: also breaking overnight, two people are in the hospital with severe injuries after a stabbing in dorchester. it happened just before 3:00 a.m. on millet street. no word on any arrests or a motive at this point. and breaking in maryland, at least 20 people, including two firefighters, are hurt as a result of this huge fire. it happened just before midnight in silver spring. first responders say none of those injuries are life-threatening, but they have yet to account for everyone. at least two or three apartment buildings were involved in the fire. no word yet on the cause. randy: this morning we are hearing from the family of two women attacked in a waltham home. the eyeopener's todd kazakiewich is live at the courthouse where the suspect is expected to face a judge in just hours. todd: that relative tells us suspect emanuel louis has a history of domestic abuse. and we are expected new details about that when he faces a judge

the suspect alleged went to this weston road home looking for his ex-girlfriend. but police say he ended up stabbing his 52-year-old cousin and his 83-year-old godmother. the cousin now in critical condition. gabriel jean told our jorge quiroga about the disturbing scene. >> i mean, very bad. blood everywhere. about a mile away near brandeis university. the 37-year-old is charged with armed assault with intent to murder among other things. he'll be arraigned later this morning. todd kazakiewich, wcvb newscenter 5. emily: right now the state is getting ready to address the growing concerns about the drought hitting massachusetts hard. cindy, even with yesterday's rain we're really not even making a dent. cindy: we would need much more

drought task force will look at today. they're meeting to consider raising the drought level index for some parts of the state. there's already a drought watch in place for central and northeast regions. the task force will get the results of a new survey of conditions around the state. they're worried about farms and certainly about the potential for wildfires since things are so dry. we are looking at a few more ch there will be some downpours and i'll have the timeline on that in just a few minutes. emily: randy? randy: commitment 2016, today it is hillary clinton's turn. the democrat is set to outline her economic plan at a speech this afternoon just outside detroit. clinton has said she'll provide a, quote, "stark contrast to donald trump's economic proposals," which he outlined last week. that speech is set for 1:15.

it is near the north shore you will probably notice the difference today. you will notice this red color all the way from the beach, indicating that oppressive humidity into southern new england. this pattern will not change. on this front there is more comfortable air but it doesn't drop southward until the second half of the week. and thunderstorms. numerous showers and a lot of clouds with a lot of this activity heading toward the south. partly to mostly sunny skies, wind out of the west southwest with temperatures in the 80's. otherwise it is in the 90's we

we have a little bit of haze of the sky, patchy fog. we are dealing with 76 degrees in boston right now, dew point running in the mid-70's. this is oppressive humidity, with us pretty much all day long. all that moisture has translated into fog 30 overnight. three quarters of a mile in they'll be burning off by midmorning. temperatures right now in the low-to-mid 70's already. it will be a quick jump out of the 70's into the 80's, and look at that. my 5:00 in merrimack, 96 degrees. that is just the temperature, not the humidity. you can see the cloud cover, showers shifting to the south.

sera congi, wcvb newscenter 5. randy: a sheriff's deputy in arkansas is dead after responding to a 911 call. the sheriff says the 34-year-old suspect had pointed a gun at his father, who made the call for help yesterday. when they arrived that man had a rifle, body armor and fired at officers. the sheriff says the suspect was to cause a ruckus ahead of a court appearance. the 65-year-old deputy who was emily: the u.s. air force says it is struggling to fill a shortage of 700 fighter pilots by the end of the year. the branch is now planning to pay drone pilots a $35,000 a year bonus to encourage them to stay. the move comes as the u.s. battles in three air wars against isis in iraq, syria and libya. randy: it appears the email hack at the democratic national committee was bigger than it first appeared and reached the private email accounts of more
