cindy fitzgibbon. friday, the weekend is here. >> friday, fall, our first weekend of fall. it's going to feel like it this weekend. >> okay. >> not going to feel like it today. one more day in the 80's. we're getting off to a cool start in a few spots. you can see a lot of 50's on the cape and south of boston where skies are still clear. on the north shore and into boston, worcester, we are running in the 60's. you can see clouds advancing along and north of the pike. a couple of sprinkles showing up hampshire trying to work toward the north shore, not convinced these are reaching the ground, but you can see there are more organized showers to our north, and these are coming along a frontal boundary. this front is going to mark a dramatic temperature change for your weekend as it comes through. our chances of rain are going up towards this evening. clouds thicken up through the day. notice how temperatures jump up into the 80's. by 5:00 p.m., there could be a

drugstore. >> antoinette antonio is at the scene where police say this was not random. >> the victim was just 18 years old, and police say he was targeted. the shooting happened inside this busy cvs here in stoughton on central and washington streets, sending customers running out the door yesterday afternoon. police say the victim got into an argument with those three suspects when one of them pulled out a gun, firing twice. was holding his shoulder, and then he was standing up. he seemed okay. >> the victim was taken to a brockton hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. the suspects are in their late teens or early 20's. police say there is surveillance video of this confrontation. it's unclear if those suspects came looking for the victim, if

this shooting. but the search is still on for those three suspects. antoinette antonio, wcvb, newscenter 5. >> antoinette, thank you. protestors break an overnight curfew in charlotte, north carolina. the demonstrators peaceful after two nights of violence. the family of the man who was shot and killed by police say they have seen video of the incident and erika tarantal tracking the incidents. >> demand of protestors who stayed out past the curfew, but officers holding back making arrests to maintain a fragile calm after two nights of widespread destruction of property and violence including the shooting death of one protestor by another. heavily armed members of the national guard stood watch over businesses. that protection and protestors working with officers really helps. >> it's been a very peaceful group tonight.

manslaughter. >> all clear at new york's laguardia airport after an abandoned s.u.v. caused panic. police evacuated one terminal. officers noticed that unattended s.u.v. a port authority spokesman says the terminal was evacuated about an hour. nothing suspicious about the vehicle. the s.u.v. was towed from the airport. it is not known who left it there. a a construction zone in lexington. this happened around 10:30 last night, follen road. the driver did stay at the scene. there's no word on any charges or citations. >> 3-0, the patriots getting it done thanks in part to third string quarterback, jacoby brissett. in his first start, brissett helped tear through the texans

but behind this front, much cooler air is going to be working in. you can see the drop from 70 in toronto down to 52 in sault ste. marie. in the 60's from boston up through the north shore back into worcester county. 62 worcester. south of town from norwood down to taunton, 50 degrees, 48 on the vineyard. skies are still pretty clear re temperatures have been dropping. clouds increasing from the north and west. that trend is going to continue. so only partial sunshine into the afternoon. i think more clouds than sun overall, but it's a southwesterly wind that will allow us to warm up before any of those showers get in here this evening. our high temperatures making that run into the 80's one more day. then as this front drops through, it's going to start to cool down. notice through noontime, it's dry. then even as we get toward midafternoon, it's dry. by 5:00, 6:00, north shore, southern new hampshire, here

construction clear. 93 south approaching the zakim and the expressway by the o'neill tunnel. south of town, route 3, 93, and the road work is gone by highland avenue. heading north of town, construction has cleared on 128 south by route 2 and also by route 3. trains and buses starting the morning on schedule. some big changes coming to 128. lanes diverted over an entire weekend. crews will be tearing down the old highland avenue bridge. it below that demolition project. the closure happens over the first weekend in november. drivers will be detoured through neighborhoods nearby or along a new temporary lane next to the existing one. >> what we're going to do is actually divert the highway up the ramp and then down the other side. so the highway's going from three lanes to two lanes, and they'll just be diverted up and over. >> it's all part of a road widening project that will add an additional lane to 128. emily?
