above ground pool here of freda lane in lowell and one child was unresponsive when pulled from the water. police were called out to the home just before 8:30 last night. we spoke to one of the neighbors who did not want to be identified who tells us he is a nurse and started performing cpr on the little girl and by the time ems arrived, she was breathing. he says he called out for additional help and his girlfriend who is also a nurse tried to help the other child, a -- and he says by the time she did ems arrived at the scene. and heard a commotion. i went over to see what i could do. i checked the airway. get a few compressions, got a poll. -- got a pulse. diane: police say the children were airlifted to a local hospital last night in critical condition, but they tell us they do not have an update on their condition. diane cho, wcvb newscenter 5. todd: a four alarm brush fire in west roxbury, still smoldering today. firefighters spent the night

at 5:30. rhondella: massachusetts had more hoax bomb threats called in to schools last year than any other state. 135 were made last school year according to the group educator's school safety network. state police say the number is probably a little low. this was one of the incidents at methuen high school when all backpacks were put outside to be checked by police k-9's. threats to school are on the rise across the country. the safety network estimates there were 8 bomb threats per school day during the 2015-16 school year. that number does not include other threats of violence. robocalls that allow threats to reach many schools at once. todd: 5 on the opioid crisis, researchers at umass medical school start tests tomorrow on new medical devices that could help fight addiction. the devices come as bracelets, or as a pill you can swallow. both monitor the body's reactions to drugs and withdrawal and send signals back to researchers. they could help doctors learn more about how addiction happens
