raising for jenna, especially across cheshire county and they are moving toward northern rhode island as well. we had some thunderstorm activity -- these are much weaker than the last round that came through an hours time ago. that they are producing a fair amount of lightning as well as they continue slipping off the east. these are heavy rain producers as well. wee building to the west as they try to move eastward to the 495 belts. they are not having a lot of success because it was so cool there. we had rainfall estimations about an inch the past hour. that is why we have a flood advisory until 630. we have 70's to the north and east.

and our direction over the last 24 hours. heat advisories once again tomorrow, excessive heat warnings down over connecticut. we will talk about how high the thermometer will read tomorrow as well as another round of storms in just a few minutes. diane? diane: breaking news in north carolina, reports of shots fired at a busy mall. police in raleigh say they have not found anyone with gunshot wounds. they were called to the mall at 2:30 this afternoon. people inside say it turned to chaos after the shots were fired and many hid in stores until police let them out. no suspects have been arrested. , deadly flooding out of the south. the system dumping the equivalent of three months of rain in just one day in parts of louisiana. take a look at the video. at least two people are dead so far. abc's phillip mena is in louisiana with more. blood -- phil lip: the rain just keeps going and the floodwaters

, of rescues, as emergency crews rush to bring everyone to safety. governor edwards: we have record levels of flooding along our rivers and creeks. and because these are record floods we don't know how wide , the water is going to get in those areas. phillip: the governor calling in the national guard to help. emergency declarations are now in effect across portions of the state as police and fire , departments struggle to get to people trapped in their homes or vehicles. major curtis our helicopters are : in active search and rescue right now. trying to coordinate with officials on the ground to get to critical areas. phillip: this family in east baton rouge had to leave their flooded home on foot carrying a a baby for rushing water. their local sheriff jumping in to help. >> you see the sheriff has, um, the infant. trying to keep the baby dry. phillip: but officials can't get

water text the. >> did they know it was going to happen? >> once it started hitting the boats, that is when they started screaming. david: thick black smoke poured from the back of the regency as the captain apparently tried to reverse engines. >> he tried to back in again, repeatedly. this occurred about four times. david: crew. boston harbor crews -- cruise said one of the engines failed to shut down causing the crash. >> will probably go out at 5:00 if there is one available. david: you are not discouraged? >> no, we came all the way from texas.

docked. another ship is ready to sail. reid: we're getting a look at a dramatic scene that played out on boston-area highway. video posted online shows a car rolled over late yesterday along route 128 in weston. a woman in her fifties was trapped behind the wheel. more than a dozen other drivers pulled over and tried to help her by talking to her, keeping her calm, and pulling on the door. graham wilson who shot the video said paramedics and firefighters r she is expected to survive. diane: we are learning more about funeral plans for vanessa marcotte, the jogger killed this week in princeton. there will be a mass at our lady of the lake church in leominster on tuesday. she will then be laid to rest in woodside cemetery in westminster. state police say they have received more than 500 tips about this crime, but are asking for more. there is a tip line set up, the number is at the bottom of your screen. 5 investigates has now learned investigators have submitted dna samples for testing from at least one possible person of interest in the murder.

hillary clinton's running mate is not too far away. he is up in new hampshire. tim kaine wasting no time this afternoon going after donald trump and what kaine calls trump's vision for america. senator kaine: if you watch the other convention in cleveland, it was something different. it was doom and gloom and name america first. people told me that was a dark vision of america. i said that was no america. i said that was a guided tour through the mind of donald j. trump, a very frightening place to be. reid: kaine speaking at st. anselm college in manchester. earlier he stopped at a restaurant in concord accompanied by new hampshire senator jeanne shaheen. more from the vice presidential candidate coming up at 5:30. the republican vice-presidential candidate is also making plans to visit the granite state. mike pence will be at an event in manchester on thursday night. today he is in his home state of indiana, where he stopped for a burger and to shake hands in his native columbus. donald trump will be on the campaign trail in new england

it will get underway starting at 7:30. diane: new at 5:00 two salem men , are facing a slew of drug charges after being arrested in beverly. a joint investigation by salem and beverly police led to the arrests, following a series of undercover buys throughout the city. 21-year-old michael sanchez and 28-year-old jeffrey deleon are facing multiple drug charges, including distribution and possession of cocaine and heroin. as you can see, detectives recovered a significant amount of crack, heroin and cash. a new hampshire man is accused of distributing heroin stamped overdose and near death. lebanon firefighters were able to revive the 32-year-old victim with narcan. police say the heroin appears to have a high potency level. 30-year-old brock richardson of enfield is accused of supplying the drug. he's due in court on monday. reid: people in middlesex county are being warned about a telephone scam. sheriff peter koutoujian says callers are posing as deputy sheriffs and threatening to arrest people for not paying outstanding bills or fines.

callers. if you are contacted, you should call police immediately. diane: one of the victims of the orlando shooting, and framingham native, sharing a big moment in his recovery. angel colon can now takes steps on his own. as you can see there -- he shared this video on facebook with the caption "took my first steps all by myself, so happy. -- happy." colon was hurt in the massac nightclub. 49 people were killed and more than 50 others were hurt. colon was shot in the leg. reid: sutton police had to bring home the bacon after some pigs managed to escape from their home. several pigs got loose from their enclosure on boston road. police rounding them up and cared for the animals until the owners arrived to retrieve them. it's not clear if these little piggies were going to market. this one is taking a nap. diane: he threw out the first pitch at fenway last night, and

reid: news from overseas switzerland, the suspect accused of setting a fire and stabbing at least six people. among the victims, a child. police say they are working to find a motive, but they do not believe this was terrorism. the suspect also injured himself in the attack. there is no word on the condition of any of the victims. diane: vice president joe biden will be heading to turkey on august 24. he will be the highest level u.s. official to visit the country since the failed military coup last month. the turkish president blames the uprising on an islamic cleric based in pennsylvania. today the country's chief prosecutor submitted an official request to be sent to the u.s.

commented. celebrations tonight in the syrian town of manbij after its liberation from isis. u.s.-backed fighters defeated the terrorist group yesterday. it is a strategic town on a supply route from the turkish border that the islamic state was using as its central base. the town has been under isis control for two years. it was liberated after two straight months of heavy fighting. reid: tonight we're learning , more about what caused three children to fall from a ferris wheel at a fair in tennessee. the girls were worn out and had come loose. the bottom plate dropped down and got caught on the frame of the ferris wheel, tipping the girls out. a six-year-old remains in critical condition, while two other girls are now out of the hospital. diane: a woman in florida is in critical condition after an alligator attack. she was airlifted to the hospital after the incident at a fishing camp outside of miami. police say kimberly sexton was reaching into the water after dropping a can when the alligator attacked her.

the map, a lot of green, yellow, red. we will get into that and just a moment. this is our top story, if you will, weather-wise, thunderstorms producing very heavy rainfall of the mass pot -- the mass pike up into new hampshire. these storms not severe right now, but we have flooding ongoing. a flood advisory has been issued. continue producing lightning and kind of hitting the same spots over and over again. down for after downpour, 15 miles north, another 15 miles south -- another one five miles south. it's right along the border of

and hot it is going to be plus the potential for more storms momentarily. reid: all right, see you then. thank you. police in manchester, new hampshire say someone fired a possible gunshot towards officers and medics early this morning. this happened at about 2:00 in the morning as first responders , treated an intoxicated person who was passed out in the triangle credit union parking lot on elm street. there were two officers and two medics on scene. police say they heard the gunshot when the round went over their heads. no one was hurt. the police chief says he believed his officers were targeted. diane: in commitment 2016 one , week after donald trump visited in the granite state, hillary clinton's running mate rallied democrats this afternoon in manchester. adam sexton of our sister station wmur reports, sen. tim kaine is no stranger to new hampshire and sees the state as one that will decide who wins the white house in november. adam: senator tim kaine campaigning in new hampshire for

overall pretty gloomy in boston and up through the north. that is actually helping prevent some of these thunderstorms from the southwest moving in. there have been showers in the boston area. take your up north through cheshire county. this area has been hard hit. we have flooding advisories for central parts of cheshire county. including keene. we have en rainfall. we have flood advisory's for this entire area until 6:30 p.m. those storms look like they are weakening somewhat. look off to the west, we are finding most of it to the north. showers will dwindle down. we still have some activity going up through northern new

storms that are borderline between strong and severe in the national weather service said, you know what? radar is telling us perhaps we have gusts out of this storm in excess of 60 miles power hour. they issued a severe thunderstorm warning for another 15 minutes or so. this does include areas around oxbridge, for example. it is moving to the east of 15 miles per hour. that puts it in north smithfield and whenoc to the north of 95. there is also stormy weather back off to our west as well. we are dealing with flooding problems as the storm systems develop behind themselves thank you going over the same area. we have flooding and flooded visor is posted until at least six 30 p.m. for this entire area
