it's the last weekend in august. that is going to be a great one. it looks really nice. my sticky out there this morning , lots of 70's on the map this morning, 70 in boston. on the cape, couple raindrops over the past few hours that have been very light, mostly into the mid-and advocate but there isn't too much activity on the radar rate now outside this, a couple more showers into western massachusetts before you're left with thunderstorms across eastern new york state and this will continue to shift eastward over the next couple hours. it's coming out ahead of the final boundary and as it does it will bring us the risk of some showers and thunderstorms. notice how we bring in more clouds, and by late morning into the afternoon there will be at least a chance of a couple

70's and 80's this afternoon with some spots making a run at 90. but the shower and storm threat is not widespread, it will be very scattered. in the greater boston area lunchtime the activity will shift off as we head into the evening. more forecast coming up but first he want to get you updated in the situation in boston. olessa: the sumner tunnel is shut down after a deadly crash is two people are heard and taken to the hospital, one person was killed in the crash. we are hearing that one lane has been reopened heading towards -- so keep in mind to expect those heavy delays. miranda still shut down for the active investigation and police are asking everyone to use mass transit or find an alternate route until it is completely

bicycle in the area of railroad avenue and the mbta parking lot. if you have any information or recognize the man in those photos you're asked to call rockport police. antoinette antonio, wcvb newscenter 5. emily: breaking overnight, a second powerful earthquake has rattled an italian city already in ruins. the 4.7 magnitude quake struck overnight near amatrice. scientists have counted 470 aftershocks. yesterday news crews captured one while filming in amatrice. more than 260 people are confirmed dead this morning after a 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck early wednesday morning. you can see just how vast the damage is across several communities in central italy. rescuers continue to dig through debris as many more missing are feared dead. also breaking, at least eight police officers are dead after a car-bomb attack in turkey.

bedford. that co-pilot was removed from the plane, and failed a sobriety test. he's been identified only as a 35-year-old florida man. new details in the case of a new hampshire prep school graduate convicted of sexually assaulting a classmate on campus. new filings from the victim's lawsuit against st. paul's school show that parents of other students paid $100,000 for owen labrie's defense team. the lawsuit claims the school attempted to rally its well-connected members against the victim. the school denies that accusation. randy: com off the campaign trail for the top candidates for president. that's after some harsh criticism on both sides. the eye's erika tarantal is tracking the race for the white house. erika: both candidates have been busy on the trail but no scheduled events today. the break comes after a day of heated language over race. >> the inner cities are dying

cindy: it's a tropical wave. we get those through the atlantic all season long, but this one has been strong. models have been indicating that this could develop into something although they kind of backed off on that theory. now it's a 60% chance the next five days, it's just not that organized. but it is headed to florida thunderstorms, everything to the south and east of the center. regardless of this disorganized it is going to bring a bunch of rain to florida, and that is that we saw back in louisiana, these tropical features bringing a lot of rainfall. several inches of rain are possible west of florida as we go through the weekend. we could certainly use some of

randy: a u.s. navy ship fires three warning shots at iranian boats as it was approaching another american ship. the american commander said the boat came within 200 yards of the uss tempest in the north arabian gulf and that several radio calls and warning flares were ignored. this is the third incident the u.s. has had with iranian revolutionary guard boats. iran's defense minister said that his naval forces will warn or confront any foreign ships entering its waters. emily: no arrest in the shooting of a teenager in boston. the family of 18-year-old dashaye mizhari says the teen thought she heard two friends arguing on mclellan street early thursday morning. when she ran outside to check, she was hit by gunfire. she's now in critical condition. her family says they do not believe she was the target. randy: a controversial judge who handed down a lenient sentence
