we have rain moving in, mike wankum. mike: that's the good news. there's a lot of broken clouds. we may get a hint of sunshine. as you look off to the west, there are bands of showers, more will be happening tomorrow morning. we have an opportunity as a cold front approaches and we have muggy air over the top of us. hit or miss showers, not a lot of it, though. here's the way the map looks at 8:00 a.m. cloud cover filling in across the area and a spot shower is a possibility. as we head through the but a lot of gray skies and a muggy day as well. by 4:00, we're starting to see pop-up showers. we have to wait until later tonight. that's when we start to see more activity going on. tomorrow morning's commute could be on the wet side because of all the showers out there and perhaps a rumble of thunder. in boston, we'll ramp up to 82 degrees as the sunshine fades away. and the threat of rain moves into the forecast. we'll talk about how that will affect the gillette stadium game in a few moments. antoinette? antoinette: thank you.

out of new york city. the city is on high alert after an explosion in the chelsea area of manhattan, sending more than two dozen people to the hospital. a second device also found just blocks away. officials saying that device is a pressure cooker with wires. todd: we're also learning that police are looking into a third possible device. there are at least 29 people injured. the fire department says no one appears to have life-threatening injuries at this time. right now, you're looking about a block away from the scene where the explosion happened. the explosion took place near west 23rd at 6th avenue. a law enforcement official says the explosion appears to have come from a construction toolbox in front of the building. witnesses say the explosion blew out the windows of the surrounding businesses. investigators have found a second device blocks from the original blast. we're told that that device is a pressure cooker attached to

confirmed if the pressure cooker is an explosive device. the device was removed and brought to a police firing range. mayor de blasio spoke shortly after the explosion, saying the explosion was intentional, though not necessarily an act of terrorism. >> i want to say more broadly there is no specific and credible threat against new york city at this point in time from any terror organization. but we do want to be very clear. the early indications, this was an intentional act. whatever the cause, whatever the intention here, new yorkers will not be intimidated. we're not going to let anyone change who we are or how we go about our lives. todd: we're also hearing from some of the people injured last night. they are saying that they beg began -- everything began with shag. -- shaking. >> i flew off me feet reporter: you landed on your

todd: police are asking people to stay away from the area around the explosion. federal and local officials are on the scene right now. there are no leads on who's behind the attack or what may have motivated this attack. antoinette: and you mentioned that device found at that second scene showing similarities to the one used during the boston marathon bombing. todd: the device found appears to be a pressure cooker. the pressure cookers that ex-sploelded here in 2013 packed with shrapnel. dzhokhar tsarnaev was sentenced to death. the pressure cooker bombs were detonated by a transmitter made from a remote control. there was a battery underneath. that battery was connected with a piece of black electrical tape. antoinette: the mayor of new york saying the explosion in manhattan has no connection to an explosion in new jersey saturday morning. a pipe bomb exploded in a trash can in seaside park right along the route of a marine corps charity run.

newton. a westbound commuter train hit the teen just before 9:00 friday night near the west newton station. police and the v.a.'s office are surrounding the circumstances, but foul play is not expected. "the globe" reports the boy was at a student at newton. newton high schools will have counselors available tomorrow. antoinette: police in worcester are asking for the public's help. police are searching truck a. 31-year-old woman suffered multiple injuries in this strange crash. police believe the worcester resident was talking to the driver in the parking lot of the b.p. gas station on chandler street back 30 saturday morning. at some point, the driver sped off with the woman clinging on the driver's side window. that woman fell from the truck into the middle of the road. she is now listed in stable condition.

boston police say the men, all in their 20's, were shot just after 2:00 yesterday morning in the area of nightingale and wales streets. one was dead at the scene, two others taken to local hospitals, expected to be okay. no arrests have been made. todd: a strange situation in new hampshire. franklin police are looking for a man who pretended to be one of them. police say a woman was pulled over, asked for her license and registration and then let go. the suspect had wearing a dark uniform. the man did not display a badge. officers say this is the only incident they're aware of, but they did increase patrols in the area. they stayed with the victim at her home. >> no badge or firearm was displayed, but she felt uncomfortable and felt something was wrong with that situation. reporter: todd: the suspect could face

despite a last-minute permit fight, boston's pro marijuana freedom rally is underway this weekend, and it looks to be bigger than ever. todd: people are attending and excited about recent polls showing massachusetts voters are close to legalizing recreational pot in november. newscenter 5's david bienick was at boston common as the rally kicked off. >> three, two, one. reporter: at exactly 4:20 p.m., a huge cloud above boston common, part of what's been for 27 years one of marijuana users' biggest acts of civil disobedience in the country. that might soon change. >> this could be the last freedom rally under marijuana prohibition reporter: supporters of legalizing recreational marijuana in massachusetts seem closer than ever to achieving their goal. with a recent poll on question four showing the yes side ahead among likely voters by five points.

wednesday marked the 300th anniversary of boston light, america's first lighthouse. antoinette: the occasion inspired "chronicle's" j.c. monahan to tour some of new england's other lighthouses. and we caught up with her in plymouth reporter: half the fun of lighthouse tripping is getting there. sometimes by land. sometimes by sea. the station ends on a peninsula. >> five miles out here out in the middle of the ocean. reporter: a lighthouse has stood here since 1768, says longtime resident scott day. >> it's the third lighthouse built in massachusetts. it's the eighth lighthouse built in all the united states. and it's the oldest freestanding wooden lighthouse in the country. they brought shipbuilders out to put it together.
