that only sky 5 was over. newscenter 5's john atwater is live in tiverton tonight. john: it was a tricky rescue. the workers were hanging below the bridge here for over two hours this afternoon from -- and you can see the delicate rescue. a second bucket truck was routed to rescue the workers that were trapped in their bucket. the rescue was seamless, the workers walked onto the second bucket and then they were taken up te for more than two hours they waited for another worker to make his way down to them in the second bucket. >> he very carefully and slowly maneuvered that basket back of onto the bridge and all of them were safe and everyone was very pleased. -- pleased to see that. the man who did that in the white basket needs to be commended.

protocol but it looks like something on that truck malfunctioned and the rescuers said the workers are going to be just fine. maria police say this holliston : man was collecting stun guns, mace, and the parts to build a powerful weapon at his home, he's now charged with making dangerous plans for that weapons stockpile, which included the assasination of president obama. he was in court today on those charges. so was our shaun chaiyabhat. he joins us live from south boston. sen. sandersshaun: fbi says he e threats and had begun to stockpile weapons. and we've learned his ex-wife also feared for her safety. 48-year-old old joseph gargiulo, appeared in federal court with shackles on his wrists and ankles. the fbi arrested him saturday. after raiding his holliston home the day before. fbi was around everywhere. >> they laid everything out on the front.

maybe, i am not really sure. fbi found weapons ammunition and parts to make an ar-15 rifle. they also found handwritten notes threatening to kill muslims. a tip said he will plant bombs in police stations and kill as many homeland security officers as he can before they kill him and that he plans to chain a mosque closed and burn it down that tip said. he believes that the structure of america will collapse and that america is going to enter a state of martial law. >> i've known mr gargiulo for about 12 years, i know what kind this is not something he would ever do. i know where the accusations come from. shaun: his attorney, says the tip came just before gargiulo was due to court for a restraining order placed by his ex-wife. in that case a judge ordered gargiulo could not have weapons. neighbors say he kept to himself. >> i didn't really get a good feel for him. he was kind of off, you could tell. there was just something different about him.

years in prison. ed: tonight, a former uber driver is being held on $10 ,000 bail, accused of exposing himself pedestrians, while driving livery vehicles. 28-year-old uber driver paul griffin is seen here being led into court today. griffin was arrested yesterday after allegedly exposing himself to a young female in everett the same victim he allegedly exposed himself to last month. who exposed himself to her previously and this was july 20, she had seen him do it again on august 28. ed: everett police say, after reading him his miranda rights, mr. griffin stated that he was a criminal and that he has a problem with exposing himself and acting inappropriate with young girls. maria: a boston university student is out on bail tonight, after being charged in the crash that killed his friend. prosecutors say 19-year-old joseph kapp had a blood alcohol

legal limit when he crashed his car into a tree in lunenburg early saturday morning. 18-year-old austin aj robbins was killed in that crash. a third teenager suffered a minor arm injury. the victim's mother says her son and the driver were best friends. >> they made a terrible mistake and unfortunately austin paid the price. he was the kid that everyone wanted to be with. motor vehicular homicide. he's due back in court at the end of next month. ed there are still no answers in : princeton, more than 3 weeks after vanessa marcotte was killed while she was out for a run. as newscenter 5's juli mcdonald tells us, the town is still on edge. juli: >> with few visible updates in this investigation many are still worried, still wondering whether they need to

a lot of people. it's small enough, it's light enough. juli: mary almstrom of wayne's weaponry in west boylston says there's been a slight increase in sales this august. but the reason why, is troubling. she's seen about a dozen customers over the past 3 weeks who are looking for ways to protect themselves after vanessa marcotte was murdered just a few miles away. >> people are looking for information on what they should have. then they'll come back. they want something that will have a lot of kick but they want something juli: she said there's also been more interest in pepper spray. without any arrests, neighbors are simply looking for some peace of mind. >> whether he's gone from the area, i'm sure he's long gone. but you don't know. juli: investigators believe marcotte fought back against her killer. the week of her murder, police asked the public to be on the lookout for men with scratches or cuts, or to be mindful of vehicles they saw august 7 on brooks station road in princeton. as of this afternoon, state police told newscenter 5 they've received more than 990 calls on

specifically to this investigation. state police couldn't give any specifics about the tips they've received, but said when the calls come in the intelligence, -- they are prioritized by the intelligence or fusion center based on what seems most credible. detectives are working every day to follow up on the leads. maria: a warning tonight from the billerica fire department after a laptop charger sparks a major fire. take a look at what is leftover of the charger, it burned a hole right through the floor. firefighters say. the family that lives in the home on boston road was away for the weekend. the fire slowly heated the rug until it eventually went up in flames. firefighters say this happens more than you might think. the scariest scenario is people who sleep with their cell phones in the bed while charging.

covered by a pillow, it catches on fire. smoke is the number one killer in a fire. not to much the flames. maria: firefighters recommend only using a charger that has been approved by the manufacturer. ed a puppy is being blamed for : this fire in berwick, maine. fire investigators say the dog knocked over a burning candle in one of the apartments in this building early yesterday morning. one person was seriously burned and was flown to mass general. five families are homeless because of the fire. this kitten is safe tonight after nearly going for a wild ride. under the muffler of a car. beverly police and animal control got the animal out. the kitten is being treated for heatstroke, but is expected to make a full recovery. maria: the accusation he made about to massachusetts cities

anthony weiner. this comes after a new york post report that weiner was sexting again, reporting that this time his son was in one of the pictures while he was taking a picture of himself, abedin put out a statement announcing the split and asking for privacy. weiner resigned from congress after a sexting scandal in 2011. more controversial comments from maine governor paul lepage. and they happened in boston. at a conference, he linked the opioid epidemic in his state to drug dealers from massachusetts, connecticut and new york. he specifically singled out people coming from lowell and lawrence and repeated earlier comments where he claimed the majority of drug suspects in his state are black and hispanic. maine lawmakers are now considering a special session to censure him. ed: there will be no parole for the man who killed john lennon. this is the ninth time new york state has denied parole for mark david chapman. he shot and killed lennon in manhattan on december 8 1980. the parole board put out a
