once this project is done the span will be able to be raised and lowered so large ships can pass underneath. that's still a ways away. the $244 million project started in 2012 and completion has been delayed until 2018. still this is a big milestone and a tricky one involving massdot and the coast guard. today's process is a long one it won't be completed until this afternoon. all of weather and tied looks pretty good this morning. randy: breaking overnight protests erupt into violence in milwaukee after the shooting death of a black man by police. at least one person was shot last night during demonstrations stemming from saturday's shooting. erika: dozens of officers in riot gear moved in on some 150 protesters late last night at the site where a 23-year-old man was shot and killed. police say the demonstrators

locations and at least one person was hit by a bullet. an officer was taken to the hospital after being struck by an object. it comes after violent protests saturday night. the sheriff says it's amazing nobody was killed. >> the loss of life of innocent civilians and what worsen personnel -- law enforcement personnel did not happen. the little flying all over law-abiding people living in those areas. erika: officers say they opened fire on sylville smith saturday after he allegedly turned toward them with a stolen gun in hand. the police chief says body camera video shows officers acted lawfully. that video has not been released. randy: right now it's back to business as usual at new york's jfk airport after reports of shots fired set off a massive police response. police evacuated two terminals

this morning they say those reports appear to be unfounded. port authority police say they have not found any firearms or any other evidence of gunfire at the airport. emily: right now this fire on plum island is under investigation. the flames broke out at a home on 59th street around 7:30 last night. the fire quickly spread to three alarms. fire crews from all over the merrimack valley responded. no one was hurt. o it started at a home on alabama street last night the heat making the flames worse. the two firefighters were treated and released for minor injuries. officials believe the flames were started by a powerful lightbulb that was too close to flammable materials. the home suffered about $150,000 worth of damage. randy: right now they're bracing for more flooding in parts of louisiana. cindy, just a devastating

it had been attacked by a shark. the beach supervisor says it was first reported by a patron, then minutes later the harbor master called to a say a fisherman also saw the seal. about 750 people were cleared off the beach, but many say they were not bothered by the inconvenience. >> when i was younger i was afraid, i'm not afraid in the longer. they will let us know. randy: the chatham parks director tells us the fisherman did not ever actually see the emily: a former uber driver charged with raping a 16-year-old passenger will be back in court today. a judge will decide whether darnell booth is a danger to the public. the 36-year-old is being held without bail after pleading not guilty last week. booth allegedly started communicating with the victim on snapchat after driving her on june 30th then offered to drive her to school and assaulted her in an everett parking lot.

sera: just over a week ago, vanessa marcotte went out for a jog and never came home. today her family will hold a wake as they try to say goodbye to the promising young woman. even as police continue to try and solve her murder. yesterday, people here in princeton took part in a run in marcotte's memory. the goal not only to remember marcotte but to help local runners get over their fear and take back what, for many, was just a part of the routine before last week. >> it's completely changed my i'm the first one up in the morning and i'm scared to get out of bed even though we have an alarm system and a dog. >> i've never questioned a running route that i've done in town before until this happened . and now i'm pretty particular of where i go. erika: state police have now gotten more than 600 tips on the crime. five investigates has learned they are testing dna from a possible person of interest. her funeral is tomorrow.

chatham beach is reopen after hundreds of people were forced off during a shark scare. lighthouse beach was closed for about 2 hours yesterday after reports of a seal that looked like it had been attacked by a shark. about 750 people were cleared off the beach. the chatham parks director tells us the fisherman who made the initial report did not ever actually see the shark. randy: the coast guard is investigating after a rescue off castle island. a boat sank early sunday morning in dorchester bay. six people were left clinging to the boat. one of those passengers was able guard pulled them out. nobody was hurt. an oklahoma woman comes home to strangers living at her house. crystal taylor says her neighbors alerted her while she was on an extended vacation. but when police got there the squatters showed them a lease. they say they're the victims of a craigslist scam. nobody has been charged and police are still investigating. emily: a tornado tears through the philippines. this timelapse video shows the
