>> good morning. thank you for joining us. tuesday, september the 13th. i'm randy price. >> i'm emily riemer. stories we're following on the eyeopener right now -- a mother murdered in methuen. her young son in the home. the search for the man police say may be involved. >> new details on a mosque vandalized the message of forgiveness from that community this morning. >> hillary clinton is opening up about this health scare. what she has to say about that stumble and her request for donald trump. >> good morning, cindy. nice and cool out there this morning. >> yeah, again this morning. temperatures running on the cool side. not so much in the city right now where it's still just above 60 degrees, but the air is dry. a lot of 50's showing up on the north shore. just 50 in nashua. a few upper 40's back through

a lot of 50's this morning down in the cape. a couple of patches of fog. that's the extent of it right now. otherwise, skies above are clear as high pressure is sitting right on top of us. but i want you to notice to the west, there are some showers and thunderstorms, and this whole line is working toward us. and tomorrow there could be some severe thunderstorms late in the day. we'll talk about that coming up. today, it's going to be another beautiful day. all about the sunshine. sun coming up. 6:22 this morn lower 70's by 10:00. we should top out in the lower 80's. it's a warmer afternoon on the way. we'll step you through the storm track tomorrow. out to the roads we go. >> live look outside at the pike. this is a eastbound heading to the top of the screen. traffic nice and light here in both directions. let's go to the maps. so far, no problems.

93 is quiet. south of town, you're fine on route 3, 24, 95, no issues on the pike. another construction zone on 128. we're expecting trains and buses to start the morning on schedule. >> thank you. a manhunt is under way after a methuen woman was found murdered in her home. police say the little boy was just feet >> doug meehan is tracking the overnight developments. >> good morning. obviously, the family in this case is just heartbroken over this. while the police here are searching for her ex-boyfriend. now, wanda rosa's body was discovered yesterday inside her tudor street home. police are looking for emilio delarosa, the father of their 4-year-old son. friends say rosa wanted her ex to know her son.

prison serving time for kidnapping rosa, putting her in a trunk of a car and driving her to new jersey. now, after the kidnapping, wanda rosa had taken out an abuse prevention order. talking to us on the phone, her uncle says the family is devastated. >> she was a wonderful girl, a beautiful smile, and a loving girl she was. >> police say after the attack. emilio delarosa took the boy to a family member's home and that relative called police. delarosa is from lawrence and still on the run. live in methuen, doug meehan, wcvb newscenter 5. >> breaking details in a crash in fall river. a man was hit by a car on route 24 north. that crash happened around 9:45 last night. police tell us the victim's car was in the breakdown lane, but it's unclear where he was when he was hit. that man was airlifted to rhode island hospital with serious injuries. the other driver involved did

>> right now, braintree police are asking for help in finding this missing woman who has alzheimer's disease. they say that a taxi driver picked up patricia devine at her house and dropped her off at logan airport yesterday afternoon. devine was planning to head to florida. it is unclear if she got on a plane at logan. anyone with information should call braintree police. >> new this morning, sweeping changes to how massachusetts handles the mentally ill. the outside the state house. >> emily, the governor is set to make that announcement today, and the administration is calling this a new level of care when it comes to mentally ill inmates. "the globe" is reporting that among the changes, there will be additional mental health services, also limits on the contacts that corrections officers have with mentally ill inmates at bridgewater state hospital. the new plan also includes that

their first 10 days at the facility. the governor also wants to move mentally ill inmates convicted of state crimes from bridgewater state to a separate facility. while those who are charged yet not convicted of minor crimes would stay put. advocates are praising the effort but continue to push for bridgewater state to be under the control of the department of mental health versus the department of corrections. live this morning at the state house, sera congi, wcvb newscenter 5. >> all right, sa. commitment 2016 this morning. donald trump campaigning through the battleground states today. and president obama will be hitting the trail for hillary clinton in philadelphia after she was forced to take time off because of sickness. erika has new developments. >> hillary clinton says she will release more details about her health later this week and she is urging her rival to do the same. that's as she explained why she kept her pneumonia quiet.

always an indication that these storms may have some stronger winds with them. notice the broken line in iowa, kansas. so it's all in association with a frontal boundary which is moving in our direction. but out ahead of it, we've got one more really nice day to enjoy. high pressure stays sitting right on top of us. we've got the dry, comfortable air overhead this morning, which is why it's a little cool out there. out to the west ahead of that front, see that little pool of higher humidity? that's what's going to a it's comfortable today. humidity spikes a little bit tomorrow. once that front goes by, it is right back down again. so it's briefly turning a little bit more humid tomorrow. temperatures this morning very comfortable. lots of 50's on the map. 63 in boston right now. 56 in worcester. a few pockets of 40's. not nearly as widespread as yesterday morning, but notice norwood down to 45. it's 47 in orange.

today again, wall-to-wall sunshine. blue sky. maybe one or two clouds. winds are going to be popping out of the southwest today. and that is going to keep the temperatures a little bit higher than they were yesterday along the coast. without a sea breeze, boston should sneak up to 82. the cooler spots today will be the south coast, the cape and the islands, as the wind comes off the water and holds you in the 70's. clear, pleasant tonight if you're headed to fenway for game two with the oes the temperatures slowly fall. it's not going to be as cool tonight. it's mostly in the 60's when you're waking up tomorrow. another day coming up in the 80's tomorrow with skies mainly sunny and clear to start and we'll increase the clouds in the afternoon. look at these highs tomorrow, making a run toward 86 degrees in boston. here comes this frontal boundary. as it does so, we'll watch showers and thunderstorms moving on in. we've made tomorrow an impact weather day. morning hours are dry.

but by about 3:00 in the afternoon, here come those storms getting closer to the worcester area by 5:00 and pressing toward the coastline 7:00, 8:00 in the evening. they'll be winding down overnight. once that front goes through, cooler air settling in. thursday, temperatures only getting to 70 in the afternoon. then another cool, crisp day on friday. saturday right now, the pick day of the weekend. there could be some showers on sunday. so heads-up tomorr >> so far, a quiet start on the roads. eastbound heading toward the bottom of the screen. no problems right now in both directions. so far, quiet start. we've got some overnight construction clearing on the expressway as you travel northbound by the o'neill tunnel. south, no problems. route 3, good shape. 24 as well. 95 is quiet. more road work on 128 by highland avenue.

>> good morning. it's 4:54. following breaking news in your early news to go. >> we are learning new details about a crash on route 24 in fall river. state police say a man was hit by a car on the northbound side about 9:45 last night. police tell us the victim's car was in the breakdown lane, but it's unclear where he was at the time. the man was airlifted to rhode island hospital with serious injuries. the car involved did stay at the scene. >> a lawrence man pleads not

his girlfriend. police say the victim ran screaming and naked in june away from keyvin gil, who she said she lived with at the time. he's been held without bail since his arrest. gil is facing life in prison if he's convicted of this. trial of a virginia man accused of murdering a fellow coast guard officer in bourne has been pushed back to january now. adrian loya has been held at his february 2015 arrest. he had an elaborate plan to murder petty officer lisa trubnikova and her wife. the trial was originally set for may but put on hold during an appeal. >> the f.b.i. is investigating a possible hate crime at a mosque in california previously attended by the orlando

the arsonist. shortly after the man approaches the building, he runs away and then there's a flash from the fire. >> two teens in maine are under arrest after a chase involving a front-end loader. police say they stole the front-end loader and made it nearly 20 miles before they were stopped on the maine turnpike. it was caught on surveillance where a sign was knocked down. police say the teens were intentionally >> an engine fan blade that broke off a southwest plane caused an emergency landing in florida. passengers took this picture of the engine during the incident last month. the ntsb says the fan blade showed signs of metal fatigue. the plane did land safely. nobody was hurt. in a statement, southwest called it a unique and extremely rare event. >> a milwaukee teenager is on the run after jumping out of a police van while handcuffed. that 17-year-old escaped over

here was behind the van when the doors swung open. the teen was under arrest for allegedly stealing a car. police say he has a long record and history of running off. >> a college football player in california learns his punishment for allegedly punching a referee. this kent caught on camera -- incident caught on camera. bernard schirmer of mount saint antonio is suspended for five years. the college says the punch was an accident and they do plan to appeal the punishment. schirmer does also david ortiz solidifies his place in major league history. he knocked down his 536th home run tieing mickey mantle. they had five runs in the first inning alone. 12-2 the final. they're two games ahead of the blue jays in the a.l. east. >> and a flat tire on a limo

from getting to her wedding. angelique arsenault was on her way to her venue in milford, new hampshire, when the limo got stuck. she and the bridal party took matters into their own hands. yes, we get it. they hitchhike to the wedding. they ended up being about a half hour late, but they got there. >> not too bad. they got there. quite a story. >> and the wedding doesn't start until the bride gets there. >> exactly. >> so there you go. well, yesterday we had our hurricane season in the atlantic form. we are up to the name ian. ian is not a particularly strong tropical storm. winds are only 45 miles per hour. look where it is. here's bermuda. here's the east coast. the thing is way out in the atlantic. it's moving toward the northwest. it looks like it's going to continue to stay away from any land areas going well east of bermuda here later this week and then heading up through the north atlantic. so it doesn't look like ian is going to bother anyone. it is out there.

tropics. the season runs through the end of november. we have comfortable dry air in place. high pressure right over head. it's going to be another beautiful day. very similar to yesterday. cool start. but a little bit warmer in the afternoon. off to the west, we're watching a front that's producing showers and thunderstorms. and these are going to try to get in here tomorrow. potential late in the day tomorrow we get stronger storms. it would great if it brought rain. we're well behind by almost an inch for the month and over nine inches for the year. we desperately do need some rainfall. lower 80's across a g otherwise, we're tracking that front tomorrow and behind it another surge of some cool dry air moving on in. tomorrow, indicating the potential of stronger winds with these storms. tomorrow is an impact weather today. behind that front, feeling like fall to end the week thursday into friday. getting to the weekend saturday looks like the pick day. we could have some showers catching up to us by sunday. today looks beautiful.
