remember julia which was a tropical storm and tropical depression off the southeast coast. the remnants of it still have been floating around now for quite a while and dumping rain in eastern north carolina and southeast virginia and some heavy amounts of rain, even up to a foot in a few places has fallen. but as has been the case all along it's not actively moving northward. it's just sitting in place but those high thin cirrus clouds that we have are really the edge of what's the moisture that's well to the south but it's certainly not having a we have karl which is actually down to a tropical depression but it's starting to look more impressive on satellite imagery so i suspect it will become a tropical storm president it will make its closest path to bermuda in four days but it looks like it will probably take a right turn as it gets closer to bermuda. might get some fringe effects. the other storm, lisa, is not really that strong and that's far out in the atlantic. doesn't look like that will get anywhere near bermuda or the

in boston. 70s and low 80s around. another nice mild day but lower humidity today. if you sense a difference especially from late morning through the afternoon and now compared to yesterday, that's the difference. the air has dried out a lot. it will allow the temperature to drop a little more overnight, only the see the readings bounce right back up again. warm air that's across the middle of the country, and there is a good deal of it so that's what happens in the next day and a half. midwest continues to move through our area but the cool air that's starting to build north of the border and into canada that will start coming down and we'll start to feel it as we get to the beginning of the weekend and more so in the second half of the weekend. >> but tomorrow, another mild day, the only reason that perhaps places like logan airport and right on the water in marshfield could be just under 80 degrees would be because the sea breeze could set

mid-80s would be achievable total but the humidity will be under control so the patriot game starts at around 69 or 70 degrees tomorrow evening. most of the game itself will be played with temperatures in the 60s. if you're going to be doing some tailgating and you can get there really early it will be as hey as the 80s in the mid to late afternoon and certainly 70s in the early evening hours. the next change coming from the upper midwest. there is a bond of clouds and a if you showers. we may get a shower or thunderstorm here, me and then behind it is when the cooler air will start to come in. as we show you, we still have lots of clear skies for us to enjoy throughout tonight. well, mainly clear, just those thin clouds, as well as a deal of sunshine for tomorrow. even on friday we'll have some sunshine. but we'll start to see an increase in clouds and the chance of a shower or thunderstorm although it will probably be widely scattered as the cooler and drier air makes its approach into the region. official start of fall tomorrow

at 10:21. i don't think you will feel anything different when that happens. as we get to friday that's when that front moves southward through the region and once we go behind it, it will turn cooler and much chillier for the second half of the upcoming weekend as we'll be clearly on the cool side of the jet stream. once we get to friday night and beyond. that's how it looks, but overall, i have to say the dry weather pattern looks like it stays with us. we're cool into maybe even frost in a couple of spots. either early sunday or early monday and temperatures start to warm up a little bit by tuesday and wednesday of next week. >> take a look at this. it is so angelina jolie and brad pitts' divorce. to separate their wax version of the stars. the london museum posted this picture of the two apart.

i'm a public school teacher in massachusetts, and i've reviewed question 2. it will make public education even stronger, because question 2 would allow more access to public charter schools, so parents have more choices for their kids' education, and public charter schools don't take funds away from public education. in fact, question 2 will result in more funding for education in massachusetts. please vote yes on question 2

>> a new report out this week is causing concern about water systems including here in massachusetts. >> when water safety comes into question, remember the 2000 movie with the industry poisoned water supply? we listened. that's what happened this week with a new report looking amazingly at the same chemical as in that movie. chromium 6 in drinking water. >> researchers from the environmental working group looking at data on more than 60,000 samples of drinking water across the u.s.

chromium 6, a chemical that in animal studies has been linked to cancer. >> the environmental protection agency which collects the data used in the report is a bit more reassuring saying only one in nearly 5,000 public water systems exceeded their standard level for that chemical. a level they say keeps people safe. >> but the agency does say they are still exploring whether chromium does pose cancer risks, and that research is under way to determine if is needed. until then, if you're concerned about whether or not there is chromium in your war there are steps you can take, on the eps website you can look up the level in your community. >> to give you an example, here in massachusetts in worcester county, 12 out of 15 systems detected chromium 6 so if you have specific concerns, you can request testing of your household water supply through your local drinking water authority. >> very good information.
