both locations. >> steve, what's the profile, we think, of the person or persons that would do this sort of thing? whether it's one in seaside, new jersey or new york city? >> caller: well, the profile is definitely somebody who is willing to map and to basically develop these types of bombs. the more we're learning about these devices, the more we are seeing there's sophistication. it research, some planning, and there's definitely a lot of information online throughout the internet and al qaeda and isis put a lot of that on the interpret to where people that are here in the u.s. could research and try to develop devices themselves. in this case, we saw new york city, there was one that went off, one that did not. new jersey, that one went off, so that's typical of the kind of people that are just trying to do it themselves. they probably didn't travel out
3:07 am
other people have done, so they're probably people that are trying to do it on their own using the internet to research and develop devices. >> steve, here in new york we say, hear something, say something. that might have helped in this case in finding the secondary device on 27th street. what kind of message do you give to people in terms of what to look out for and how to know when it's worth alerting authorities? >> caller: well you probably would -- a citizen would have seen was somebody taking a large object, whether it's a tool box or whether it was a pressure cooker, something they had to carry, and they left it somewhere. and then they walked away. now that usually is the red flag right there, so in this case, and the same thing occurred with the boston bombings when they basically placed pressure cookers in the general vicinity, and then they walked away. so that's something that the
