huh? >> shut the windows in the house. >> keep the humidity out. this kind of muggy feel is going to be with us the next few days, so get used to it. we've got temperatures this morning starting out in the mid 60s on average, although closer to 70 on the cape. you can actually see the city of boston. still dark. sun not up until 6:15. yesterday at this time you could see a thing because of the fog. there's patchy fog this morning but it's away from the cot visibility is around a quarter of a mile. you see we have this easterly flow. so all of a sudden you get brief showers, pockets of mist and drizzle that develop and move through one community pretty rapidly. so good idea to have an umbrella with you as you walk out the door. believe it or not, this is all associated with the remnants of hermine here sitting and spinning to our south. so we're going to keep a fair amount of clouds in the forecast today with patches of mist and drizzle this morning. skies will brighten up a little bit between the clouds as we get

but still can't rule out a spot shower passing through your town today. but that east-northeasterly wind 10 to 15, keeping us in the 70s along the coastline. we'll have the timeline on any showers the rest of the day and big heat on the way coming up. but right now we want to get you to the roads and see how we're looking. good morning, olessa. >> so far, a live look at the expressway. this is by the gas tank and the northbound side heading to the top of the screen. so far, not too bad as far as the volume goes. let's ride. construction clearing 93 south and on the expressway by mass avenue south of town we're fine, 24 looks ok. no issues on 95 or route 3. the pike is quiet and your last construction zone here on 128 at highland avenue. north of town, no problems right now. so far, trains and buses are starting the morning on schedule. randy: police are issuing a warning after revealing pictures of high school students turned up on snapchat. emily: doug meehan is live in

behind this disturbing trend. doug? reporter: emily and randy, good morning. a tough first day of school here for the students in worcester. the focus -- social media safety. here's why. worcester high school officials met with the sophomore class yesterday after compromising photos of boys ended up on the social media app. police have no information that girls were targeted. but for parents, this is a wake-up call. >> and quiet frankly we haven't them about how vigilant they have to be and how vigilant we have to be. so i'm going to have that talk as soon as i get home. reporter: police at this point do not know if the person posting the photos is a student. but they do know that this is a crime. even sending compromising pictures of themselves is dissemination of child pornography. that's a felony. live in worcester this morning,

emily: we're getting details about a disturbing discovery in a new hampshire home. the family of a woman found dead have no idea who would want to hurt her. the victim is joanne boucher. it's unclear how she died. the state police major crimes unit was at the caramel drive home much of the day yesterday. joanne boucher had been divorced for about 18 years. her ex-husband lives in ve police say this man intentionally drove his car into the cape cod canal. this is the driver swimming to shore after gunning his car down a service road and going into the canal. witnesses say the unidentified driver planned to end up in the water as he backed up his ford to the top of the road and took off. >> he was airborne. caught in the wires. they were up pretty high. ripped off the hood.

something blew up on the pole. when he hit the water, the car floated. emily: several power lines were taken out by that flying car. the driver faces several charges, including operating to endanger. randy: new this morning, new numbers showing massachusetts is well below the national average when it comes to deporting undocumented immigrants. a herald review found that in the last year the bay state deported just 26.9% of illegal immigrants who came before the the lowest of any state and far lower than the national average of 46.4%. the herald reports it's a rate that has dropped every year since 2006 when 80.5% were deported. donald trump and hillary clinton are getting ready for a critical moment in their fight for the white house with less than nine weeks to go. the pressure is definitely on. >>

taking part in a forum on foreign policy. and while they won't share the stage, this could serve as an important preview of the debates to come. the battleground states will be the big focus today. bill clinton campaigns in florida. chelsea clinton in pennsylvania. and donald trump is set to deliver a policy speech in philadelphia this morning. last night in north carolina, he hit his rival hard, saying that she is not qualified for the oval office. he she's done. her conduct is disqualifying. reporter: a year later, hillary clinton is still answering questions about her use of a private e-mail server while she was secretary of state. she's still apologizing, as she did in an exclusive interview with abc's david muir. >> there are no excuses. i take responsibility, i made a

obviously i wish i could do differently what happened. i certainly would never do that again. reporter: hillary clinton will get help on the campaign trail. first lady michelle obama expected to campaign with her next week in virginia. randy: and massachusetts voters are going to the polls tomorrow. they are expected to do that in a very small number. secretary of state the predicting as few as 8% of voters will turn out for the that's largely because of any statewide races. most incumbent lawmakers are unopposed. emily: hundreds of students are scrambling after itt tech shut down. the school closed the 130 campuses across the country, leaves students with -- leaving students with debt and no diploma. attorney general maureen healey filed a lawsuit against itt earlier in the year, calling it

here. >> cancel all payments to the school, save your documentation, contact our office so that you can apply for a discharge of all of your federal loans. emily: in a statement, itt says, with what we believe is a complete disregard by the u.s. department of education for due process to the company, hundreds of thousands of current students and alumni and more than 8,000 employees will be negatively affected. healey says her office will announce on students can attend for assistance. randy: new this morning, to help deter crime in certain neighborhoods, a city council subcommittee gave approval last night to a plan to buy 45 surveillance cameras. money used for the carolinas was approv approved. boston police make two more

visibility is quarter of a mile. what's left of hermine sitting and spinning to our south. that easterly flow off the ocean is keeping a lot of clouds around and giving us that mist and drizzle from time to time. the wave action is turned up a little bit. you can see two to 4-foot seas here. there is still a high surf advisory along the south coast beaches and the islands where there's the highest risk for rip currents. it's not reall we're looking at a lot of clouds. temperatures into the mid 70s near the coastline. upper 70s close to 80 degrees farther inland. the wind at about 10 to 15 miles per hour. drizzle this morning. towards lunchtime most of that is gone and most of us are dry. a lot of clouds, maybe some breaks of sun here and there. but a couple of spot showers here and there through the afternoon. but also more breaks in the clouds today.

be added to the list. the european union reviewing a proposal to ban imported lobsters from new england and from canada. this dispute started after sweden found 32 american lobsters in its waters that posed a threat to local sea life. american and canadian lobsters make up $200 million worth of exports into the eu each year and fishermen say a ban would devastate the local industry. a check of the markets. asian shares mostly unchanged overnight after a weak futures here are higher. today gallup is expected to release its u.s. job creations index, which will give investors insight on the job market conditions. emily: seems like everybody in boston moved on that infamous september 1 date. now thousands of people are unpacking, trying to figure out where to put everything in those tiny studios. but organizing a small apartment is easier than you might think if you get creative.

polls tomorrow, but they are expected to do that in very small numbers. the secretary of state predicts as few as 8% of voters will turn out for the primaries. randy: thank you. this morning the fight over police body cameras is going to be back in a boston courtroom. emily: the eyeopener's john atwater is live at the courthouse with details on the evidence in this battle. reporter: emily, that evidence is putting boston police union on the union. it urges officers not to participate in the body camera pilot program until a deal is reached. and then written on the top there -- sanction any officer who volunteers. the union says officers were promised they could volunteer to wear them during a pilot program, but when nobody did, commissioner william evans assigned them to 100 officers. the union denies it told officers not to take part.

volunteering? >> not at all. ever. >> we have nothing to hide. reporter: the commissioner says there are at least three local cases where video helped vindicate boston police officers. the pilot program was supposed to start last week. now it's been pushed to september 12. the aclu is also chiming in, saying that these the hearing continues this morning at 9:00. live in boston, john atwater, wcvb newscenter 5. emily: new this morning, a mother is furious after her 5-year-old daughter is let off the school bus even though no adult was there for the girl. it happened friday in east providence. that little girl was supposed to go to a ymca after school program at her school. she was mistakenly put on the bus home. her daughter sat outside for

police. >> frustrated isn't even the word. >> what is the word? >> terrifying, scared, emotional. emily: the superintendent of east providence schools says the bus driver and bus monitor have been disciplined. she says the mishap was caused by a communication issue. randy: right now, police in the city of lowell are looking for a driver who hit a 19-year-old woman. this happened monday morning at an intersection near the hawk's cafe, which is on the umass newscenter 5 that she was not in the crosswalk when she was hit by a sedan that just kept going. the woman went to the hospital but has since been released. this mural depicting maine's governor as a member of the ku klux klan is staying put. it shows paul lepage dressed as

the city leaders say no mural has ever been taken down because of content. emily: more than 200 image animals found in horrible condition are going up for adoption. the animals were rescued in july and they were sent to rescue organizations across new england, new york, new jersey and maryland. poli people may face charges in connection to that farm. bob weeks, the owner of the rob bar in mashpee in desperate need of a kidney now has one. maria brought you his story a few weeks ago. the new kidney came from a long-time friend who also worked at the bar. judy died suddenly yesterday and her family thought of donating her kidney to weeks.

think three people in that car may have been involved in a bank robbery. no charges for an admitted child killer in a minnesota cold case. in court yesterday, danny heinrich admitted to abducting, sexually assaulting and shooting 11-year-old jacob wetterling in 1989. he made the admission as part of a plea deal on child pornography charges. he'll likely spend at least 20 years in prison and could be civilly committed after that. jacob's mom said it wasor death. >> i want to say, jacob, i'm so sorry. it's painful to know his last days, last minutes. >> a 1994 federal law named for jacob wetterling requires states to establish sex offender registry. randy: zika funding killed in congress. why lawmakers would not pass that. an iphone announcement from apple today.
