man by police. and right now at least 12 officers were hurt. emily: erika tarantal is tracking the latest developments into our newsroom. erika. erika: one of those officers was hit in the face with a rock. it was very early when the protesters shut down the road for hours. police using tear gas to break up the crowd angry over the shooting of a black man yesterday. some set fires and destroyed the contents of stopped also marked police cruisers. police were guarding stores that were looted. it was around 4:00 in the afternoon when police shot and killed 43-year-old keith lamont scott. the officers were looking for a suspect with an outstanding warranted when they saw him get out and get in and exit as officers approached. that's when one fired. >> the city vehicle.

nephew, i am concerned. i am worried about them. something has to be done. >> the officer who shot scott is on administrative leave. this comes after the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black man in tulsa on friday. that shooting is being investigatinged by the justice department. >> thank you. right now a toddler is fighting for his life after he was struck by a car in brockton. the eye's antoinette antonio is there this morning in brockton antoinette: it was a horrible scene, what's being called a tragic accident. that two-year-old boy suffering critical injuries after getting hit by a car out here in the middle of market street and brockton. that boy is being treated at mass general. investigates tell us he likely suffered a brain hemorrhage. it was around 7:00 when the toddler was struck in front of

morning there are new charges and new revelations in the bombings. the criminal complaint says that rahami was planning the attack for months. in his journal he wrote you, the usa government continue your slaughter against afghanistan, iraq, syria, palestine. also in the journal the words, pipebomb and pressure cooker bomb. authorities say the bomb-making ingredients were bought online in on devices in new york and new jersey. barnestable are investigating a robbery. it happened before 10:00 along pitcher's way in hyannis. the woman was walking with her boyfriend. witnesses describing the vehicle as a tan or brown car or minivan. >> a boston police officer has been cleared of using excessive

duty. the officer is edward barrett. he is here with his knee on top of a 64-year-old man named milton gurin. he broke his windshield with an umbrella. police say this video shows gurin fell to the ground on his own and never shows barrett smashing his head or tackling him as one witness had claimed. others did not. gurin was let go after the officer realized his window represented by the aclu. >> he was older and started to get chased and was running because a person was chasing him and was injured because a person was chasing him. >> the police commissioner says that the officer will face discipline because he should have contacted a supervisor after this happened. >> commitment 2016, hillary clinton focusing on the nation's economy. she will deliver a speech this afternoon in orlando.

man's conviction because of racial profiling. his case began in 2011 as police searched for a break-in suspect. they attempted to stop jimmy warren based on a vague description when he ran off. he was arrested after police found an unlicensed gun. now the supreme judicial court has ruled that running from police does not make someone a suspect. the police commissioner says the justices used what he calls a biased aclu report in their relied on a report that did not take into context who was stopped and why. >> police say they do not use racial profiling but target problem neighborhoods. the suffolk county district attorney plans to request a rehearing. >> it's 6:35. a plan to honor first responders. the national recognition a local family is pushing after personal tragedy for them, and this fight in a high school hallway is not

a driver slammed into his cruiser on the massachusetts turnpike, and officer tarentino was shot to death during a traffic stop in may. they will be recognized at today's ceremony and added to the memorial in 2017, and our maria stephanos will join community leaders taking today part. emily: honoring the legacy of the mit police officer killed by marathon bombers. the family of john collier is on a mission to recognize him and all first responders. collier was on duty as an bombings when he was killed by the attackers. his family is appealing to congress to create a first responder's day. boston emt ashley when believes this is long overdue. >> we work holidays and nights and birthdays and miss birthdays and school. we do put ourselves in harm's way for everyone. >> collier's younger brother works for nascar, and together with hooters the for companies

we're following the tropics. we have a couple of systems, tropical storm lisa way out there in the atlantic. it does not look like it will be a threat to land but notice tropical depression karl. this has weakened. the winds are down to 35 miles per hour. and it is forecast to strengthen, and this one could make a close pass to bermuda on friday night, and then strengthen more into a hurricane on its way into the north atlantic but it is curbing out and not going to be a factor here for the eastern seaboard. we have got the humidity still lingin drops, and it turns much more comfortable, as the drier air works in from the west and squashes all the moisture to the south. cloudiness out there, mid and high level clouds and patches of fog, and going to burn off, and i see a lot of sunshine today, we're in the 60s now, and 69 in boston, and we're going to jump up into the 70s quickly, and make a run into the 80s this afternoon with less humidity, it will feel nice, last full day of summer will feel like it. 80 to 85 away from the cape, and

two-year-old neyden tavares was flown to mass general for treatment. our partners at the enterprise reports that the toddler suffered a brain hemorrhage. this happened last night around 7:00 near his home on market street in brockton. the driver did stay at the scene. there is no evidence that he was texting and driving. he told police that he never saw the toddler, and that he only heard the impact. so far, no charges have been filed. we're live in brockton this morning, antoinette antonio, wcvb newscenter investigating a deadly shooting in dorchester. the shooting happened last night around 8:00 on downer avenue. residents there reporting hearing a handful of shots ring out. a man, the victim is a man believed to be in his 20s. he was taken to boston medical center where he died. police are treating this as a homicide. and investigates remained on the scene until 9:30 last night. at this point, no word on any arrests or a motive for this
