quite the scene overnight tonight. mike: 3:00 in the morning we started to see some stuff on radar. the weather service said to issue a tornado warning. very unusual. to get money massachusetts and in the middle of the night. things have settled down now. there are no more severe thunderstorm warnings in effect. some scattered showers pretty much winding down along the north shore. not much going on in the city of on at about 30 miles per hour. eventually, though showers worked their way in. afterwards, just some scattered showers and sky starting to clear. things looking much more promising heading towards the afternoon. it is really muggy out there right now. the humidity drops shamanic relator. cooler air across the area, lots

in boston, we will warm things up. we have been monitoring the situation for what is going on out there. in marlborough, we have seen some damage out the post we will go to doug out there in the street. how does it look right now? doug: it has been wild out here for a span of about an hour. that heavy storm blew through here. it did some damage. i will let dave zoom in for y ou. when you see here. that caused a -- the power to go off. we had some severe shots greece -- we have. they just showed up to assess the damage them what they the due to repair the line. it will tkae some -- take some work.

certain level. we also have reports of that typical sounded like a freight train. the owner of that home didn't want to go on camera. he said it was loud and it was nasty. he's just glad nothing happened to his house. no word yet on when the power will be back on. power outages throughout marlborough, their scattered in nature. there was another tree branch down on curtis avenue. nothing too the storm was selected and where it hit and what parts of town were affected. emily: the eye-opener also has a storm damage tracking this morning. randy: you are in concord, aren't you? >> i am human concord where there is a lot of damage. you can see parts of a few trees

it on lexington road. police and fire here have shut down that road completely. tries do -- trees down, utility poles down/ we were told to look out for any wires. the national weather service saying this is one of the hardest hit areas by this cell. i was talking to one resident who said a tornado. certainly, there was a tornado warning this morning. he will know for sure until later. the power is out here in this area. shut down as crews deal with the trees are down all over the place. and potentially some live wires. people waking up to quite a mess.

we're told police were called to the home around 2:00 yesterday afternoon for a report of an unresponsive woman. because it's not clear how she died it's unclear if this is a homicide or if her death is considered suspicious. her name is not being released at this point. new this morning, victims of a deadly meningitis outstemming from a framingham pharmacy will not be able to speak at a sentencing hearing in november. douglas and carla conigliaro pleaded guilty last month to hiding thousands of dollars after the new england bankruptcy following the outbreak. five investigates the first to report that the victims reached a settlement with necc owners and medicare earlier this month. but now a federal judge is denying victim impact statements saying the conigliaros did not have a direct hand in compounding tainted steroid injections. randy: right now police are still investigating a deadly mystery in east boston. one woman is dead another injured after an incident involving a party bus. it happened on mcclellan highway

it's not clear what the victims were doing when they were hurt. the company operating the bus is cooperating with police. a sales manager from entourage livery says the driver is on temporary leave during the investigation. >> you want to offer our condolences to the family. that is the most important thing. randy: the surviving victim is expected to recover. right now de under investigation in berlin. it happened on route 495. police say a car smashed into the rock wall on the exit 26 ramp. the driver, a 96-year-old berlin man, died at the scene. it's not clear what caused him to lose control. emily: right now president obama is back at the white house after a vacation on martha's vineyard. but he won't be in washington for long. the president is preparing to visit the site of devastating flooding along the gulf coast. the eye's erika tarantal is tracking developments from that

erika: tomorrow president obama heads to baton rouge to survey severe flooding. this morning more than 3000 people are still in shelters there. more than $30 million in federal housing assistance has already been approved for louisiana. many residents are just starting to return to see what's left of their homes and their neighborhoods. in some cases, what's left of their lives sits discarded and soaked on the front lawn. >> it happened a fast. it is sad. we saved a lot. thanks to my brothers, they put everything as high as they could. erika: but there is some progress in this season of extreme weather. the wildfire that destroyed nearly 200 homes in northern california is now 95% contained. the fire in lower lake was ruled arson. in other areas of the state, evacuation orders are now being lifted as firefighters get a handle on some of the other wildfires. emily?

we are told there are many weather-related roadblocks. there is about 2000 people reporting there without power right now. most of them are in middlesex county. it was a pretty intense night. randy: this is a live picture is take a lot to fix that. mike: it is amazing how fast they could onto the scene. even in the summer. emily: almost as fast as you could get this morning. mike: i want to show you the rada look at the area just west of marlborough. based on that, we can see some interesting things. modern radar is amazing. we're seeing a lot of wind going this way. we are seeing there is something happening here. the national weather service said let's issue a tornado warning on this. we're seeing some of the damage this morning for start you

anymore. we are barely left with any scattered showers along the north shore at this point. we had some rain last night. he downplayed around gloucester right now. the rain is over for the city of boston. here is where we are getting the rain now. it has moved offshore. what you're left with here is a more gentle rain than anything else. looking live in concord. the aftermath of a tornado warning overnight. you can see those tree limbs down, blocking the roadway on lexington road. we also have crews in marlborough surveying the damage. randy: damaged quite a number of communities first of many of us got heavy rain. mike: other places could go five miles down the road and not even get an inch of rain. that is the kind of thunderstorms we had going let me show you some damage reports we had. you can see in the area we're talking about, some trees down. as you look in marlborough, trees down as well. multiple trees down and power lines as well. the check with our reporters in just a minute. that was the storm last night. you may have seen this little area working through, that was the one that traded the issue.

they will be out there to see if there was a tornado. sometimes it is difficult to tell them apart. the rain is gone, it is offshore. it is all over with. the only place we rain going on right now is from hall down to the cape cod canal. this of the area we're seeing our heaviest rains. we could see some heavy downpours to the next 15 or 20 minutes. that's new bedford generally of a good three quarters to an inch of rain. some places more, some places less. there is more activity down to the south. that is across the cape and the islands. we have some rain going on early this morning. i this afternoon, we will be clearing days off. at the time we get to 8:00, most areas are in the sunshine coast and everybody will be with some cool and refreshing sunshine. the humidity will be dropping.

morning this morning. one of the things people are asking how much rain that i get? that was the beneficial part of the storms. some places picking up a few tenths of an inch of rain. the city of boston picking up almost an inch. so ready for some reports to come through on the cape. most of us pick up at least a quarter of an inch. that is the good news about this whole thing. this morning between 3:00 and 4:00 we have some reports of damages. looking up to the north shore right now, the rain is now pushed all the way offshore. that is to the one -- the one that caused all the damage. we're seeing this band right near the coast. that will be offshore and about another 10 minutes. traveling down to the south, this is the most active area

you will get it shortly. there is more support down here to the south. it will be beneficial when we are talking about as it moves its way across the area. later this morning, the skies clear. with the clearing skies, the wind will pick up and lower humidity will move back into the forecast. here is what it looks like for the next seven days, tomorrow, it starts off on the chilly side. the morning hours c some spots that start up with temperatures in the upper 40's. it will warm up nicely. we have upper 70's before that it over with. wednesday, warmer, more humidity coming into the forecast. that sets us up for a chance of thunderstorms. by friday, 90 degrees it is hot and humid. hopefully, no severe weather. kind of assessing where the damages. right now, some beneficial rain we have going on as well.
