these areas southwest of boston and northwest of the mass pike. let's take everybody over and show you what we have got. the storm tracker on both of those storm cells. the one that has the warning is this cell, right in here, as it moves to the east-northeast. this is the strongest part of the so, getting very close to sudbury. we have the tracker on that particular storm. intensifying just to the north of princeton in serling. this line of storms near natick, canton, moving off to the east-northeast as well. wellesley, needham heights, also near the edge. that's the northern edge as it tracks to the east-northeast. those are the three cells.

cell that has our attention. the severe thunderstorm warning is for the middle, affecting clinton, sudbury. you can see how it has been moving, and you can also see why our attention is focused on westminster, because it is showing a hook echo which signifies that there can be rotation. sometimes rotation makes its way to the ground, and when that happens you can have a small tornado. were just saying it is not impossible. we got a call of 15/100 of an inch of rain in two minutes. the heavy rain has the highest chance. medium chance of lightning. some don't have lightning but can still be strong, because it is tropical. medium chance of strong wind with some of those cells, and even a low chance that there

this continues into the evening, then it slides off the coast. it may not be the end of the story, because there are some storms in eastern pennsylvania. we'll cover that in a few minutes. heather: also happening right now, we've learned of the first case of west nile in massachusetts this year. the patient is a 79-year-old from middlesex county and is hospitalized. last year, 10 people were diagnosed with west nile in the state. ben: a jogger murdered in the hunt for her killer goes on. hundreds paid tribute to 27-year-old vanessa marcotte at today's funeral. state police are asking for tips to find whoever did it. heather: aaron herandnez's next murder trial will start on february 13. the former patriot was in a boston court today for the hearing. prosecutors say he killed two men after a fight at a boston nightclub in 2012. hernandez is already serving life for the murder of odin lloyd a year later. ben: a 15-year-old is fighting to recover after being shot

heather: it happened late last night. newscenter 5's doug meehan tells us right now a search for suspects continues. >> i heard a bunch of gunshots that came off my porch and realized it was right over here. doug: it was just before midnight when he woke to the sound of gunfire in his development neighborhood here in south boston. >> how many? >> seven or eight. doug: according to several of those bullets struck the 15-year-old sitting in a car on gavin way. >> he was shot three times. according to the doctors there is a good chance he may have survived here. doug: at a scheduled event in roxbury, marty walsh says he is working with the housing authority to get more security cameras installed around this development. >> this is kind of a hotspot in the summer.

ben: high interest in the 2016 presidential race has prompted search engine giant google to roll out a new feature. it's aimed at boosting voter turnout in november. newscenter 5's sally kidd is live in our d.c. bureau with the details, sally? google says the volume of searches for this election has quadrupled since the 2012 campaign. so beginning today, when you search for information on things like how to vote, how to cast an absentee ballot, and similar topics, you see a box on state voting laws of the top of the search results. it breaks down the details on how to vote, and is tailored to

on the different state. last month, they unveiled a similar feature explaining how to register to vote, and political scientists say it is difficult to predict whether this will have an impact on voter turnout in november. sally kidd, wcvb newscenter 5. ben: google is taking on skype. the company launching a new video calling service. it's called duo and is available right now. unlike facetime, duo allows users to make calls between ios and android devices. google is set to release a text messaging app similar to facebook messenger in the next few weeks. heather: tonight we're hearing from one of the three little -- tonight a suspected arsonist is behind bars blamed for , starting the clayton fire in northern california which burned over 4,000 acres and destroyed nearly 200 homes and buildings. abc's danya bacchus has more on the man investigators say is responsible.

the one to the south has weakened that there is still a punch to it at this time. here's a look at rainfall and what has fallen so far. you can see that we picked up about an inch and a half of rain near the eastern connecticut/western rhode island border. that has been moved northeastward. as the continue to see the severe thunderstorm warning in effect until this warning will either come down or it will be expended to the east, marginal in terms of how severe they are. we will see how it pans out. it will pass between boston and quincy at this particular time. the storm impacts where you get
