for today looks like this. we'll start off with an isolated shower early this morning. temperature 72 degrees. warming to 80 degrees. mostly cloudy, but there will be plenty of sunshine. if you're right at the shoreline, that easterly breeze will keep things in the 70's. finishing the day, getting closer and closer to a sundown at 7:00. you get away from the shoreline and you warm up to the 80's. out west, hartford could hit 90. another chance of showers and thunderstorms tomorrow. the timeline coming up in a few moments. >> this isn't what we want to hear. the patriots opened their season -- open their season tomorrow without rob gronkowski. >> the team confirming that gronk did not travel with them to arizona. the patriots have ruled the tight end out for tomorrow's game with a hamstring injury. gronk tweaking his hamstring at

didn't play in any of the preseason games. now in his seventh year, he hasn't played a full season since 2011. lineman nate solder and jonathan cooper also not making the trip, and they will not play. police make an arrest after an assault on a red line train. the suspect got on the train last month and started threatening and pushing other riders. the victim tried to take video of the incident when she said he assaulted her. he was arrested yesterday when they caught up with him. >> fire investigators are looking for the cause of a house fire in holliston, tweeting out this fire from the scene. flames were raging through that home on mayflower landing around 1:00 this morning. the new home was under construction. no one was hurt. a woman is recovering right now after getting hit by a car in

milford was crossing pleasant street around 8:00 last night when she was hit. she was flown to a worcester hospital with serious injuries. the driver, a 24-year-old ashland man, is cooperating with the investigation. turn them off and don't recharge them. the warning this morning for owners of the samsung galaxy note 7 smartphone. federal safety experts saying the risk of explosion or fire is just too great. >> this is a newscenter 5's mary saladna explains. >> the consumer product safety commission advising that hundreds of thousands of americans who have bought the samsung galaxy note 7 to power them down and stop charging or using the device. >> introducing the all-new samsung galaxy note 7. >> the warning comes after 35 instances of fires, including a florida man who claims his jeep caught fire while he was charging his phone. >> it was very surprising to me

caught on fire. >> this researcher likens the fires to hoverboard fires. >> super cheap batteries. everyone was trying to get them to market for christmas. it's not that samsung was trying to rush it to market, but they got a bad batch of batteries. >> samsung is offering to replace the phone, prompting government action on top of a faa, now telling passengers to not turn on or charge these devices onboard an aircraft. >> this is a serious thing. you put something that creates fire and noxious fumes on an airplane? that is about as dangerous as it gets. >> faa tests have shown what consumer devices and large shipments of lithium ion batteries can do onboard a plane. the consumer product safety commission is now working with samsung to announce a formal recall, and it will have guidelines for customers telling

phones. we're live in boston tonight. mary saladna, newscenter 5. >> arrests at the state house after protestors refuse to leave. they were protesting at the nuclear power plant in plymouth. they stayed inside the building and wouldn't come out. three were arrested. they are due in court on monday. >> police union request denied. a judge ruling boston police's body camera pilot program can move forward. newscenter 5's david bienick with when it will w >> arriving for a community evenlt at a church in roxboro, the police commissioner said the judge's ruling gives the body camera program the official go-ahead. >> it's lousy that it played out in the court versus the union. i don't like to say it's a victory. we're going to move forward. >> following a two-day hearing, the judge criticized the police union for insisting the camera program be voluntary, then telling its members not to volunteer.

now providence is looking for federal funding to keep the cameras rolling. in boston, david bienick, wcvb newscenter 5. >> so where does boston stand on the body camera issue compared to other big cities across the country? new york and philadelphia both have already started testing cameras in pilot programs. those pilot programs both began in 2014. los angeles is a lot further along. 860 cameras are now in use, but the city council there approved a five-year plan nearly every officer, 7,000 of them. chicago has 2,000 cameras on the streets. the pilot program began last year. has expanded to seven police districts. that city is under fire because officers involved in the chase and shooting death of paul o'neal this summer were wearing body cameras, but they didn't capture the fatal shots. >> worcester police have released the name of the man shot and killed outside of a

west boylston street yesterday morning. a 20-year-old from worcester was also shot but is recovering. >> the headmaster of a prestigious braintree prep school is facing charges after getting caught in a sex sting. stephen bliss is accused of making a deal to have sex with an undercover detective for money. detectives arranged to meet the 46-year-old at a mcdonald's. they say bliss showed up with hundreds of dollars in his pocket. school officials position. he is due back in court next month. a registered sex offender from new hampshire is accused of exposing himself to children in massachusetts. officers arrested 30-year-old jacob mobley-hall near lexington high school. he was exposing himself on the fitness path. police say there have been several reports of this happening this week. the manchester man faces several counts of open and gross

>> a massive recall involving g.m. the automaker is recalling four million vehicles to fix an airbag defect linked to one death. g.m. saying in rare cases, a car's computer can go into test mode and that stops the front airbags from inflating in a crash. we have the full list of vehicles on wcvb.com. >> nissan is also recalling vehicles. 120,000 of them after brake fluid leaked in some cars, triggering a fire. this recall involved some 2015 through 2017 suv's and maximas. if the fluid does look, the antilock brake warning light will stay on for 10 seconds after start-up. if you see that happen, you should get out of your car and call your dearly right away. a volkswagen engineer has pleaded guilty to conspiracy in

we're -- that's the area we'll start moving in here tomorrow. 11:00 tomorrow until 3:00, 4:00 in the afternoon, there's going to be one fine line of showers and thunderstorms that move through. we can use every drop of rain we get. in boston we're running over nine inches dry for the year. almost no rain this summer. worcester, running 8.6 inches below average. a little bit of a cloud deck, a little bit we had some beautiful sunrises this morning. it's 71 degrees. a light easterly breeze. the dew point is actually lower than it was yesterday at this time. yesterday at this time it was in the low 70's. that's what we call the oppressive range. now it's in a sticky category. the other thing, it has been a really dry summer. there's a lot of dirt and debris and pollen blowing around. those of you who suffer from rag weed, you'll be suffering on saturday and sunday. the rain may try to hold back a little bit, but on monday it ramps up.

newscenter 5's erika tarantal has her story. >> she stood by me. she never let me -- she wouldn't let me go, you know. >> 31-year-old megan northup is talking about her mentor, her boss, kathy. together they've been through a lot. >> i have asberger syndrome. i can research it a little more. >> megan started here four years ago. >> it was an internship. 20 hours a week for six months. >> i didn't have very good hope, though. >> yeah. >> enjoying a job. i worked at mcdonald's. and that didn't go very well. >> but kathy saw something special in megan, a timid temperament, but excelled at data entry and research. >> i call her an illumination of her former self because she really has blossomed.

make the cameras a success. the program will now start first thing monday morning. >> well, a woman is recovering right now after getting hit by a car in ashland. police say the 18-year-old from milford was crossing pleasant street at around 8:00 last night when she was hit. she was flown to a worcester hospital with serious injuries. the driver, a 24-year-old ashland man, is cooperating with the investigation. turn them off and don't recharge them. that's the warning this morning for owners of the samsung galaxy note 7 smartphone. that the risk of explosion or fire is just too great. the warning comes after a florida man claims his jeep caught fire while charging his phone. an important warning for drivers about a massive recall involving g.m. the automaker is recalling four million vehicles to fix an airbag defect linked to at least one death. g.m. saying in rare cases, the

from inflating in a crash. we have a full list of vehicles on wcvb.com. >> arrests at the state house after protestors refused to leave. the group was protesting safety issues at the pilgrim nuclear power plant in plymouth. after a meeting with the governor's aides, they stayed inside the building and they wouldn't come out. police arrested three of them and escorted the rest from the building. they are due in court on monday. a teenager arrested in the theft of this 150-pound lober sculpture in plymouth. it was ripped from its base at nelson park on sunday. the lobster had been unveiled as part of a chamber of commerce lobster crawl. today, plymouth police say they have arrested a 15-year-old from plymouth, and they are trying to identify other potential suspects. the lobster itself still has not been recovered. a frightened deer in a pretty tough spot. >> the incident, of course, all caught on camera.
