ahead this half-hour. good morning and thanks for joining us, i'm randy price. emily: and i'm emily riemer along with cindy fitzgibbon this morning. we have a feel of summer withs once again. >> it is soupy outside. we have the high humidity and a lot of fog. be careful. >> exactly. let me show you the map. wherever you see white, that is where we have the fog, mostly north and west of the city right now, look at beverly and worcester with a quarter mile might be tough to see the kids and make their way to the bus stop this morning. at the bus stop, areas of fog right now, and temperatures in the upper 60's, and it's brighter and warmer this afternoon as the kids get off the bus. we'll jump up into the 80s. 63 in worcester. 67 in beverly. boston, 69 and we're near 70 on the cape where we have a couple of showers, so down here along the south coast, the cape and the island, have an umbrella with you. there are more showers in the water to the south that will

and elsewhere we have got the clouds, and then into northern new england, it's going to clear out so we are going to see brightening skies as we get towards lunchtime here, boston north and west, but notice how the showers linger here in southeastern massachusetts, and then we dry out this afternoon, so from the 60s now, we jump up into the low 70s by 10:00. and clouds hang on through lunchtime, and then notice the breaks in the clouds around boston where we jump to 80, but metro west, merrimack valley, making a run into the mid 80s, so feeling like summer for sure we have got the fog and also a trouble spot you are watching. good morning. >> we're talking about chelsea, a water main break, tieing up the westbound side, right now, only one lane is getting by near murray street, and police were on the scene since midnight, so be aware and be careful if that's where you are heading. let you know when all those lanes have reopened, and we're watching the delays on the expressway, northbound side, you can see that volume, by the mall, a slow trip from braintree

on the parkway. that's where we're watching the water main break at route 1, as you head south a crash still clearing here by the braintree split on route 3. it's a northbound accident. delays back to union street and also a crash working on 95 north by 128. if you are traveling west of town pike looks ok. so far 15 to 20. 495 to 128. another accident on 93 south out of methuen. this crash by route 110, one lane there is shut down and then more delays are building down to the spotd. also watching minor delays on the green line. everything else is on schedule. emily. emily: thank you. breaking news out of france. eight more people were arrested in connection to the july terrorist attack in nice. 31-year-old mohammed bouhlel drove a truck into a crowd watching a fireworks display. 86 were killed including three americans. randy: big question did he act

believed to be behind several explosions in the northeast is charged. emily: we're learning new details about his past and possible inspiration. the eyeopener's nicole estefan is live with the references that he made to the bombers here. nicole. reporter: ahmed rahami officially charged with the attempted murder, and he mentioned the tsarnaev this is the end of the dramatic confrontation. over the last few years investigates say that he took trips to both afghanistan as well as pakistan. friends say he came back a changed man. authorities have yet to connect him to a larger network. during the takedown yesterday two police officers were shot allegedly by the suspect, and they are expected to recover. no additional details about his

brothers, but they say that he mentioned other terrorists, as well. live in boston, nicole estefan, wcvb newscenter 5. emily: the situation that unfolded at a train station is bringing up new questions regarding safety on the rails. sera congi is live at south station with the concerns of one bay state congressman. sera: well there are no specific threats to boston or to massachusetts but security is stepped up as take a look, you could see bomb squad parks trucks outside. more officers and canine patrols are also part of the plan. this was the scene yesterday at a train station in elizabeth, new jersey where five devices were discovered. investigates believe that rahami dropped them there causing service destruction for hours. that has lawmakers thinking about security and safety

herald that the rail system is a point of particular concern, because you have got five times as many people traveling by rail than you do by air every day. now, here at south station, the transit police are ready for anything. however they say that they still rely on the public to help out. live this morning at the south station, sera congi, wcvb newscenter 5. emily: all right, thank you. family and friends are remembering a methuen mother as police continue to search for her 29-year-old wanda rosa was found unresponsive in her apartment last week. her son's father, emilio delarose is charged. rose's family and friends came to honor her. a long highways of domestic abuse, she tried to force a relationship between her abuser and their son and now are calling for an end to domestic violence. >> we were always question why

we should be asking, why does the perpetrator leave. why didn't we do a better job in holding him accountable? >> police have received a number of stipulates about delarose's whereabouts but none have panned out. randy: the u.s. justice department is reviewing this shooting in oklahoma, and the victim's family is calling for charges against the officer. erika is tracking the new developments in the story. erika: the family demanding answers after watching newly released video of that video shows a different scene than what officers initially described. terrence crutcher was shot and killed. they say he refused to raise his hands but he's doing just that. while he's back in his suv a taser is launched and then a gunshot. police say crutcher was reaching for something but he was not armed. his family says a comment by a

crutcher a bad dude said they decided he was a threat. >> that bad dude was my twin brother. that big, bad dude was a father. >> crutcher's family is asking for murder charges to be filed against the police officer. also the police chief called the video disturbing and is promising justice. emily. emily: 5 investigates with trouble for a used car dealership. a judge ordering them to stop deceptivera that results from a civil lawsuit by the state's attorney general against r and r auto. they say that they are funnel unreliable vehicles onto the road. they say they sold cars with defects and could not be inspected and that the customers couldn't get their money back. >> we are talking about a company that intentionally sold vehicles that they knew were not safe, that were going to breakdown to customers.

that you would see in a day since back in september of last year, so it has been a year since you have seen this much rainfall. out on the cape, we have had between one and two inches of rain falling, and then you look at boston, and areas just south of the city around plymouth, taunton, and we had much less. under a half to a quarter of an inch in some areas like norwood. so some of us didn't do as well yesterday, and others at least will see the rainfall. it's a murky start in boston. that really sticky dewpoint temperature in the 60s to near 70, and you can see the fog right now, thickest on the north shore, and out through the worcester area where the visibility is running a quarter of a mile, so be mindful of the fact that the fog is there. down along the cape and the islands we are tracking showers. there is more to the south that are going to be feeding northward, and everything is running along this frontal boundary. this front is not going to back up to the north and west so unless you are in southeastern massachusetts, don't expect any

would say through lunchtime, they are at risk for a shower or two so have an umbrella with you. to the north and west, though, this front is the leading edge of less humid air. it will not get in here today, but it comes through tonight, so tomorrow and the rest of the week, certainly, going to be feeling more comfortable, and you can see the lower 60s out in worcester. up into the merrimack valley in the mid 60s, and boston in the upper 60's, and on the cape, you are in the upper 60's. you have the cloud cover and a couple of showers. you can see that here through noon. and maybe this afternoon, but you are going to be the last place to clear out, so you will be the coolest today, 80 in boston but metro west, making a run into the mid 80s this afternoon. there the skies will brighten up, but takes longer really until the end of the day along the south coast and the cape, and overnight, as that front comes through, the winds turn, and we are going to try things out, staying in the 60s tonight, just a few upper 50s, and it's going to be a more comfortable day tomorrow, high pressure nosing in with sunshine

it is not going to feel like it. we're in the 80s through thursday, and then on friday, another front. we'll be watching a change in the jet stream, a dip dropping down into the northeast. and that's going to bring in cooler air, so look at those high temperatures as we head towards the weekend. and we go from 80s the next two days into the 60s this weekend. a big change coming. now out to the roads, watching that trouble spot? >> yes, in chelsea. there is a water main break there, and it's tieing up the westbound side of parkway. the right lane is open. the westbound side seeing the delays have been on the scene. be aware if you are heading out, we'll let you know when all lanes have cleared. meanwhile the rest of your ride is a busy one if you are heading out. a live look outside, let's get to the maps and check out your trip into town again. there is the water main break on the parkway and if you are going

federal officials believe that the rules should be nationally applied, not designated by state, before the vehicles hit the road en masse. the guidelines include a 15-point safety assessment. a look at your economy this tuesday morning. if you are buying premium gas you may be wasting money. aaa says there is no reason to pay for premium if your car is designed to run on regular. the company's research shows premium does not increase the horsepower or the fuel economy. the that are survey $2 billion on premium gas that they did not need. >> the ceo of wells fargo bank is expected to apologize today's mid allegations that employees of the bank opened millions of unauthorized accounts. the associated press reports that john stump will apologize to congress and the american public in a prepared statement before the senate banking committee. last week wells fargo was fined

[laughter] >> no. boston? >> that's boston. yeah. but we have got the fog right now, stretched in worcester to boston, points north and west as well, and basically wherever you are seeing the white the fog is reducing the visibility. and up through the north shore, a quarter mile in beverly, so just be careful out there, the fog may slow you down but might make it hard to see the kids. temperatures in the upper 60's, now, though, look what happens as the kids are getting off the bus, and it is going to be wm the 80s, so this is a warm day ahead, and 63 right now under the fog in worcester. beverly in the mid 60s, and close to 70 in the cape where we still have some showers around. you can see them lifting up here from the south coast onto the cape, and the island, and there are more in the waters to the south so have an umbrella with you down this way for the next few hours. i would say through lunchtime, there is the possibility that you have a few more showers rolling through, but elsewhere, skies brighten up and we're in for a good amount of sunshine,

and emily and randy. >> thank you. and we are tracking breaking news on the eyeopener this morning. >> and erika has the overnight developments. >> that breaking news is coming from france where the prosecutors say eight more people were arrested in connection to the july terrorist attack in nice. prosecutors say that the new suspects are linked to the 31-year-old man who drove that truck into the crowd watching a fireworks' display on bastille day. 86 people were killed including three americans, and right now, the suspect in the bombings in new york and new jersey is he was captured yesterday after a manhunt and then a shootout with police. police saying that this morning a note left with one of the bombs in new york mentioned the boston marathon bombers. and the justice department investigating the deadly shooting of an unarmed black man by police, this time in tulsa, oklahoma. the dash-cam video showing crutcher with his arms up, and that disputes a report by officers on the scene. his suv had broken down in the middle of the road. randy.

for thousands of commuters who use the red line. >> the eyeopener sera congi is live at south station for us to explain. sera. sera: emily and randy, the mbta control board took up this proposal yesterday, but no decision was made. here are some of the highlights, the agency is considering replacing 86 red line trains that were set to undergo a 200 million overhaul. that's according to the globe. upgrading to the new cars, instead of just overhauling the difference. it would mean the red line could carry 50% more passengers per hour. it is the busiest system with more than 280,000 riders a day. the chief operating officer says that newer cars would have better brakes, allowing for more efficient travel between stops. again no decision was made if approved, it would still be a while before we could see the cars in use. according to the mbta, they

and they would be put, wouldn't be put into service until 2023. live at south station, sera congi, wcvb newscenter 5. randy: thank you. taxi drivers in cambridge are asking the city to level the playing field between them and the ride share services. the globe is reporting the cabbies want the city to lighten the regulatory load on taxis, and that would include giving companies control over fares. the taxi drivers have repeatedly called for ride share drivers to be held to the same standards ah school is defending its decision to allow a jim teacher charged with domestic assault back to work. the superintendent says that anthony altieri does not pose a threat to wilmington high school. altieri was arrested last week after police say he slammed his wife's face into a door frame, breaking her nose, after she allegedly slapped him.

really bother anyone, but karl we're going to keep a close eye on because we're going to strengthen into a hurricane and look where it is by the weekend, coming close to bermuda, does not look like a threat but out in bermuda, something that they have to watch closely. we have a tropical sticky air here on the eastern seaboard, and drier air off to the west, and that is coming at us overnight so by tomorrow, you are going to feel a big change. it will be much more comfortable the rest of the week but the front has to come through first, and we saw this stalled front re focusing a few showers here already this morning. and more of these may move through during the morning hours through lunchtime, and then thereafter we'll dry things out and elsewhere, we have clouds and the fog now, and we're going to see brighter skies here through the afternoon, so 60s out the door this morning, and mid 70s by noontime, and then we'll jump up to 80 degrees this afternoon in boston, but north and west, mid 80s with a lot of sunshine this afternoon, and we're down in the 60s tonight, and just a few 50s, turns more
