we know inside the 20 yard line if he gets one-on-one he's got a ridiculous vertical, he's a great basketball player, a heck of a receiver. if he got a chance to get one-on-one, we're going to let him get it. >> samantha: how much pressure was there by ryan on that last drive after a rough start. >> samantha: pressure is imagined. it's not a real thing. we run the plays that we know. he went out there, executed. i have a list of plays that we try to get completions. we ran the ball a couple times. irwin came through big in this game. we knew we had a chance to win it. >> samantha: obviously you got the win that's most important but how would you describe what you were up against tonight? >> this is what we expected. as i said at halftime, we have a young team, not necessarily young but inexperienced. this is a new environment for these guys.
11:31 pm
this is a very good, talent football team. i'll say on national tv, jim mora doesn't get the respect he deserves. you look at the program. these guys are physical, play hard, they got a phenomenal quarterback. they're probably going to beat him up for this game but his kids played extremely hard. we tip our caps to ucla. >> samantha: a classy response. coach, we appreciate your time. >> chris: a tradition harbaugh brought back as they hail >> kirk: this last drive set up by this. they were going to start at about their own 15 yard line. instead at their own 30 yard line. then you see burns make some plays, finding open receivers, showing great poise. he said david shaw, everybody talks about practicing this. it's one thing to practice it. it's another to hit the rose bowl and have to execute it and make that throw right there to a receiver that for the most part
11:32 pm
he steps up at a crucial moment and makes the play to give the cardinal a victory. >> chris: he said pressure is imagined but burns who had 8 completions before that drive had five on the drive. here's the hit of rosen. picking the ball up and scoring a touchdown is solomon thomas. it's two touchdowns in the last 24 seconds. that defensive score will be taken note of in the desert. they have face a series challenge in seattle friday. they're not worried about that at the moment. sam has christian mccaffrey. >> samantha: you're uniform shows it. this was a rough night in terms of physicality. how would you describe what you were up against? >> we knew they were going to be extremely physical. it comes down to just penalties
11:33 pm
marcus la trel said you're never out of the fight and we never gave up. we came in down, a tough place to play. knew that we had to do a lot. you got a young receiver that comes out at the end and makes a hell of a play and that's the kind of stuff that great teams have. we have to bounce back and be a lot better. >> samantha: what is it about this team that stays even keeld when at the end it didn't look like it was going to finish this way? >>ha throughout the off season. our strength coach trains us for times like these, times of adversity. we stick to our training and our gut and what we know. >> samantha: congratulations on a great win. the streak remains. >> chris: it does. 138 yards rushing. you say ho hum when you see that, mccaffrey and how productive he typically is. his streak of games with 200 yards all purpose or more, 8 in
11:34 pm
it was that kind of a night. >> kirk: this is a huge win for stanford but i think it's also big for them for the big picture. it's only their third game of the year. think about what they've done here in the early going. they've played a kansas state team, usc and now ucla. they've been challenged. i think as you look at this team as a threat to maybe win a pac 12 championship and maybe a playoff team, you actually need are playing as we saw in that final drive that have never been out here. when you make these plays, it gives you such confidence when you can face adversity and come through. not only did they beat ucla on the road, it gives them incredible confidence and momentum going into next friday in seattle which will be another tough conference game against the huskies. >> chris: another big challenge
11:35 pm

it is kind of chilly tonight. might want to grab a sweater or jacket if you're going for an early morning run or whatever. got a northerly flow over the top of us and not a cloud to be found. however, get out to the west and you see a line of showers and thunderstorms. that is going to get in here but not until tuesday so between now and tuesday you got lots of sunshine. cool temperatures to talk about. here's why it feels so cool. yesterday was 82. today just 67 for a high. you see the big difference we had going on there. we actually got use today some pretty warm temperatures this this is where we're supposed to be with the cool temperatures and the clear skies out there right now. 56 degrees. look at the number. dew point. this is how much moisture is in the air. remember when it was at 70 and we said this is awful? it got down to 50 and we said that feels pretty good. at 39 we're really talking about dry air over the top of us. that allows the temperatures to drop off dramatically overnight. a lot of 50's right near the coast. you go inland and temperatures are in the 40's and barely at that. already dropped down to 41 degrees.
12:02 am
over is going to get cold. norwood already down to 39 degrees. the city is still retaining the heat a little bit. worcester still at 52. boston, 56. how cold will it get tonight? a lot of the temperatures will drop into the upper 40's including the city. as you get away from the city we'll see a lot more 30's showing up overnight tonight. that is the reason that frost advisory is out until 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. you see where it goes up here. up the 495 just around the city of worcester and basically north of the pike. it is not a widespread chil sinks into the valleys and you know the frost cone area. that is what is going to be happening tonight. i do think this line would push closer to the city, though, once we talk about tomorrow night. this is going to be colder out there. speaking of frost, typically in boston we get our first frost, the first part of november. so we're not going to see that for a while. even out to the west we typically get our first frost the first week of october. this is still a little bit early. we talked about frost coming in here for tonight. and tomorrow night as well. so how warm will it get
12:03 am
lots of sunshine. northwesterly breeze. temperatures in the mid 60's. worcester about 60 degrees for a high temperature. and we'll continue to see the temperatures warming up, though, as we head toward tuesday for the chance of rain into the forecast. the south shore is going to be enjoying temperatures pretty much into the 60's tomorrow as will the cape as well. here's what's going to be happening tomorrow night. tomorrow night watch these temperatures. they just start dropping off. they drop into the 30's. a lot of 30's showing up. into lower 40's talking the city of boston. chilly temtu perhaps the coldest of the season moving in as we talk about it tomorrow night. tomorrow, chilly start. lots of sunshine. 66. here's the interesting thing about tomorrow. you get exactly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. 6:35 is the sunrise and 6:35 is sunset as well. then we head for monday. patchy frost out there pushing down close to some record low temperatures. tuesday is your chance for rain. we have a system coming in from the west and it slides in here and we get a chance of some showers. much needed rain if it does
12:04 am
get a chance of showers in here. wednesday it's clearing off. temperatures into the 70's. then we get another chance of perhaps seeing a few scattered showers on friday. overall a pretty dry week except for tuesday, the best chance for seeing some rain. if you want cold temperatures the next couple days you have to feel a little frosty out there. >> all right. thank you. >> what a day it was for lovers of fluff.
