>> 4:44 and severe weather hitting parts of the country. this is antelope valley in co a small tornado touched down nearby. this was yesterday afternoon. >> we haven't seen anything. >> we've had some incredible rainfall across the area. notice the motion on that. it's not dropping south too much. it's kind of going east eventually. that whole line will drop south. i'm hopeful that we see a couple of showers across the area, but that's really all.

across parts of central and eastern massachusetts, southeast new hampshire, even southern maine. and that is the extreme drought, including boston and worcester, where your rainfall deficit in boston now has topped 10 inches for the year. and that is really tough to make up. so we could use any rainfall. the chance for rain goes up as the day wears on. it's a low chance this afternoon. that chance increases late this afternoon and into tonight. it's a very you can see this morning a couple of sprinkles showing up here on the radar. not even convinced these are actually reaching the ground. you can see around the nashua area right now headed toward the north shore, we've got just a couple of returns showing up on the radar. the main area of rain is to the north. a lot of it is moving like this, coming in with that frontal boundary that's going to be dropping southward throughout the day. this front, though, although it doesn't have a ton of moisture with it, it has a big temperature change, so you know how warm it was yesterday.

again today it's going to be quite warm. look at toronto. right now 70 on the other side of that front. we drop nearly 20 degrees into the lower 50's. as that front comes through this evening, we're going to see a dramatic temperature drop as well. keep that in mind. 64 out the door lawrence. 60 beverly. 60 back in worcester county as well. cooler pockets where skies are clear. norwood to taunton. and 47 right now on the vineyard. it's a cool start. you can see the clouds are starting to ince we'll all see clouds increase through noon as the temperature comes up to 80. the chance of a shower this afternoon, but the temperatures very warm. one more day we'll sneak up into the lower 80's. 84 in boston. here comes that frontal boundary. notice all the cloud cover as we get toward lunchtime and then into the afternoon. clouds, yes, by 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 tonight. look at showers showing up. this is associated with the front. so as we have those showers around this evening, we also have the temperatures dropping.

overnight. and then notice by tomorrow morning, the skies are clearing out. and we are going to see some improvements coming tomorrow. but in terms of the rainfall again, not a whole lot. a few tenths of an inch. you can see the temperatures really drop off tonight. 40's and 50's. we don't recover much tomorrow. this cool air is settling in. so after highs in the 80's the past couple of days, we are only in the 60's tomorrow and sunday. really feeling like fall. and if you are doing some traveling at the cape, today's your warmer day. bright, brilliant sunsh sunday. notice what's happening up north. we don't get out of the 50's on sunday up across the lakes region. pretty dramatic change coming and still targeting monday morning as the coldest morning. back to work, back to school, a lot of 30's. changing are a-comin'. >> i didn't hear anything you just said. thank you, cindy. so far this morning, we have overnight construction in place, what's left. here it is on the pike. you can see flashing lights. that will be gone in a few minutes.

as you travel into town, construction clearing on 93 south. then again as you travel the expressway near the o'neill tunnel. route 3 is quiet. no problems on 24 or 95. then there is some construction on 128 by highland avenue. as you head north to town, we're watching road work on the southbound side of 128. so far trains and buses we're expecting them to start the morning on schedule. big changes are coming to 128. lanes will be diverted through an entire weekend in november. the state will be tearing and it's unsafe for cars to drive below the demolition project. the closure is the first weekend in november. drivers will be detoured through neighborhoods or temporary lanes next to existing ones. >> what we're going to do is actually divert the highway up the ramp and then down the other side. so the highway's going from three lanes to two lanes, and they'll just be diverted up and over. >> it's part of a road widening

number of heart transplants are taking place at tufts. better technology, partnerships, and more donor registrations are leading to that milestone. so is the opioid crisis. 43 people have received heart transplants at tufts, breaking a 25-year record for new england hospitals. about 30% of those hearts came from people who died from an overdose. doctors say better screening techniques for diseases make it possible to accept hearts that would have once been rejected. recipient about the potential risks involved. there may be some risk there. it may be small. but there's a good risk you're going to die on the list waiting if we don't take this. >> five years ago, only five transplanted hearts in new england came from an overdose victim. doctors say more than 90% of recipients will live another year. >> trending stories -- a 6-year-old new york boy makes a plea to the president to help
