and you can see in orange, a quarter of a mile but also here on the north shore, merrimack valley, lots of reduced visibility under a half and a quarter of a mile in spots. once that fog burns off, if you have got respiratory issues you may notice the air quality being a little impaired today as we have an air quality alert coming up this afternoon. ground level ozone, a little unhealthy today, so another reason to take it easy. what's happening is we have all the soupy air just coming up right from the deep south, oppressive humidity levels here, and thre this front drops southward. that is not going to happen until late weekend and early next week. the front sits on top of us and will be a focus for showers and thunderstorms. for now, things are quiet, we'll see a lot of sunshine today, temperatures coming up to around 90 in worcester but look at nashua and lawrence, upper 90s, 95 in boston, and you can see along the south side coast and the cape, it's in the 80s, despite the temperatures, these are not records for the day. the record, actually the upper 90s for both worcester and
6:17 am
factor in the humidity, by 10:00, already feeling like 90 degrees, and during the afternoon, it's feeling closer to 100 so take it easy, and if you are headed to gillette tonight for that game, not going to feel like football weather, still 90 degrees with a high humidity, and the temperatures only drop into the 70s overnight. we're going to do it again tomorrow with the temperatures in the low to a few mid 90s, but tomorrow afternoon, we are going to be watching for a couple of isolated thunderstorms, once we get to about 2:00, 3:00 in the afternoon over thent coastline and the evening, and notice they are isolated and scattered in nature, not everyone is going to see them on friday, and on saturday, we're going to watch the front to the north go southward, around 90 degrees out ahead of it, but late in the day, and into sunday, numerous showers and thunderstorms with that front into the vicinity, and it's going to be on tuesday or wednesday of next week before we go, oh! feeling much better. >> ok. >> thank you, cindy. >> so far, fairly quiet start on the roads, a live look at the expressway, there is a check by

get ready, don't forget to drink water, take it easy, and we don't see this all that often, it's the combination of the humidity with the hot temperatures today, and that's really going to be the issue, and you can see the haze that is out there right now, and poor air quality, as well, and you can see boston 76 degrees with a dewpoint of 74, and the dewpoints in the 70s, about as high as they go around here. so really oppressive humidity levels, and poor air quality, the alert going up, north shore, new hampshire, seacoast, parts of maine, asl now, out this way we have some fog, reducing the visibility, and you can see it's a quarter mile back to lawrence and orange, as well, and western part of the state, the fog should be burning off here by about mid morning, and low 70s out there right now, worcester, on up to bedford, and you can see boston is 76, and mid 70s on the cape, as well, so it is a soupy start, very muggy, and by lunchtime, we're up around 90 degrees, and then in the 90s this afternoon, but that heat index is going to feel like it's close to 100 degrees.
