emily: a medford woman is facing charges accused of being drunk and high while babysitting a three-year-old boy in arlington, and this is not the first time the 51-year-old has been in trouble. they say that susan devereaux was found stumbling down edgerton street wednesday afternoon. the neighbor called police who reunited the little boy with her mother. the family says they hired babysitting website care.com. >> i was hired off a website like that so it's scary. it makes us look bad when we're not all like that. >> police say that she has been arrested before for motor vehicle violations and receiving stolen property. she will face a judge on reckless endangerment charges. watertown police are investigating after a woman claims that she was being followed during a dog last night. she was running down the street when a suspicious man approached

square and again near the hosmer school. the jogger was not hurt. randy: there's been a lot of help for the hundreds of animals found here in the deplorable conditions on this farm in west mort, massachusetts. erika here with the big situation. >> every dollar of a $2 million donation is expected to be needed to respond to the worst case of farm animal cruelty ever found in our the aspca stepped up with that big give to help offset the cost of investigating the farm in west port. 1,000 animals were found in awful conditions and police searched the property in july. some were dead and others so sick that they had to be put down, expenses include moving, feeding, caring for the animals and also overtime for police, and the aspca has helped to create an emergency shelter for many of the animals, as

into about 20 tenant farming lots. police have said two dozen people may face charges in this. >> bill evans could be called to testify in a lawsuit against the police department over the body camera pilot program, an foreign for the largest police union in the city says that commissioner evans will likely take the stand next week. the police union has agreed to the program, if officers so the commissioner assigned them to 100 officers. the program was supposed to start today and is now scheduled to start on september 12. >> hillary clinton will travel on the same plane as her press corps. the nominee will replace her small private jet with a significantly larger aircraft that she will share with her campaign staff, secret service and reporters. that new plane will take flight on monday, and clinton has come under fire, especially from

racing towards the north, northeast at 14, and on that track, it will be moving into the carolinas overnight, and then reemerging as the tropical storm off the coast as we get into sunday, and from there it's likely going to weaken and lose the tropical characteristics but there are watches up along the mid atlantic, and up through southern new jersey, but here's the problem. this thing from sunday, monday, and into tuesday and wednesday, is just going to get stuck, stall out, and sit and spin to concerned that the seas are going to be building and the surf will be building, and it's going to pound the coastline but we'll be on the northern edge, so the farther south that you are in new england, south coast, and cape and the islands, you have got a moderate risk that you will get into stronger winds and heavier rain. that looks like it will happen now later in the weekend, on sunday night and into labor day on monday so sunday is ok. 60 in worcester. 65 out the door in boston but look at orange down to 49. high pressure building out of

and we'll see sunshine with building clouds as we climb into the low to mid 70s here in the afternoon, and tonight, comfortable for sleeping. cool, 50s to 60 degrees for overnight lows, and we have got mainly clear skies this evening. sunshine to start on saturday, and some high clouds will start to stream in, in the afternoon but it's a bright day overall, and as hermine sits here, running into the high pressure, that's going to increase the easterly wind, so the winds pick up during the day on sunday, but notice by sunday morning all that rain is still to the look at the winds, gusting to 40 to 50 miles per hour on the south coast and the cape late on sunday, and those winds are with us into labor day, as well, so we're going to feel the impacts but the rain threat, spreads in on sunday night and monday and it will be heaviest close to an inch of rain, and down in southeastern massachusetts, so most of your weekend is dry. we get into sunday. we're going to watch that shield of rain get closer to us, but during the daylight hours notice where it is. we get into sunday evening.

storm hermine is moving across florida right now. it made landfall as a hurricane overnight before being downgraded. this is video in from tallahassee. heavy rain, flooding, happening there right now, and good morning, i'm emily riemer. randy: aim randy price, let's get to cindy with the affects that we could feel here after the weekend. cindy: it is going to be several days before hermine goes up the coastline, 70 miles per hour winds, this is a storm you can see the heavy bands of rain through florida up into the carolinas, and the threat box, as a tornado watch, often you do see with these hurricanes, and tornadoes happening very quickly. for us any timing with potential impacts, will be sunday night into tuesday with rough surf and a rip current risk but it's down along the south coast that we have the greatest risk of getting into some of the strongest winds and the heavier rain as well. the farther north you go the

light. emily: the eyeopener's julie mcdonald is live at logan where two of those are under investigation. julie? >> emily and randy, the pilots here, two of them reported separate incidents on wednesday night involving the powerful green lasers shooting directly into the cockpit, the first happened at 9:17 in the evening when american airlines flight said the laser illuminated the aircraft when it was ten miles northeast of logan airpo the second half in two minutes later to a delta airlines' crew. miles away, there was a third incident, a pilot reported around 8:53:00 p.m. that their hawker aircraft -- aircraft was targeted with a green laser. state police and federal authorities have been notified. they instruments that these green lasers are very dangerous. they can temporarily blind pilots. it carries a fine of 100,000, or

live at logan airport this morning, i'm julie mcdonald, wcvb newscenter 5. emily: right now two families are demanding answers after two little boys were sent home on the wrong flight. five-year-old andy martinez traveled with his mother to visit family in the dominican republic. she left early paying jetblue to have them escort her son home but he ended up in boston. another boy was brought back to new york on martinez's flight and his mother >> the jetblue employees who were responsible for this should be ashamed of their behavior. >> both boys were returned safely to their parents, and jetblue says it is reviewing the incident and stresses that the children were always under crew supervision. randy: a bit more promising news in the battle against the opioid epidemic. overdoses in manchester, new hampshire are dropping just a bit.

in july the number was 81. and last september it was over 100. health experts credit an increase in awareness and drug safety programs in that city. several plastic orange flamingos stolen in weare, new hampshire have been returned now. along with an apology. birds all over town are in support of 12-year-old abby van dyke who is undergoing treatment for leukemia. several of the flamingos disappeared from colby road last month. but yesterdayol apologized and said that they had no idea what the birds represented. the letter also came with a cash donation. >> colin kaepernick says his national anthem protest has been misinterpreted. his clarification as he makes a new comment, and samsung will stop selling one of the galaxy models. the danger making that phone a threat to users. randy: heavy rain and flooding

>> just about 6:44, the eyeopener team ready with your news to go in milford, boston and erika is tracking developments in a case of animal abuse. >> first we hear, hurricane hermine has made landfall in the overnight hours, and they are saying this is a video just in from the key as the storm came ashore on the gulf coast. it has been downgraded at this point. >> the winds are 70 miles per hour, and it will go into georgia, so this is moving, it is weakening over land but wow, produced quite a surge, about a six-foot surge in cedar key and tremendous rainfall, still dealing with that right now through florida and beyond. take a look at the radar imagery, and you can see where we have the intense rain bands, not just over florida but up, steady rain through georgia and you can see the bands shifting up into the carolinas, as well. the seas were building, and as

the shore, look at the wave heights building and notice the ledge here, you get into this yellow, about a 20-foot wave height, and that's going to propagate, so the seas are going to be building around here, and as we get into sunday, and sunday night and monday, our south and east facing coastlines off in an -- nantucket, we get wet winds of 10 to 15 feet, but rough surf, timing, sunday night and into tuesday, and i thinkwi wind down along the south coast ask the cape. it looks like the most likely area to get the strongest winds so that means that saturday, you are fine, and most of sunday you are fine, and it's that sunday night and labor day on monday. and right now we have sunshine. 65 degrees. the air has dried out with dewpoints in the 50s. and we're starting out in the 60s in a lot of spots, but 50s out there, so a cooler start with a good amount of sunshine. high pressure nosing on in so it will be a day with just sunshine

>> two pilots on separate flights forced to deal with lasers pointed into the cockpit. at 9:17 on wednesday an american airlines' pilot reported the first laser. that was ten miles northeast of logan, and then a delta crew had to deal with the same issue. on the other side of this, a pilot flying over north adams reported seeing a green laser at 8:53 that night. it carries a $100,000 fine or up to five years in prison, and it's not it can cause temporary blindness for pilots putting lives in danger. live at logan airport, i'm julie mcdonald, wcvb newscenter 5. emily: a big donation is going to west port to deal with what's been called the worst case of farm animal cruelty found in our area. the aspca giving $2 million to help offset the cost of investigating this farm where more than 1,000 animals were found in awful conditions back in july.
