but that doesn't mean that we won't see some of the effects here in new england. good morning. >> as we're ibbed kating we start with a decent weekend. but things could change. >> today and saturday are going to be great. this is down in florida now about 1,000 miles away. it has time to get here. it will slow down and stall. i think sunday night into labor day is kind of the primary time period as we start toov now tropical storm the winds are 70 miles an hour. it is weakening over land but look at the rainfall. heavy bands spiraling through florida. that red box is a tornado watch box still dealing with hurricane watches and warnings. so we will continue to watch this as it shifts up into the carolinas as we head into tonight. and by the wee hours of tomorrow morning it's reemerging as a tropical storm here off the outer banks of north carolina.

and start to drift in our direction. sunday monday into tuesday it will sit here and far enough to our south will be along the mid-atlantic states from new jersey to the delmarva but we will start to get some fringe effects as we head toward sunday night and monday. the most likely area to get into stronger winds and heavy rain along the south. and again that is sunday night into labor day on monday. in the meantime, things are pretty the skies have cleared out. high pressure moving in. 50-60s this morning. much more coming up. >> quiet start on this friday morning. live look outside. here's a check of the expressway. you can see heading to the top. still an issue-free trip as well if you're heading into boston you're doing fine.

barnard field road. we know that state attorney general's office is now leading this investigation. >> an 18-year-old man accused of stabbing another teenager with a golf club is expected back in court today. a dangerousness hearing will be held for curtis day. accuse ch of stabbing another 18-year-old man earlier this week. the victim has been released from the hospital now. >> right now a medford woman is facing charges accused of drunk and high while baby sitting a 3-year-old boy. this is not the first time the 51-year-old has been in trouble with police. susan devrow was found. neighbor called police who reunited the little boy with his mother. the family said they hired her in the spring from popular baby sitting site care dfpblgt >> i was hired off a website like that.

investigating the farm and to care for the survivoring animals. more than 1,000 were found in awful conditions. a number were discovered dead, others so sick they had to be put down. expenses now include moving, feeding, caring for the animals, overtime for police. they have helped create an emergency shelter for many animals as officials determine where they should end up. the farm property was divided into about 20 farng people said as many as two dozen people may face charges. >> boston police commissioner could be called to testify in a lawsuit against the police department over its body camera pilot program. an attorney for one of the police unions tells the herald commissioner evans will likely take the stand next week. the commission had agreed to the pilot program if officers

racing now towards the north-northeast at 14 miles an hour. producing tremendous bands of rain spiraling in from the ocean and this red box is a tornado watch box typically you see quick spinups and weak tornadoes. 5-10 inches of rain and that swath of flooding rain is going to continue to lift up through the carolinas tonight and into saturday. then from there hem oin is going to continue up the coast providing heavier northern edge is going to try and get some rain in here by the tail end of the holiday weekend. there you see the tropical storm. these red lines are warnings that are up. these are up all the way through the carolinas because overnight this is where hermione is going to be down to about 45 miles an hour. and then we get into sunday. it is reemerging here back into the waters of the atlantic where it is going to strengthen and then eventually weaken as

wednesday of next week. this thing is going to be sitting here and meandering. look how wide the cone is. if it's doing it on the northern end closer to us the impacts will be greater. if it's farther south we will be removed from any wind and rape. some uncertainty but the greatest likelihood of being impacted by stronger winds and rain with this sunday night into monday down along the south coast the cape and islands and rough surf going to be an issue for all. cloudy, the humidity has come down. you can see how the skies have cleared and we have high pressure moving in. so cooler less humid day out the door right now some of you in the 50s especially through worcester county. sunshine with building afternoon clouds. pretty comfortable overnight. even a few 40's. around 60 downtown. the skies are clear. we'll wake up to a good amount

afternoon. partly to at times mostly sunny skies for your saturday. here's hermione saturday night and sunday morning. notice where the rain shield still to our south. clouds, wind on sunday. could see gusts 30-40 miles an hour. plus down along the south coast and cape. the rain potential through monday is greatest. here in southeastern massachusetts where we could see half an inch to an inch of that's when the impacts are coming in as we head towards sunday night and monday. so saturday, sunday now on the cape looking ok. the clouds are increasing the rain threat now on labor day. if you're traveling north you're removed from the impacts but going to linger off the coastline. it will stick around a while. >> we can enjoy friday, saturday, most of sunday.

involved in a deadly hit and run crash. police believe barbara chement, a beloved town leader stepped into the truck's path on main street yesterday. at this point the driver has not been charged. a suspicious death is under investigation in dumb barton, new hampshire. state police were at a home for several hours. we'll bring you more as we get it. this arlington baby sither is facing charges. police say she was drunk and high while baby sitting a 3-year-old boy. she was allegedly found stumbling down the street wednesday afternoon. the boy was not hurt. >> right now federal investigators are looking into three new cases of airplanes targeted with blinding green laser lights. >> the results could be catastrophic and julie is live at logan where two of those incidents are under investigation. >> pilots here reported two separate incidents of those powerful green lasers shooting

the first happened around 9:17 wednesday night. an american airlines flight said the laser illuminated the aircraft ten miles northeast of logan airport. the second happened about two minutes later to a delta airlines crew in the same area. miles away there was a third incident, a pilot there around 8:53 p.m. reported that their aircraft was targeted with a green laser while flying over the airport. state police and federal authorities have laysers are very dangerous. they can actually temporarily blind the pilots when they see them. the crime carries a fine up to $100,000 or up to five years in prison. >> thank you. right now two families are demandsing answers after two boys sent home on the wrong flights. five-year-old andy martinez was

storm hits. it has been downgraded just a little bit now. of course the grade below but still a problem. >> we talked so much about the rain coming on in, the wind. but that surf was so rough. talking about 20-foot seas down there just off the west coast of florida and a big surge overnight close to sitch foot storm surge. some of the surf action and the waves off the west coast of florida. but i want to hermione works up the coastline how they'll prop gate northward. saturday then sunday labor day you can see the strongest waves highest waves to our south but they're going to be building around here. towards sunday and monday 10-15 foot seas with much stronger than that to our south. i know it's a big holiday weekend. looks like the greatest impacts

surf. rip current throughout the weekend. and the rain and wind likely impacting greatest the south coast cape and islands closer to the storm. so the farther north you go you're getting out of this. if you're going to be across northern parts of massachusetts, southern new hampshire, i don't think you need to worry about much impact. we're in good shape. 64 we have dried out. the dew point down in the 50s so feeling much moffer comfortable. low 50s in the suburbs. so a much cooler start. a dry day today as high pressure noses but the clouds will build as temperatures come up into the low to mid 70s. fairly light north easterly wind. here comes hermione up the coast. notice the swath of rain to our south but the clouds increase

reported the first laser that flight about 10 miles northeast of logan airport. then a delta pilot had to deal with the same minutes later. on the other side of the state a pilot reported seeing another green laser. and this crime carries a $100,000 fine or up to five years in prison. it is not just a nuisance. it can actually temporarily blind the pilots putting lives in danger. a donation going to westport to deal with what's been called the worst case of animal cruelty in our area. more than a thousand animals were found in just awful conditions back in july. a number of the animals were dead, others so sick they had to be euthanized.
