shaun: vandals put that explosive in this newspaper stand, right in the center of town. police think they targeted the gay paper. and they think it was a hate crime. the blast lit up the sidewalk. smoke filled downtown salem. that early morning explosion could be heard a mile away. police say this group of seven targeted the local gay paper. >> there are two individuals here who are actually placing the explosive in the newspaper box. that box owned by the rainbow times. the editor says their boxes went up three months ago. right away, vandals hit. now a dozen times. first with trash.

wcvb newscenter 5 breaking news from new bedford tonight, a 15-year-old boy stabbed to death. newscenter 5's ben simmoneau is at the breaking news desk with the details. ben: police say this happened earlier this evening on chancery street near middle street in new bedford. the 15-year-old victim tried to run home after he was stabbed and authorities say it was his mother who called 911. but he did not survive. two other teenagers also stabbed they were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover. the circumstances as to what led up the stabbings are still unclear at this hour. no arrests have been made. in the newsroom, i'm ben simmoneau, wcvb nc5. maria: also breaking, a young woman shot in the head in lawrence. newscenter 5's john atwater is live on the scene right now, rescuers are working into the dark to get a helicopter out of

jorge? jorge: the scene her now cleared some five and a half hours after the ultra light helicopter crashed into the reservoir here , state police divers and a tow crew finally got it the pilot/owner telling us , he cant wait to fix it and fly again. the black mosqito model ultralight helicopter was intact as it was towed out of the water a routine flight turned into a white knuckle thrill ride. >> i was buzzing around to see

maria: new video tonight of that plane that made an emergency landing on a sand bar in the quabbin reservoir yesterday. you might remember it was stuck on that patch of sand all night long. but you can see today, a helicopter was called in to lift it off and bring it to the airport in orange. the pilot says he had engine trouble and had to bring the plane down. right now, emergency crews on the ground in indiana after multiple tornadoes touched down today. thousands a w governor mike pence will tour storm-ravaged areas at daylight to assess the damage. harvey is here with this right now. it is still active, it has reached to cleveland. >> meteorologist: is near cleveland and southwest of ohio. still strong thunderstorms, but not as strong as they were. we no longer have tornado warnings. i got to show you this, ed. you were right.

roslindale. prosecutors have released new video showing usaamah rahim entering a drug store moments before he was shot by police in june of 2015. police say he threatened them with a knife. rahim was allegedly planning a large-scale attack on other officers. investigators say over a dozen witnesses corroborated what grainy video suggested. rahim's family says police should have tried to "de-escalate" the situation without opening fire. >> why he told the police he knew we are was going. weather today in indiana. what is left of those storms as

favorite boston restaurant is making the grade. the city council approved a plan today to issue letter grades to all of the city's restaurants based on health inspections. the first ones come out in the next couple of weeks. here's how it works: restaurants start with 100 points. they lose ten for any serious violations involving food and how it is handled. significant violations that don't involve food, but could still put customers at risk costm and they lose two points for any small issues. do the math and you get a final score. and 94 points or higher gets a restaurant an a. 81 to 93 earns a b. and 80 or lower is a c. starting in a year, restaurants will have to post their grades in their front windows or face fines. ed: a seven-year-old boy is home safe tonight after he was
