ago, that was the hurricane of 1938. the worst natural disaster that ever hit new england. >> if you lived on long island, it's known as the long island express. up here it's the hurricane at 35. once a category 5 storm. category 3 at landfall. 120 miles per hour and gusts to 186. to the west of the track, tremendous flooding. it was an incredible storm and 78 years ago today. in the tropics right now, there a couple of hundred miles of bermuda about four days from now. possibly gaining hurricane status but maybe not. right now it's not even quite a tropical storm, and then there is lisa but that's even further out in the atlantic. it looks like it will take a track that will keep it far out in the atlantic. julia was a tropical storm and then a tropical depression. remnant moisture from it has been plaguing portions of the eastern north carolina-southeast virginia coast where some spots have picked up, up to a foot of
