morning. 73 right now in boston. 72 bedford. 79 atop blue hill. 70's down through the cape and islands as well. i think the thing you're going to complain about this morning if it were anything would be the humidity. check it out. it is uncomfortably oppressive. a lot of oranges and reds on the map here. we've keyed in exactly how it feels out there this morning. but fear not, because by later on this afternoon, this is what's going to be mov pleasant to refreshing air. we've got that humidity to deal with for about the first half of the day today. showers and thunderstorms will signify the transition between these two air masses. there have been plenty of thunderstorms moving through burlington, vermont and flashes of lightning around the midcoast of maine. we'll time these showers out for you. they will be heading in our direction by later on during the midday hours. showers and thunderstorms moving into western massachusetts by

there are few the september 11 attacks have not touched. >> today i'm in a good place. yesterday i was a mess. tomorrow i'll be a mess. >> cindy mcginty's center was one of thousands who never made it home. >> initially, we didn't know if mike was alive or dead, because he was in the building. he wasn't in the airplane. so i thought the more people that saw his face, they might find him. >> that motivated cindy to open the door to a young in my face, cindy mcginty opened the door to me. >> one of many friendships born from michael's passing. >> when i got news, cindy is the first one i called. >> christy lost her husband jeff. both she and cindy have turned grief into motivation to create lasting memories. >> mike was a family guy. on friday night when he came home from work, he was all about

collapsed. 20 to 30 college students were hurt when a deck broke free. police tweeting these photos of the aftermath last night. the accident happened at what police are calling a large off-campus party. fortunately, no one was seriously hurt. >> new information on a deadly boat crash in taunton. the boaters taking places in races on watson pond. three their boats after colliding. that accident happening after one of the boats spun out at 65 miles an hour. a 39-year-old new hampshire man died at the scene, and a 67-year-old man from maine was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. a third man suffered minor injuries. >> i had been in a few accidents over my 23 years. and i knew it didn't look good. last thing, you know, we expected was an accident.

see this happen. >> the taunton fire department's dive team was on the scene for that race and pulled all three drivers out of the water. the crash still under investigation. state police have made an arrest in the deadly crash along i-95 in boxford. nathaniel armstrong from amesbury crashed. a man was pronounced dead. including oui and motor vehicle homicide. >> a new hampshire man is behind bars in connection to a murder in danville. 37-year-old richard moore of danville is charged with second-degree murder. the attorney general says moore repeatedly stabbed 51-year-old jo-anne boucher. she was found dead inside her home last week. neighbors say moore, a registered sex offender, had been living with boucher for months.

neighbors in the area. >> my kids can go outside and not worry. they can walk by that house. >> moore is expected to be in court tomorrow. >> a home invasion is under investigation in worcester this morning. police say six men and two women drove up to a home on clark street and forced their way in and at least one of the men was armed with a tire iron. two teenagers were in that house. they fought off their attackers with a baseball bat. the incident does not appear to be random at least one 18-year-old girl is being charged in connection with that attack. >> there is now a reward for information about a fire that destroyed a home in holliston. that fire broke out on mayflower landing yesterday morning. it was a new home still under construction. holliston fire tweeted out these pictures from that scene. arson watch is now offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information. >> five people hurt in a

yesterday. two passengers were thrown from the van. the cause of the crash still under investigation. >> a prestigious braintree prep school confirming its headmaster has been suspended. stephen bliss was caught in a sex sting. in a statement, the school says the allegations are not in any way connected with the school or its students. bliss is dueac month. >> right now, walpole police are working to find whoever spray painted a message on the high school. police saying it's clear the vandalism is in response to a decision to cancel all dances this year. the walpole high school principal says it's because several students repeatedly showed up drunk to last year's dance. the graffiti also targeted police. anybody with information is asked to contact walpole police.

>> welcome back. fire ripping through a historic covered bridge in vermont. lock at these pictures. investigators say it is suspicious. you can see the flames taking over the entire station covered bridge that connects the town of salisbury and cornwall. the bridge dates back to the 1800's. that bridge was still in use and the road will be closed until further notice. >> the man who shot president reagan is at home with his mother in virginia.

yesterday. he will have to live with his mother for a year, work or volunteer three days a week and continue therapy. >> an intense air strike in syria ahead of a cease-fire set to start tomorrow. opposition activists say dozens of people have been killed in the city of aleppo. also today, syrian state tv reports that the government has accepted the cease-fire agreement reached by the u.s. and russian negotiators. secretary of state john kerry calling the agreement, quote, a turning point. iran is plant with help from russia, the first project since last year's landmark nuclear deal. the project will be monitored by the international atomic energy agency and the u.s. along with russia, britain, france, germany and china reached a deal in which tehran agreed. >> a woman captured in an iconic

this is a line that will be progressing eastward through the course of this morning and not really arriving into western massachusetts until about 9:00, 10:00 this morning. probably closer to 9:00 this morning. so i think we're safe in terms of any downpours, any showers for the most part. widen the view a little more. you see there's this nice line of showers. this is the one i'm watching for the midday hours and toward the early afternoon hours for you folks toward the cape and t look what happens when you get behind the line. it turns bright and sunny and beautiful. and we'll have that by the end of the day today and also back here, lower dew points. check out these blues and aqua colors back here. pleasant to refreshing air is about to move in. until then, we are rather uncomfortable and even oppressive to folks sensitive to that. temperatures in the low to mid 70's. orange at 74 degrees. 75 in springfield.

so this cold front comes through during the -- well, let's call it midday hours. behind it less humid and a much, much more comfortable night for sleeping tonight. you're going to open the windows and let the fresh air in. high pressure builds overhead first thing tomorrow morning. i expect it to be fairly cool at the bus stop. dress the kids appropriately, maybe a light jacket. likely to see a few upper 40's perhaps outside of 495 especially into some of the protected valleys. and tuesday, that high is sticking around. we're still staying with much less humidity. however, for wednesday, another system comes through with some more showers and thundershowers. we'll keep an eye on that one, and behind that, a feel of fall coming our way. storm impacts for today, heavy rain and lightning will be on the medium side. i'm not expecting a whole lot of heavy rain from these except in very isolated spots. and most of those downpours look

island, southeastern massachusetts. lightning obviously. and then the strong winds i think will be a bigger concern especially given the weakened state of many of our trees. in terms of the humidity impacts, they're very high this morning. by this afternoon, they're coming way down. and tonight and tomorrow, thank goodness, refreshing air moving in. let's time the showers out. 9:30 western massachusetts. into the worcester area by 10:00 or so. into the boston area by lunchtime today. but as we head into the afternoon, skies start to clear out. nicer weather. beautiful sunset coming up for tonight. high temperatures today generally in the 70's and 80's. tonight we fall back into the 50's. and tomorrow low 70's with low humidity. also tracking the tropics. we do have a tropical wave we're watching in the central atlantic. we'll keep an eye on that. more on that coming up throughout this morning. in the meantime, we're looking at those midday storms out there. much less humidity for tomorrow

a florida teenager is accused -- who was accused of pretending to be a doctor and stealing money from an elderly patient is apparently at it again. police are charging malachi love-robinson with identity theft now and other fraud offenses after trying to buy a luxury car. the elderly woman didn't know she had been listed as a cosigner on the loan application for that car. love-robinson first made headlines after he was a practicing medicine without a license. >> you may want to look away from your television set right now if you're not ready for winter. the mount washington observatory is already taking reservations for day and overnight trips. >> no thanks. >> visitors get a close look at heavy snow, freezing fog, strong winds all during the wintertime. overnight programs will include topics such as mountain

students are recovering after two decks collapse in connecticut. hartford police say 30 to 40 trinity college students were on a third floor deck of an off-campus party when it fell crashing into the second floor porch and then onto the ground. nobody seriously hurt. >> a deadly boat crash is under investigation in taunton. it happened during a race yesterday on watson pond. one boat crashed into two others. the three drivers landed in the water. a new hampshire man was a day of remembrance and reflection. today marking 15 years since september 11. a live look from the state house right now ahead of a memorial ceremony there later on this morning. it's one of several events happening today in tribute to the victims as well as the survivors of the terror attacks. >> the eye's nicole estaphan live in the garden where people will be gathering for a service. nicole? >> good morning.

7:30 this morning, a time to reflect, honor those that lost their lives. that number, by the way, includes 200 people with local connections. cindy mcginty lost her husband, michael. he was at the world trade center on business, again, 15 years ago. that may seem like a long time, but for many who lost loved ones, every year that passes brings up tough memories and aty kind of healing. mcginty has found motivation through a yearly family fun day in her late husband's honor held the money will fund two $2500 scholarships for local teens involved in community service. that's just one way that so many families have had to find a way to heal throughout the years. many of those families will be attending multiple ceremonies throughout the city today. we're live in boston. nicole estaphan, wcvb, newscenter 5. >> nicole, thank you. and commitment 2016 this morning. hillary clinton and rival donald trump are taking a break from the campaign trail today.

the vote. donald trump's campaign also opened a massachusetts campaign office. as newscenter 5's david bienick reports, a traditionally democratic state like massachusetts, trump supporters are not discouraged about his chances. >> the party spilled out of the office and into the parking lot as hundreds of donald trump supporters celebrated the opening of his massachusetts campaign headquarters. >> i like it. >> that w to the polls and get them there. >> trump's massachusetts campaign chair told the crowd the candidate is still focused on a 50-state strategy even though the latest polls showed trump trailing hillary clinton here by more than 20 points, and the last republican presidential candidate to win this state was ronald reagan in 1984. >> anything's possible when you have the go-to attitude the man represents.

northern parts of vermont around lake champlain and we also have a line of showers, heavier showers, back through the great lakes. we look off to the west, and dry air moving through the great lakes right now. we get all of this today, all right? so we've got the -- generally this morning, talking about a muggy kind of mostly cloudy day. midday showers and storms. and then by this afternoon, the dew point is really going to come down. look at this. right now it's very oppressive, and it's much more pleasant. and we'll experience that in time for dinner tonight. all right. 70's out there right now. 73 boston. plymouth and hyannis. got a cold front just about to come through. it will come through around midday with some thunderstorms. and i'll talk about exactly which areas may see more of a feisty version of those thunderstorms coming up. regardless, it turns less humid by later on this afternoon and this evening. tonight, open up the windows.

i suspect tomorrow morning is actually kind of a chilly start at the bus stops with high pressure right over the time of us and a mostly clear skies. 40's in some areas. tuesday, a cool start to the morning. lots of sunshine in store. this next cold front doesn't move in until wednesday with another round of thunderstorms. behind that more changes. let's time out these showers and thunderstorms. they come central massachusetts late this morning. then the south shore, south coastal communities, just after that. then after about 4:00, skies clear out nicely. now, in terms of your storm chances, i suspect from worcester into boston down through the cape and the islands south coast between 10:00 this morning and 2:00 this afternoon, some of these storms may provide some gusty winds, lightning, and localized downpours as well. that's not to say you will not get this activity into the

however, i think the strongest storms will be concentrated in this area. not expecting widespread severe weather, but some heavy rain could accompany any of these storms, some lightning, and maybe some pockets of strong winds. high temperatures today 70's and 80's out there. it will turn noticeably drier this afternoon. a comfortable night for tonight as we dip back into the 50's and highs only in the low 70's for tomorrow with lots of sunshine. check out your beach and boating temperatures. let's call it a moderate uv index for today. midday thunderstorms. watch out for those. keep your eye to the sky. watch the rip currents as well. there may be pockets you need to keep an eye on. it's midday storms for today. then lower humidity coming in in time for supper tonight. all day tomorrow and tuesday. more showers and storms on wednesday. and then a fall feel with highs
