diane: less than 24 hours after the stabbing, woburn police announced an arrest in what they call a brutal attack outside this jake n joe's restaurant. >> there is no clear indication of motive in this investigation and it continues to be ongoing and active. >> it happened just after midnight this morning as the restaurant was closing. anybody was there last night that could get close enough there was a considerable crime scene outside the restaurant police say 36-year-old james lyons is now facing charges for assault with intent to murder. the police chief says the suspect was arrested at a home in woburn adding that social media and good old fashioned police work helped investigators track the suspect down. >> facebook played a big part on it it goes to identification we're not in a position to talk about that right now gerry fruggiero, the director of operations for the restaurant

calls for help made after a local teen allegedly stabbed his mother and brother while vacationing in florida. the first call to 911 was from the suspect's mother, who had been critically hurt. >> my son is going to die. ed: 16-year-old gust ramgren of framingham is charged with attempted murder accused of stabbing his mother melissa, a newton schoolteacher and 14-year-old brother wednesday night. the second 911 call came from a neighbor when the teenage suspect showed up on her front porch. >> he said someone has attacked the family and he said they did it. >> who did it? >> i don't know. he said they did it. who is they?

everything is beginning to fail, corrode, lec at the sam time. reporter:s abouttop university researcher is standing on top of just the kind of problem she has been studying. it is a large underground gas leak unclearstown sullivan square she said is lackly killing the plants and trees. they disproportionately contribute to the methane we see from the natural gas leaks. reporter: a few miles away at washington and causeway street. right along the freedom trail, sits a narrow pipe shooting more than 20 feet to the sky and releasing and dispersion natural gas leaking from the 100-year-old craft pipe below. it is just one of the more than 70,000 gas leaks reported as of the end of last year. >> you could have an accident there. you could have admission of gas right there.
