framingham, and wareham. very exciting. cindy: weather-wise it is a pretty quiet day overall. a warm start this morning. it is 71 degrees right now in boston. the humidity is kicking up. a little sticky out there this morning. around 70 in beverly. through worcester county running in the 60's. there are a few in from the west and north this morning. they will be a couple of showers two, most of these falling apart. a sprinkle around derry new hampshire right now. there was a front pressing through this morning. he will see some clouds and can't rule out one or two light showers or sprinkles near the pike. this is dropping southward by noontime we are clearing it out as you get away from the south

we're following breaking news right now on the eye: an investigation is underway after flames tear through a multi family home in lawrence. you can see lames shooting through the roof of the home on lafayette avenue. the fire started around 1:30 this morning. nobody was hurt. randy: also breaking overnight, a false report of a gunman at los angeles international airport prompts evacuations and then flight delays. emily: hundreds of people were stranded outside the airport and traffic was backed up for miles in the panic. police say they searched the terminals and found no evidence of a shooting. they say the report was spurred what caused them. that comes just weeks after another false alarm at new york's jfk airport. loud olympic celebrations were the source in that incident. randy: right now we are getting new details about this crash that sheered the roof right off a duck boat. passengers were in boston. the incident now the subject of at least two investigations. emily: the eyeopener's sera congi is live in boston with how the company is responding this

the duck boat company are both investigating what happened. that duck boat never should have been on storrow drive. you can see what happened. part of the top of that vehicle was just sheered off when it went under an overpass. no one was hurt. the duck boat operator who had been on the job for a year says he was diverted to storrow because of a detour. but it's not clear why or by whom. last night, the company released a statement saying the driver's actions, although not intentional, will be under review by company safety experts who will conduct a thorough analysis of this event. you'll remember, lawmakers have been working on new safety regulations for all tour companies after a woman was killed in a collision with a duck boat on beacon hill. ahead in our next half hour exclusive interviews with passengers on board the duck boat in this latest incident.

the teenager accused in a drunk driving crash that killed this 18-year-old is expected in court today. police arrested 19-year-old joseph knapp after saturday morning's crash on hollis road in lunenberg. the driver's friend 18-year-old austin a.j. robbins was killed. another teen in the car was hurt. right now we are expecting new details in an alarming attack on the north shore. the eyeopener's doug meehan is live in gloucester where the suspect will face a judge this morning. doug: police say that suspect attacked a disabled woman near the rockport commuter rail station. later he is expected to be here in court to answer those charges. angel castro is accused of knocking the victim to the ground on wednesday before trying to remove her clothes. she screamed and fought back. police say that scared castro off. police released this surveillance video a short time after the crime which helped them track castro down. it was taken inside a nearby

the 22-year-old suspect is facing a number of charges including attempted rape. we hope to learn more when he's arraigned later this morning. emily: right now investigators are not ruling out arson after two fires in just one day in southbridge. both making for tense moments for firefighters and tough losses for business and homeowners. it started with flames tearing through a building on main street. maria colon was insider her business she's built for decades. it was gone in a matter of minutes. >> i have been there for ten years. i have put my heart and soul into this business. emily: just as they got that six alarm fire under control another one just blocks away. one neighbor broke down the door to alert people living in the 3 story apartment building. the fire chief says it's very unusual to have two major fires in one night. so, they're not ruling anything

fortunately there were no serious injuries. this morning the man accused in the murders of two nuns in mississippi including one from massachusetts, will face a judge. that's as loved ones prepare to say their final goodbyes today. erika is here with what we can expect. erika: a funeral mass will be held in mississippi today for sisters margaret held and paula merrill. meantime, the man police say is responsible for their murders will appear in court for the first time. rodney sanders is facing capital murder charges and could get the death penalty. police say he confessed tohe crime but did not give a motive. yesterday, a moment of silence was held for sister merrill at st. patrick's in stoneham, where she still has strong ties. >> we pray that the pointless murder will awaken consciousness and lead to a change and a renewed commitment to serving those that are most in need. erika: merrill moved down south in the 1980s. today's funeral mass will be

probation after being convicted last year of felony dui. we're hoping to learn more in court today. randy: right now two brothers , are held without bail charged in the shooting death of a woman in chicago. the victim a mother of four, and cousin to nba star dwyane wade. family members gathered yesterday to remember 32-year-old nykea aldridge. she was pushing her newborn baby, just returning from registering her kids at school, when shots were fired friday afternoon. police say darwin and derren sorrells were targeting someone else, when the bullets hit aldridge. both, convicted felons who were out on parole. the police chief says her death highlights an even bigger problem in the city. >> chicago has recovered and illegal handgun every hour of the year 2016. we recover more guns than los angeles and new york combined.

will help bring changes to the criminal justice system in chicago. emily: two people are dead, dozens more hurt, after a bus carrying flood relief workers to baton rouge slams into a crash scene in louisiana. this morning that driver, who police say should not have been behind the wheel, is facing charges. firefighters responded early yesterday to a pick up truck crash on interstate 10. minutes later, the tour bus plowed into the scene hitting three firefightean other vehicles. a passenger in one vehicle was killed. the three firefighters were sent over the edge of the highway. >> get another latter. emily: one of those firefighters was pronounced dead. police say the bus driver does not have a license, and is in the u.s. illegally. they believe many of the workers on the bus are also here illegally. going north for help fighting

randy: there is an investigation after a duck boat hits an overpass ripping the roof right off. this morning we are getting new details about that crash. emily: the eyeopener's sera congi is live in boston where passengers are talking only to newscenter 5. sera: state police are trying to decide if that duck boat driver should be cited. the vehicle should never have been on storrow drive because of take a look at what happened. the crash happened just 15 minutes into the tour. piece of metal torn off as the duck boat crumpled under a storrow drive overpass. the company says the first year driver was diverted because of an earlier detour. passengers were okay but clearly shaken.

student was stabbed to death, another was hurt. no suspects have been identified. both cornell and ithaca are now offering counseling. emily: two united airlines pilots are due in court today accused of showing up to work drunk. scotland police arrested the pilots for suspected intoxication, before a flight was set to take off for newark, new jersey. saturday's flight with 141 people on board was delayed 10 hours while the airline found replacements. both pilots have been fired. randy: six scientists planning to travel to mars complete a year long simulation program. the scientists have lived in a dome in hawaii in near isolation for the last year. they could go outside only while wearing spacesuits. it's the second longest simulation of its kind. scientists say overall, it was a success. emily: the red sox have a tough series finale against the royals. david ortiz gets the sox on the board in the bottom of the fourth with a solo homerun.
