maria: a man stabbed. five investigates the public -- private party with public money that got to officials suspended. the arrest that turned into an all-out brawl. the close encounter with a killer shark. >> from boston's news later, this is wcvb newscenter five at seven. ed: we are tracking breaking news, the man stabbed with the shaft of a golf club. maria: this happened at the

taken out right there from this helicopter that landed just a short time ago. we can tell you that one person has just been taken into custody with all of this. sources are telling us that all of this involves some kind of fight in that break heart reservation and the helicopter landed there and now they are gingerly taking this victim away from that scene after he was stabbed with a golf club. ed: this video was taken an hour or ago. he was loaded onto a medical helicopter and flown off site. that is breaking at seven. also right now a teenager has serious injuries after he was hit by a car while on his bike. the 17-year-old was hit new the intersection of walnuts and deadly streets.

the elderly driver remains unseen. right now we are tracking the tropics watching not one or two but three systems. maria: one of them does have the potential, that is why we are talking about it to impact part of the labor day weekend. chief meteorologist harvey leonard with the storm track. harvey: this is tropical depression nine but likely to be a tropical storm in the gulf of mexico. i want to give you the most likely range. it would go toward the florida peninsula and that is where there are some tropical and hurricane watches in effect in the upper florida coast. it will emerge off the carolina coast looking as if it will go pretty far out to sea but there is some subtle suggestions that it may take a little bit of a loop so much closer to new england during the middle or second half of labor day weekend. that is what we will have to follow carefully and see. rough seas and rip current issues are very likely for this upcoming wit -- labor day

driven by acr staff used to transport guests from the party to the esplanade. spectators started filling in the oval but some started lighting out at the esplanade early this morning. >> they were waste into a reserved maria p area as little as 15 minutes before the main event. records obtained by five investigates show thvi roy went out to more than a dozen state employees. both men are suspended without pay for one week for utilizing dcr writ -- resources for their private event. they reimburse the state more than $800 to cover the cost of the cards and the staff driving them. that money will also cover the cost of paying the state employee who planed the party making phone calls, sending emails, preparing invitations and maintaining a guest list

hour printing the invitations using state office supplies including card stock, envelopes, and stamps. after we started asking questions the dcr commissioner and the deputy commissioner reported the party to the ethics commission which ordered them to undergo additional ethics training and reimburse the state. the executive office of energy and environmental affairs released this statement saying the use of state resources for this private event was entirely inappropriate and they're pleased that commissioner roy and deputy commissioner sisk full reimbursed the state so that not a single tax dollar was wasted. ed: right now a man from framingham facing charges after this assault on officers. as you can see it is clearly on cell phone video showing the extended struggle between the man and two police officers. that's get to john atwater live in framingham to explain how that came to an end.

men would not give up. the officers never drew their weapons. both officer struggled to restrain the 20 new-year-old suspect as he punches them. the three hustle in the kitchen, as the violent exchange was recorded on a cell phone. >> it was clearly an assault on the officers to the point where it looked like they were fighting for their lives. john: the suspects girlfriend reported he had been hitting her. as soon as officers arrived they encountered powerful resistance from the suspect who refuses to comply with their commands. >> it is one of the worst assaults i have seen between a combatant and officers and i think they did an excellent job. >> a third officer arrives and it taser helps them assists -- subject to him.

but the chief said they are hoping to return to the four soon. >> this has the potential to be much worse. it was not for the decisive and quick auction they took. john: the suspect is facing several charges but he is out on bail tonight. maria: a big scare for two families and plymouth. they came home and found a half naked stranger in their home. is live in plymouth shaun, you talked to those victims? >> i heard the lady of at the house started going crazy, pushing someone out the door. quickly had no pants, no boxers on. shaun: they watched a half naked men being shoved and running down the beach. one victim said she woke up to find a naked stranger in her home tapping her on the

her children's room. >> and went up the stairs into one of our sons bedrooms and her mother's bedroom and came down the stairs and they had dozed off watching tv and she said they had tapped her on the shoulder and she jumped up and said who are you and then she got them out of the house and they call the police. shaun: police canvassed the beach but no suspect inside. >> you come here you do nan we have never been afraid with open doors. shaun: there were no signs of forced entry in either of those cases. and: not seven, investigators are looking into how a nursing home patient got a gun which he used to take his own life. the patient was found in his room at grosvenor park friday night. the district attorney's office

the nursing home says staff checked on the man an hour before his death. a spokesperson says the nursing is conducting its own internal investigation to determine if there are any steps needed to prevent a similar incident. there is a ban on firearms at the property. maria boston firefighters were : on the scene of this brush fire in west roxbury today. flames broke out just after two behind roxbury latin and the quar the fire reached two-alarms before heavy flames were knocked down. a 4-alarm brush fire broke out in the same area just over a week ago. ed: just how big that shark was. harvey: this is the one that will make the closest path and it could coincide with a portion of labor day weekend.
