central street. this was early this afternoon. firefighters are on the scene. a major problem is the amount of space between the floor. access has been tough. places have been completely destroyed as well as several businesses, including one of the oldest hair salons. this was renovated in the last few years. she will renew. the cause is under instigation. a todd: john atwater is live. john: park street opened in the last hour or so. crews have been testing the signals here. they do seem to be working just fine. the man of the bike went through the gates that were down because of a commuter train approaching. the red flashing lights were working, the audible bell, and the train sounded its horn, but

the horror of people who could not stop him. >> he just sort of was meandering to the point where to me it looked like he did not acknowledge that the gates were coming down, and he just drove right where the train came. he went right into the train. john: quite upsetting for the people here. the victim is in his late 20's death investigation. police say a body was found in the woods today along seabrook road. the death is not considered suspicious. todd: and taking a live look out over the city of boston now, some wet weather is moving in. mike wankum is joining us. it is beautiful now, but we have changes in door.

degrees. average temperature is 78. we see some clouds in the west, even scattered showers. these will push in overnight, but it is relatively dry, stable air mass. 10:00 tonight, you see this air mass. it stays basically to the north. to the south, we will not see it, but north of the pike, you may get an occasiodo showers. temperatures near the shoreline cooler, warmer inland. over the next 12 hours, temperatures won't drop off as much. it is relatively warm, keeping an eye on the tropics as well. 1, 2, 3 separate systems. how they will have impact on the east coast and where they are heading. diane: thank you. a deadly crash on a highway in louisiana.

earlier crash get hit by an out of control charter bus. one of those firefighters was killed. the bus then hit several other cars, killing a passenger in one of those vehicles. the bus was carrying volunteers heading to help out with the flooding. police say the driver does not have the correct license and will face charges. todd: right now, two arrests connected to the murder of nba star dwyane wade's cousin. as abc's eva pilgrim reports, the chicago police are using the attention from this crime to address growing violence in the city. eva: no holding back. eddie t. johnson: we need to put them in jail and kee superintendent expressing frustration even as he announces success. the arrests of two men in the murder of nykea aldridge, the cousin of nba superstar dwyane wade. eddie t. johnson: she wasn't aware that her short life would stand as an example for what is a clear failure of the criminal justice system here in chicago. eva: the 32-year-old mother of four was pushing her newborn baby in a stroller just returning from registering her kids at school when gunfire rang

aldridge, an innocent caught in the crossfire. her death, shining a spotlight on a growing problem in chicago where murders are up a staggering 48%. nearly all caused by handguns. eddie t. johnson: chicago has recovered an illegal handgun every hour of the year of 2016 . we recover more guns than la and ny combined. eva: the men now charged in adlridge's murder, brothers 26-year-old darwin and 22-year-old derren sorrells. police say the brothers targeted a man working as a driver in the area, when they opened fire on him the bullets hit aldridge. eddie johnson these two : offenders are the prime example of the problem we face here in chicago with repeat gun offenders. eva: the family holding a prayer vigil on the city's south side, gathering with friends and community members. >> he can't have vengeance on

eva: hoping aldridge's death and these new arrests will turn a tragedy into a rallying cry and action. eva pilgrim, abc news, chicago. diane: caught on camera, a man pulled from train tracks just in the nick of time. watch this new jersey transit officer struggling to pull a man from the tracks. officer victor ortiz was called to secaucus junction on friday. when he arrived, this man ran off the train and laid down on the tracks, refusing to move. ortiz pulled the man out of the way of an oncoming train, with just seconds to spare. the 16-yr todd: tonight an lgbt newspaper will unveil a new box in salem after an explosion destroyed the old one. the editor of the rainbow times says they want to send a message that they are staying in that community. police are investigating last week's explosion as a hate crime. seven people were seen running away from the scene just before the blast. the state fire marshal is offering a $5000 reward for clues in the case. a firefighter is hurt from a three-alarm fire in northborough

family around 3:30 a.m., and they tried to put out the flames with a hose before firefighters arrived. a person inside the home had to be treated for smoke inhalation. the hurt firefighter has minor injuries. the cause of the fire is under investigation. diane: investigation. right now, police are looking for a statue, stolen from an uxbridge cemetery. the angels that you -- statue that you see in the bottom right corner is missing from its place in the graveyard. its cement base, also ripped from the ground. information to give them a call. tewksbury police are trying to find the owner of this goat. it has been roaming in the woods off of main street in tewksbury. residents called in last night, after spotting the animal. police say the goat is no danger to people in the area. todd: more signs of a dangerous mosquito-borne virus in massachusetts. an insect carrying triple-e was recently trapped in kingston. it's the fourth to test positive for the virus this year. there have already been signs of the virus in middleborough and yarmouth.

nile virus. diane: the teen charged with driving under the influence in a crash that killed a friend is set to face a judge tomorrow. 18-year-old austin aj robbins died in the crash in lunenberg early yesterday morning. another teen in the car was hurt. police arrested 19-year-old joseph knapp, the driver, shortly after the crash. there is now a memorial set up on hollis road for robbins. todd: the driver charged after crashing into a restaurant in hingham, also due in court tomorrow. charges including drug possession. three people were injured, two of them seriously, after friday night's crash at the square cafe. the passenger in the truck was also hurt. diane: a change in the checkout line. todd: another city will be joining the list of communities banning traffic bags -- plastic bags.

newscenter 5 at 5:30. jc: businesses -- diane: business is larger than 500 square feet will have to have plastic -- no plastic bags. todd: general motors recalling 368,000 vehicles because of a suspected part that could impact windshield wipers. the problem affects the 2013 models of the chevy equinox and gmc terrain.

wipers could corrode and wear out. the carmaker will cover the costs of the repairs. diane: amazon is experiencing a 30 hour work week. according to the washington post, a group of lucky amazon workers will be part of a pilot program to test out the idea. their new hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and only four days per week. the additional time will be covered by flex hours. they will receive the same benefits. amazon hopes it will attract more job candidates. where do i sign up? have a problem finding enough volunteers.

diane: taking a live look out over the city of boston on this sunday night. todd: we had a wonderful day. it has been a great weekend. changes afoot? mike: we have several things going on. i wa t to show you what is going on. this storm system became a hurricane and then left as a tropical storm. let me show you pictures. in rhode island, wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour. there was a lot of erosion going on. almost a quarter miley and in fact. another big story was the rain associated with irene. it dropped incredible amounts of

months to reopen the roads. heavy rain going on there. that was five years ago today we were talking about irene. that was five years ago, so let's talk about the tropics right now. they are very active. three systems to watch. this is invest 99, this is gaston, and this is a new one which may get the name hermine if it gets together. this is now a category three hurricane. it is in the middle of the atlantic, tracking based on computer models, going to the north atlantic and may eventually get to europe as a windy rainstorm in about 10 days. invest 99 too disorganized to get a name. if you look at the computer models, look where it is heading. into the gulf of mexico, over louisiana. we need the rain, they don't.

low temperatures in the 50's, some spots in the 40's through labor day weekend. it will be cool, closer to normal. it has been hot the last couple of weeks. todd: thank you. he did say five on the opioid 40. crisis, the fight against drug addiction goes global with international overdose awareness day coming up this week. several massachusetts communities, including marlborough, quincy, and worcester, will host candlelight vigils and other events this thursday. these events are part of hundreds taking place around the in the south shore, a local group aims to teach parents how to spot drug use in teens. on wednesday, the group south shore facts will open an interactive exhibit in the hanover mall that looks like a typical teenage bedroom. except it's full of fake drugs, concealed in places where teens tend to hide them. the group hopes to educate parents and help them spot drug addiction before it ends their child's life. the exhibit has been traveling around the area all summer.

nicole: we will start with an update on the rescue, with a man rescued from the third floor of this building. he was transferred to the hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries. this is still a very active scene. you can see debris from the building, multiple departments fighting the flames of for several hours now. we can see in the video flames rolling over the southbridge building as firefighters scrambled to get to the majority of those claims. firefighting continues. the problem is the amount of days between the floors, access have been tough. residents -- businesses and residential completely destroyed, including one of the oldest hair salons that has been here nearly three decades. >> i am totally in shock.
