we have rain moving in, mike wankum. mike: that's the good news. there's a lot of broken clouds. we may get a hint of sunshine. as you look off to the west, there are bands of showers, more will be happening tomorrow morning. we have an opportunity as a cold front approaches and we have muggy air over the top of us. hit or miss showers, not a lot of it, though. here's the way the map looks at 8:00 a.m. cloud cover filling in across the area and a spot shower is a possibility. as we head through the but a lot of gray skies and a muggy day as well. by 4:00, we're starting to see pop-up showers. we have to wait until later tonight. that's when we start to see more activity going on. tomorrow morning's commute could be on the wet side because of all the showers out there and perhaps a rumble of thunder. in boston, we'll ramp up to 82 degrees as the sunshine fades away. and the threat of rain moves into the forecast. we'll talk about how that will affect the gillette stadium game in a few moments. antoinette? antoinette: thank you.

out of new york city. the city is on high alert after an explosion in the chelsea area of manhattan, sending more than two dozen people to the hospital. a second device also found just blocks away. officials saying that device is a pressure cooker with wires. todd: we're also learning that police are looking into a third possible device. there are at least 29 people injured. the fire department says no one appears to have life-threatening injuries at this time. right now, you're looking about a block away from the scene where the explosion happened. the explosion took place near west 23rd at 6th avenue. a law enforcement official says the explosion appears to have come from a construction toolbox in front of the building. witnesses say the explosion blew out the windows of the surrounding businesses. investigators have found a second device blocks from the original blast. we're told that that device is a pressure cooker attached to

confirmed if the pressure cooker is an explosive device. the device was removed and brought to a police firing range. mayor de blasio spoke shortly after the explosion, saying the explosion was intentional, though not necessarily an act of terrorism. >> i want to say more broadly there is no specific and credible threat against new york city at this point in time from any terror organization. but we do want to be very clear. the early indications, this was an intentional act. whatever the cause, whatever the intention here, new yorkers will not be intimidated. we're not going to let anyone change who we are or how we go about our lives. todd: we're also hearing from some of the people injured last night. they are saying that they beg began -- everything began with shag. -- shaking. >> i flew off me feet reporter: you landed on your

todd: police are asking people to stay away from the area around the explosion. federal and local officials are on the scene right now. there are no leads on who's behind the attack or what may have motivated this attack. antoinette: and you mentioned that device found at that second scene showing similarities to the one used during the boston marathon bombing. todd: the device found appears to be a pressure cooker. the pressure cookers that ex-sploelded here in 2013 packed with shrapnel. dzhokhar tsarnaev was sentenced to death. the pressure cooker bombs were detonated by a transmitter made from a remote control. there was a battery underneath. that battery was connected with a piece of black electrical tape. antoinette: the mayor of new york saying the explosion in manhattan has no connection to an explosion in new jersey saturday morning. a pipe bomb exploded in a trash can in seaside park right along the route of a marine corps charity run.

before thousands of runners were expected to take off. luckily, the race was delayed and the runners were not nearby when the device went off. officials say they don't know who left it there or why they left it there. that race was canceled. both hillary clinton and donald trump reacting to the explosion in new york. trump declaring that a bomb went off before officials had released details. he went on to say, "we are going to get tough and sm a vigilant." clinton was briefed on the incident following a speech in washington, d.c. she says we need to do everything we can to support our first responders. also to pray for the victims. and we will continue to follow the breaking details on this explosion in manhattan as well as the latest on that second device, a pressure cooker found just blocks away. we have the latest on air, online, and with our mobile news app. todd: the candidates were out on the campaign trail saturday. clinton was honored by the congressional black caucus.

[cheers and applause] who can't fight a fair fight. who never will be president of the united states. antoinette: warren also spoke about the republican party's support for trump, saying he has more support from the aryan nation and the kkk than he does from leaders of his own party. injured after being pulled from the waters off the coast of nahant. one of those divers is in critical condition. they were located near the northeastern marine biology center. cpr was performed on one of the divers before transporting him to salem hospital. authorities are investigating what happened. the identities of the divers have not yet been released. we're learning new information about the teenager killed by a commuter train.

newton. a westbound commuter train hit the teen just before 9:00 friday night near the west newton station. police and the v.a.'s office are surrounding the circumstances, but foul play is not expected. "the globe" reports the boy was at a student at newton. newton high schools will have counselors available tomorrow. antoinette: police in worcester are asking for the public's help. police are searching truck a. 31-year-old woman suffered multiple injuries in this strange crash. police believe the worcester resident was talking to the driver in the parking lot of the b.p. gas station on chandler street back 30 saturday morning. at some point, the driver sped off with the woman clinging on the driver's side window. that woman fell from the truck into the middle of the road. she is now listed in stable condition.

todd: 5:13. we are following breaking news out of new york this morning. an explosion last night rocked manhattan's chelsea neighborhood. antoinette: more than two dozen people injured in this explosion. the mayor saying that the explosion was deliberate. but there's no indication that this is connected to terrorism. this explosion happened just after 8:30 last night in the chelsea neighborhood of manhattan. we know 29 people were injured. a law enforcement official says this that was in front of a building. police are also investigating a second device. that was found blocks away from the scene. we're told that device is a pressure cooker with wires attached to a cell phone. but at this point officials have not confirmed if that pressure cooker was, in fact, an explosive. residents in that area being asked to stay away as the investigation unfolds. and we, of course, will continue to follow that for you.

we had a beautiful day yesterday. i'm told. i napped through most of it. antoinette: he really did. he told me his napping schedule. todd: i napped here before i felt safe to drive home. antoinette: then he went back to sleep. mike: today's the day you should be sleeping. todd: today's football game. mike: get a nap in before the game. we have some showers. most of us won't see anything, but we will get a chance of showers. most of it will be tonight and ends tomorrow morning. why do we need the rain? it's pretty obvious. look at inches dry for the year. you realize we've only picked up 2/3 of the amount of rain we're supposed to get in a given year? any moisture we get is going to be welcomed. this is not a drought buster. we had a few scattered showers. the trend is lifting north. i don't think in the eastern part of the state we'll see much. we may get a little sunshine this morning before the clouds fill in. this first batch is lifting its way northward. there's going to be several opportunities over the next 24

humid conditions in place. high pressure offshore scooping up all this soupy air. yesterday was so comfortable because humidity was so low. today if you walk outside, it's muggy. there's a cold front to the west. it's way out here. we're getting ahead of it a little bit of rain, showers, maybe even a rumble of thunder. what's the timeline? i'm going to break it down, show you exactly what's going to happen. here's the map at 8:00 this morning. showers lifting to the north. we have a quiet period around lunchtime. a few breaks in but pretty overcast and muggy as well. by the time we get to 4:00, there's a few pop-up showers developing. not necessarily in this exact location, but the threat will be out there as we head towards the afternoon. then the evening, not much going on. a few hit or miss showers. we get past midnight, 1:00 in the morning. see what's happening? we're starting to see more and more of this activity developing towards albany. this will march eastward. tomorrow morning, by 10:00 a.m., we have pretty good showers,

about tomorrow's forecast. that threat is going to carry through the afternoon. so because we have all this opportunity out there, i think most of us will get some rain, but it might be one of those things where you get a lot of rain, your neighbor doesn't get so much rain down the road. it's one of those days. by the way, this hangs on all the way through tomorrow. so off and on scattered showers throughout much of the day. we'll finally clear things off as we head towards tuesday. right now, it's 68 degrees. the dew point is up to around 65 degrees, which isuc than it was yesterday. the humidity is going to stay high today and tomorrow and eventually drop off as we talk about later down the road. speaking of down the road, we've had up and down temperatures so far this month. and we're going to be seeing day to day where the highs are 80 degrees. that's the key to the forecast. rain in the forecast. we're holding out for it. we need every drop of moisture we can get. that seven-day forecast that i was talking about, well, it looks like this. we have the showers in the forecast for today.

morning. an explosion rocking a busy neighborhood in manhattan. at least 29 people are injured. the fire department saying most of those injuries are minor. todd: and a second device has also been found. newscenter 5's diane cho is here with what we know right now. diane? reporter: the investigation continues to evolve as federal and local agencies continue to work on the scene. here's what we know right now. the explosion happened around 8:30 last night in the 29 people were injured. new york mayor bill de blasio says it was an intentional act but the city received, quote, no specific or credible threat from any terror organization. a second device was found just hours later around 12:30. we're told that device is a pressure cooker with wires attached to a cell phone. the device was found four blocks from the initial explosion. police removed that device around 2:45 this morning. it was brought to a department firing range in the bronx.

boston police say the men, all in their 20's, were shot just after 2:00 yesterday morning in the area of nightingale and wales streets. one was dead at the scene, two others taken to local hospitals, expected to be okay. no arrests have been made. todd: a strange situation in new hampshire. franklin police are looking for a man who pretended to be one of them. police say a woman was pulled over, asked for her license and registration and then let go. the suspect had wearing a dark uniform. the man did not display a badge. officers say this is the only incident they're aware of, but they did increase patrols in the area. they stayed with the victim at her home. >> no badge or firearm was displayed, but she felt uncomfortable and felt something was wrong with that situation. reporter: todd: the suspect could face

despite a last-minute permit fight, boston's pro marijuana freedom rally is underway this weekend, and it looks to be bigger than ever. todd: people are attending and excited about recent polls showing massachusetts voters are close to legalizing recreational pot in november. newscenter 5's david bienick was at boston common as the rally kicked off. >> three, two, one. reporter: at exactly 4:20 p.m., a huge cloud above boston common, part of what's been for 27 years one of marijuana users' biggest acts of civil disobedience in the country. that might soon change. >> this could be the last freedom rally under marijuana prohibition reporter: supporters of legalizing recreational marijuana in massachusetts seem closer than ever to achieving their goal. with a recent poll on question four showing the yes side ahead among likely voters by five points.

wednesday marked the 300th anniversary of boston light, america's first lighthouse. antoinette: the occasion inspired "chronicle's" j.c. monahan to tour some of new england's other lighthouses. and we caught up with her in plymouth reporter: half the fun of lighthouse tripping is getting there. sometimes by land. sometimes by sea. the station ends on a peninsula. >> five miles out here out in the middle of the ocean. reporter: a lighthouse has stood here since 1768, says longtime resident scott day. >> it's the third lighthouse built in massachusetts. it's the eighth lighthouse built in all the united states. and it's the oldest freestanding wooden lighthouse in the country. they brought shipbuilders out to put it together.

1842 after the previous lighthouse had fallen apart. at the time, there were twin lighthouses. they were the first twin lighthouses in the country reporter: early on, the light guided commercial traffic in a busy plymouth harbor and was witness to skirmishes in the revolution and war of 1812. today, it shines for ships coming from the canal on route to boston. once lit by whale oil -- >> everything out here is powered by solar or generators. no power at all reporter: visits are limited the saturday of memorial day weekend and special events. another option -- rent the old coast guard quarters. >> four-bedroom, two-bedroom ranch. most of our renters are repeat renters reporter: the property still owned by the coast guard. both lights have stood for generations. >> my grandfather lived here
