in rehobeth yesterday. he claimed to have a gun under his shirt, which turned out to be a gaming console. he threatened to "blow this place up." at one point, police say he tried to light a gas nozzle. he took off on foot. he was tackled to the ground and subdued by a police dog. he faces charges including attempted arson of a gas . as he was wheeled out, he gave a wave to loved ones in the courtroom. one of his family held a sign outside the court saying "we haert you." in totten, sera congi, wcvb newscenter 5.

>> you are watching newscenter 5 at 5:30. ben: a fiery crash in houston, te forced the closure of a four-lane highway for hours. according to police, a wrong-way driver slammed his pickup truck into an oncoming vehicle. the driver going the right way is the one that was killed. police are currently investigating if alcohol played a factor in the crash. heather: now to the latest on that massive samsung recall. the fallout over the exploding batteries in their newest mobile devices continues. the federal government, now stepping in, issuing its own official recall of the product. abc's ray raimundi with the latest developments.

heather: the navy's blue angels stunt team is shelving a stunt 32-year-old marine captain jeffrey kuss was killed in june when he crashed his fa-18 hornet. navy investigators blame pilot error. partial cloud cover and possible pilot fatigue were listed as contributing factors to the crash. the crash is also prompting other changes including more rest for pilots and a review of all aerial maneuvers. the associated press and two other news organizations are suing the fbi over the hacking of a terror suspect's iphone. the plaintiffs want to know whom the fbi paid, and how much it paid, to unlock san bernardino

apple to get access to the phone, but dropped the lawsuit after getting a third party to unlock the phone. a lawsuit has been filed under the freedom of information act. ben: the international olympic committee is now getting involved in the hacking scandal involving several athletes. president thomas bach says he will ask russian authorities to help stop hackers from releasing more confidential medical files. olympic gymnastics champion simon biles, tennis star venus winner chris froome are among 29 athletes who had information compromised. usa gymnastics has a new national team coordinator. valeri liukin will succeed martha karolyi as the leader of the unstoppable women's program. liukin is a four-time olympic medalist and father of 2008 olympic champion nastia liukin. he has worked at the team's elite development coordinator for a few years. karolyi retired last month after guiding team usa to nine medals at the rio olympics.

the aid of a elderly man in england today. the duke and duchess were at a school to discuss mental health issues with students. one of the local officials who was there to greet the royal couple tripped over a divider and fell onto his back. prince william and several others rushed to help the older man to his feet. once upright, the man assured the prince he was quite alright. a heavy rainstorm causing a major travel disruption just outside london this morning. look at that. ben: heather: the rain led to severe flooding and caused a passenger train to derail. two people were hurt. other trains were delayed after lightning hit a signal box. the storm brough an end to a spell of hot weather across -- the storm brought an end to a spell of hot weather across southern england. ben: was it really hot? they act like it is hot if it is like 75 degrees. i'm just saying. they do, don't they? mike: you're absolutely right. crews to arrive. >> we knew we would be in trouble. with the tide following so quickly, it dropped 11 feet. juli: because of the number and size of these atlantic white sided dolphins, they called and bystanders to help with the heavy lifting. >> they can range from 200 pounds to 500 pounds for the bigger animals. the longest golf and i saw last night was about 90 feet long. jul i: the dolphins were loaded one by one on trailers. the team reeve to a sigh of relief as all 16 swim away. >> we are a global hotspot. some years we have as many as 33. it allows us to get good at certain things. this is one of the things we have gotten good at.

the preventative measures involve 15 to 20 different offense here in wellfleet. juli mcdonald, wcvb newscenter 5 . ed: right now, police in easton are searching for a suspect after a woman is attacked while out walking her dog. it happened just after 6:00 yesterday morning in the area of 41 foundry street. the victim says she was kicked from behind and briefly lost consciousness. it's unclear if she was sexually assaulted. heather: mask try to rip up her close. now the bridgewater student is taking it back. reporter: the student is recanting her story, but not before a lot of concern on campus. >> it is a huge relief. reporter: a crime alert lifted.
