the patriots' tightened leaves today's practice with an apparent injury? let's get to sports accept ter 5's mike lynch with the latest. >> it happened during a seven on seven passing drill. as he was reaching for a pass he pulled up and took himself out of practice and took off his helmet and walked up and down the sideline. he also talked to tom brady and then went to the lower practice field. there was the first 10 after he met the head trainer gronk was taken to a field where they are rehabbing. he went to the locker room and never went down to the practice field. they have all left practice with injuries. things got testy with the bears and we will tell you that when we go live to foxborough in sports. >> it is not as humid today,

and right now it is in the 80s and the air is a little more comfortable. that will change tomorrow. the more humid air will be returning and the storms that are in the midwest, a few of them could visit us tomorrow. now, there may booy a spot shower -- be a spot shower or thunderstorm, but i am more concerned with what could happen tomorrow afternoon and into tomorrow night from west to east. a couple of strong storms could be moving through the area. the threat could last in this case into tomorrow night. so with these particular strong. if you get them that means damaging wind threat with potential localized spreet -- street flooding. we will talk more about this in a few minutes. heather? heather:five investigates a bombshell in a case of a man who spent 30 years in prison for a crime he says he did not commit. the judge who presided over the conviction is telling us he doesn't believe a jury

the superior court and a hearing got underway today. >> it was 35 years ago this month that a jury convicted him of first degree murder. now as the judge weighs in whether to give him a new trial the retired judge who presided over the original case is speaking out. >> should he get a new trial? >> i would say yes, but i am not a bleeding heart liberal. reporter: he is talking about a man convicted in his courtroom in 1981 death in braintree. it was largely based on the testimony of a teenager who was drinking and it was about 180 feet away in the dark when he says he saw him fleaing the -- fleeing the murder scene. judges instruct them differently on eyewitness identifications. >> do you think he will be found guilty today? >> i don't think so. i really don't think so. >> why is that? >> because of the added instructions and the

that they must even tell a jury be more critical of eyewitness identification. >> the bombshell is not surprisingly well received by his attorney. >> i wish i were the judge on this case. the law has changed and the judge is very fair on this. >> he has an open mind. >> the focus in the courtroom today is the so-called leahy report. a braintree police report that recently surfacend another man could have committed the crime. the report was never turned over to his attorney. >> when you heard about the leahy report what did you think? >> i was over.. -- i was it didn't surprise me because they pulled stunts like this throughout the whole case. >> the district attorney's

closer and they lunged teared her. according to court documents they didn't put much thought into the prank. they said given their history with police and their lack of thought they were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. she said she is former military and would have been carrying a gun. this could have ended much worse. wcvb is facing charges accused of driving drunk with two toddlers in her car. angela powers was stopped on friday with a one and a 3-year-old in the car. she smelled of alcohol and was unsteady on her feet. she refused to answer questions questions and blowing smoke in an officer's face. they threatened to kill an officer's wife and beat up another officer. she will be back in court in

kidnapping his son and shooting him in the stomach. he is being held on $150,000 bail and charged with the custodial kidnapping of his 9-year-old son, kelvin. the boy was missing for roughly 12 hours until powell surrendered his son's whereabouts. prosecutors say he fled save shooting a neighbor -- he fled after shooting a neighbor in an argument. that's why my son has removed kelvin from the best of my knowledge from wherever he was at. >> ayala powell was allowed to stand outside the courtroom today shielding his face. the victim is expected to recover. donald trump is unveiling his plan to fight isis today. his plan includes temporarily suspending immigration from countries with a history of

he is so happy. reporter: jacob and his family live in orlando, florida, but they call boston home for six months after he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. he under went three brain surgeries in florida and had a fourth one here. >> he started the oral chemo four weeks ago and he started to go downhill. his seizures have gotten worse. he was hospitalized three times. >> now his doctors are trying to figure step. there are talks of jacob having to endure yet another one. >> he proves when something goes wrong he is the happiest kid through all of this. >> the hotel has become their home away from home. >> they found out about his birthday and they told me that they wanted to plan something special if i was okay with it. of course i wanted the best for him. >> so he could forget about the doctors and the hospitals and focus on being a kid.

we got a little break in the humidity, but that's not the case tomorrow. a sea breeze in the last hour and here are the readings elsewhere. it is still upper 80s around providence and hartford. it is very warm. it has been that way for awhile. today it is not as hot as recent days. tonight should not be a you press -- owe tomorrow's temperatures, that's problematic because if we don't get much sunshine, the upper 70s and the low to mid80s tops. if we should break out in sunshine for awhile in the early afternoon, that would allow the temperature to spike and actually increase the chance of strong storms. the chance is there anyway. i have to show you this. the ocean water temperature is about as high as it gets around here. look at it in buzzards bay. 77 degrees.

the north shore and the south shore. even up to 70 in coastal new hampshire and coastal maine. look for a day that has a lot of cloudiness. a possibility one or two spots could get a brief shower or thunderstorm and then the next chance we will be at the end of the day or into the night. so it is definitely a day to keep an eye to the sky. here is a slightly more comfortable air that has, woulded in, but notice the un-- that has worked in. it overnight tonight and during the day tomorrow. along with a little disturbance. you are seeing a few storms here. this is a chance of getting one or two in the morning. and then we have these storms back here and that's your chance later tomorrow and into tomorrow night. this is our greatest chance and it would not rule out one getting as far south as boston later tomorrow and into tomorrow night. so again that very first chance comes with this warm front in the morning and then we will see a few strong ones later in the day and into the

comfortable on wednesday. a closer look at one or two spot storms for the morning and then a look at the chance in the afternoon of storms developing to the west and moving eastward toward the coastline. that threat could linger into tomorrow night. all right, let's check it out for you. rt storm impacts keep this in mind. if you are to get one tomorrow and tomorrow night, a high chance of getting very heavy downpours and a lot of lightning and strong winds a medium chance and even a low chance there could be a small spin up of a torn in tornado in one or two spots. tomorrow is a potentially high impact weather day. more comfortable air on wednesday. a few spot showers late thursday and looks reasonably comfortable on friday and saturday. see you next hour. i'm harvey leonard. now here is mike lynch with sports center 5 and powered by xfinity. >> hi, folks. in foxborough the patriot and bears in the first of three practices. there is a concern at gronk at

to sports center 5. red sox had a make up matinee in cleveland and after nail biting they hung on for their fourth straight win. 3-2 is the final. the fourth inning and the only lead cleveland would have. big papi would take care of that. big papi goes down south. r.b.i's 91 and 92 and career homer 530. a solo homer and the sox have a 3-1 lead. the indians cut it to 3-2. the bottom of the 9th. there was nobody out. then there is a great stop and now we go to the 9th inning. nobody is out and he threw 28 pitches in the inning. he has two strikeouts and then he has this pop up to second base and the red sox win it
