mayor bill de blasio. we'll have more information as soon as we get in on the incident that occurred about 2 1/2 hours ago. in new jersey, a number of state and federal agencies there investigating after a pipe bomb exploded on the jersey shore this morning. the explosive found in a trash can in seaside park along the route of a marine corps charity run. the explosion happened just before thousands of runners were expected to take off. fortunately, the race was delayed and the runners were went off. officials say they don't know who left it or why. >> what the intentions of the individual we don't know at this point, whether criminal or terroristic. it's obvious it was meant to affect the run. reid: race canceled, some homes near the scene evacuated as a precaution. those residents have been allowed to return to their homes. a diving accident off the coast

one rushed to the hospital in critical condition. reporter: the 9-1-1 call came from a good samaritan around 4:30 this afternoon after seeing two boaters in depress -- depress -- distress off of east point. one of the divers was unconscious from the water, described as in critical condition. the second diver in distress was also pulled on board. ambulances were standing by to rush them to the hospital. police have not released any information, the names nor the conditions of the two divers tonight. they're still piecing together what happened in the water today. police said further updates

42 passengers were injured and four killed. the status of the driver and ages of the players are unknown at this time. in philadelphia, police identified a man who went on a deadly shooting spree. 25-year-old nicholas glenn was well known to police and was allegedly, quote, hell bent on hurting a lot of people. one woman was killed and five hurt including two officers during last night's rampage. police say the motive was not clear but they found a note in which he express for police. boston police investigating a deadly triple shooting in dorchester. police say the men, all in their 20's, shot just after 2:00 a.m. in the areas of nightingale and wales streets. so far, no arrests have been made. worcester police asking for help finding the driver of this black pickup truck following a strange pedestrian accident that left a

we have heard recently from city officials. diane: officials say there are at least 29 people who were injured, according to the fire department, one considered serious. no one appears to have life-threatening injuries at this time. we have video from someone about a block from the scene when this happened, to give you an idea, a large police and fire presence at the scene. the explosion took place near west 23rd street and 6th avenue in the chelsea area of manhattan around 8:30 law enforcement sources tell abc news the explosion is believed to have come from a dumpster. new york city mayor bill de blasio held a news conference and here's what he had to say. mayor de blasio: there is no evidence at this point of a terror connection to this incident. this is preliminary information. it's something we will be investigating very carefully but there is no evidence at this point of a terror connection. i also want to affirm that based

hurricane but a long way from the coast and we're talking about thursday of next week. julia is interesting, just sitting down here. it's a tropical depression barely, in name more than anything else. but it's driving tropical moisture in and that moisture is working its way along the east coast. that's why we have the opportunity for seeing more rain. the system will stay away from us but the moisture is out there, tropical moisture is in play. tomorrow, a few showers. tomorrow night into monday, a chance of seeing showers tuesday, a spot shower or two and on wednesday, the humidity goes way down. we start the week with high humidity but by the end of the week, humidity is comfortable and the first day of fall is thursday. plenty of sunshine for it, low humidity, looks beautiful. perhaps a spot shower on friday. your best opportunity will be sunday night into monday morning. monday morning commute may be
