hard to believe it's been 15 years. >> it really is. >> lots of september 11 ceremonies happening this morning. let's check in with a.j. to see if there's any showers in the forecast. >> actually, we should stay dry for most of this morning. heading on toward later this morning, though, that becomes a question mark. we'll time out those showers that i have in the forecast momentarily. 75 right now in fitchburg. boston at 74. dew points are also quite high as well, so it feels very, very humi through the vineyard where it's 72 presently. we look at these colors here, which are indicative of uncomfortable to oppressive air across the board for us today, so it's an uncomfortable start to this sunday morning. however, watch what happens with that dew point heading through midday. it comes down big time as we head into the afternoon, evening, and overnight. turns very, very comfortable. but the transition may be a little bumpy between now and

and actually some of the storms have been quite strong moving up through burlington, vermont, northeastern sections of new york state with a lot of lightning as well. these storms heading off to our north, but this line back here may have its sights set on southern new england specifically for potentially stronger storms. we'll time them out in my forecast in a few minutes. >> a.j., thank you. it's a day of remembrance and reflection. today marking 15 years since september 11 as we take a live look from the morning where one ceremony will happen. it's one of several events happening today in tribute to the victims as well as the survivors of the terror attacks. >> the eyeopener's nicole estaphan live in the public garden where people will be gathering for a service. good morning, nicole. >> antoinette, doug, as you can see behind me now, dozens of volunteers laying flags. there will be a wreath-laying ceremony here at 7:30 this morning. 15 years may seem like a long

who lost loved ones, every day is laced with healing and some people are finding that through giving back to the community. >> took it one day at a time and every day we got stronger. >> 15 years have passed. there are few the september 11 attacks have not touched. >> today i'm in a good place. yesterday i was a mess, and tomorrow i'll be a mess. >> cindy mcginty's husband was at the trade center on business, one of thousands who n mike was alive or dead. because he was in the building, he wasn't in the airplane, so i thought the more people that saw his face out there, they might find him. >> that motivated cindy to open the door to a young reporter. >> instead of slamming the door in my face, cindy mcginty opened the door to me. >> one of many friendships born from michael's passing. >> when i got news about the names, cindy was who i called.

remembrance blood drive over at fenway park. >> right now dozens of college students are recovering after two decks collapsed. police in hartford, connecticut, say between 30 and 40 trinity college students got hurt when a deck broke free and hit the ground. police tweeting out these photos of the aftermath last night. the accident happened at what police are calling a large off-campus party. fortunately, no one was ou boat crash in taunton. the boaters taking part in a race on watson pond this weekend. rescuers saying the three drivers were thrown from their boats after colliding. that accident happening after one of the boats spun out at 65 miles an hour. a new hampshire man died at the scene. a man from maine was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, a third man suffering minor injuries. >> i had been in a few accidents

last thing, you know, we expect is an accident. we're here to have fun and enjoy the sport and we just don't like to see this happen. >> the taunton fire department's dive team was on that scene for the race and pulled all three drivers out of the water. the crash still under investigation. state police have made an arrest in a deadly crash along i-95 in boxford. police saying the 22-year-old nathaniel armstrong of amiesbury was headed north when he crashed the victim was pronounced dead. he's facing charges of oui and motor vehicle homicide. >> a new hampshire man is behind bars in connection to a murder in danville. 37-year-old richard moore of danville is charged with second-degree murder. the attorney general says moore repeatedly stabbed 51-year-old jo-anne boucher. she was found dead inside her home last week. neighbors say moore, a

been living with boucher for months. the news of his arrest is a relief to neighbors in this area. >> my kids can go outside and not have to worry. that means they can walk by that house. i never let them walk by there. >> moore is expected in court tomorrow. >> a home invasion is under investigation in worcester. six men and two women drove up to a home in clark street and forced their way in. one man was armed with a tire iron. two teens fought off their ater police say the incident does not appear to be random. the victims knew the suspects. and at least one 18-year-old girl is being charged in connection with that attack. >> there is now a reward for information about a fire that destroyed a home in holliston. that fire broke out on mayflower landing yesterday morning. it was a new home that was still under construction. holliston fire tweeted out these pictures from that scene. arson watch now offering up to

information. >> right now, walpole police are working to find out whoever spray painted a message on a high school there. you can see that message. police say it's clear vandalism is in response to a decision by the school principal to cancel all dances this year. the walpole high school principal says it's because several students repeatedly showed up drunk to dances last year. the graffiti also targeting police. anybody with information is asked to contact walpole police. 6:08 here on a sunday morning. signs of hope down in miami. >> why a travel to the zika virus could soon be over. the update from the cdc as widespread spraying continues. also this morning -- an historic new england bridge goes up in flames. what investigators are now saying about the cause of the fire. >> the mlb postseason is around the corner. the red sox hoping to extend their a.l. east lead. we'll tell you whether they got it done against the blue jays, speaking of a.j.'s. >> okay. scattered showers moving through

>> welcome back. fire ripping through a historic covered bridge in vermont. investigators say it is suspicious. the flames take over the entire bridge. that connects the towns of salisbury and cornwall. the bridge dates back to the 1800's. that bridge was still in use. as you can see, the road's going to be closed until further notice. >> the man who shot president reagan is now at his mother's home in virginia. john hinckley jr. was released washington, d.c. yesterday. he will have to live with his mother for a year. work or volunteer three days a week and continue therapy. >> well, intense airstrikes in syria ahead of a nation wide cease-fire set to start tomorrow. activists say dozens have been killed in the city of aleppo. also today, syrian state-reporting the government has accepted the cease-fire agreement reached between the u.s. and russian negotiators. secretary of state john kerry calling the agreement, quote, a turning point.

the ground. >> getting repetitious, saying we need the rain. we still need the rain. and it still isn't coming. we'll get some downpours today in some areas, but, again, you know, it's going to make more than this at this point to really kind of get rid of it. we need a good soaking. some of you will get a localized soaker or two coming through this afternoon. let's check radar right now. most of the activity, all of the activity, in fact, is off to our west. we have a showers in the past six hours moving into kingston within the next hour. i'd say this activity would be into the berkshires by about 8:00 or 9:00 this morning. let's call it about 8:00. so plan on getting wet into the connecticut valley by 9:00 and heading into worcester 9:30, 10:00 or so and then 10:30 to midday toward the boston area down through the south shore, cape and islands. probably just after lunchtime today. lots of lightning lighting up

vermont, and working down through the green mountains now where this line of storms is coming through. but it's this line back here which kind of joins forces and heads up over southern sections of new england, specifically, rhode island, and down through carver, plymouth, over toward rehobeth. there's a wider look. this by the way, the transition between our muggy air and some much drier air towards the great lakes slowing heading this way. it's very uncomfortable this morning outside. that will change by suppertime tonight. 70 to 75 degrees on average for temperatures right now. here's the cold front about to come through. it will come through in some cases with a bit of a bang, with some thunderstorms out there for some of you. again, we'll kind of fine-tune that momentarily. but behind it, the theme will be less humidity as high pressure starts moving in and heading into new england for the next

so get a couple of cool mornings starting tomorrow morning and tuesday morning as well. next cold front won't arrive until wednesday with another round of some thundershowers and then after that, you can bust out your pumpkin spice latte, because it's going to be turning much, much more fall-like outside. here's a look, an idea, at some of these thunderstorms. we're looking at 10:00 this morning. i think, a, this might be a little early. yeah, you know maybe a half hour early or so. but plan on bumpy into the worcester area and down through connecticut and eventually into rhode island as we head in through the midday hours. some of these storms over southernmost new england may get a little noisy out there. lightning, downpours, and maybe some gusty winds as well. by 3:00, 4:00, we're clearing out, and here comes the dry weather in time for sunset tonight. all right. so that's the way things are looking there. we'll skip over that.

this morning on this september 11. so is it going to be a washout? >> no. just very, very humid, but most of the showers are leaving us alone this morning, which is good news. western mass becomes an issue probably about 8:00 or so. but into worcester, boston, probably not going to be until later on this morning toward midday as well. we have some time out there for the ceremonies out there. as a matter of fact, let's talk about the humidity first off, because i think that's what you're feeling the most this morning. there right now. but as we get some showers and thunderstorms to work through here around midday, the humidity will drop very quickly. you'll notice it by around suppertime tonight. we had some showers last night. you're waking up finding drops on the old windshield, on any of the garden stuff you left out yesterday. look, we've actually had one little thunderstorm pop up here, i mean, just within the past 15 minutes or so, working toward springfield.

in random fashion. it's a line to the west that will start moving in the next couple of hours from now and eventually into the worcester area by 9:30, 10:00 and then into boston heading on toward late morning toward midday. there's the wider picture. we've had lots of thunderstorms basically up and down the nutmeg state this morning. we've had plenty of lightning around lake champlain as well. wider look. there's that band of showers and then behind it nothing toward the great lakes. that is our drier air in time for the tail end of the day today. 70 to 75 outside right now. again, very, very muggy, uncomfortably so. cold front about to come through and bring that humidity to an end. much less humid by day's end today, and lots of sunshine. so i think as kind of soupy as it is and as ugly as it may get in some areas toward midday today, midmorning, late day, it

coolish at the bus stop for the kiddos. we could have 40's in some of the protected valleys. lots of 50's as well. wider picture for tuesday, another area of high pressure for us. really no weather to speak of except for lots of sun, but then our next cold front comes at us for wednesday with another round of some scattered showers and storms. this gives you an idea. around 8:00 this morning, some noisy showers and thundershowers out through western massachusetts moving toward the worcester area by 10 or so. and then these showers and storms move right along boston's north shore and right down the i-95 corridor heading toward late morning and midday. folks on the cape and islands, you may not be out of the woods either. it's early afternoon when your thunderstorms may be coming through. i suspect after we get the clearing through here that there may be some pockets where we've received some wind damage. i think the best potential in green would be from worcester on
