you want to sit away from the wheel. >> i think -- sit too late to go back to law cool because once that happen -- >> a whole new profession. anyway, let's get back to what's happening locally. right now the most significant downpours and thunderstorms are across southeastern massachusetts, southernmost rhode island. i think you can see right here, plymouth, headed down toward cape cod. healthy downpour and thunderstorm and we see another one developing right back here as well. see right in there. you see the ac i this vicinity. so it's not over in terms of the threat of a fairly decent thunderstorm but right now the chances are cape cod is the one that will experience it, in the next one to two hours. then it will be off the coast completely. there you see it depicted at 8:00. notice the clear skies from the north. it's not only clear, it's going to be cooler and less humid. at 90 degrees today in boston, for the 22nd time this year, the average is 14.
6:18 pm
>> pretty hefty downpour but very brief just before 4:00. it's starting to shift around, from the south. soon it will be northwest and eventually north. and the humidity will start to drop and you can see the wind direction, all northwest. a good healthy 15 to 16 mile per hour. but when you get down toward cape cod and plymouth it's still from the southwest. the front is right in this area and that's why we still have the chance of storms for the next hour or two for that part of our area. ti and it also turns drier and comfortable to the north and west. a big chunk of comfortable air is going to be overspreading the region, by later on tonight, when you go to sleep just open the windows, threat fresh air in and it will be really fall like but nice by tomorrow morning. so our humidity impact, goes way down for both thursday and friday. begins to inch up saturday and more so on sunday.
6:19 pm
from new york down to washington, records were broken. but notice cool air around the great lakes. that's what starts to move in. even by tomorrow morning, we're in the 40s and 50s with a cool, fresh northerly wind. look at high temperatures. compared to the 90 in boston a lot cooler indeed. as we check it out, notice we're still clear for the most part through friday. even into saturday, which looks like the better of the two weekend days to me. by the way, this is mile per hour wind in terms of its max wind, the fact that it will continue to dump rain as it almost spins in place as a weak tropical storm but with lots of moisture and heavy rain potential. the other storm in the tropics, that's ian and that continues to track way out to sea. so that's not really a big concern for us, and there is a new tropical depression off the coast of africa. so it, too, will start to move across the atlantic but not too much development over the next
