surveillance stills providing key evidence in the massive manhunt to find him. >> i saw an individual walking northbound on the sidewalk, and i instantly recognized that is the person i'd just viewed on my computer. i did an abrupt u-turn, hit my lights, pulled my gun and myself and reserve deputy took the individual into custody. >> what i saw was that there was a gunman holding a rifle shooting, and he saw me, and inside macy's when chaos broke out in the makeup department. they not only saw the gunman but the victims, too. >> found two ladies on the floor. one was face down. a lot of blood, pool of blood on the ground. then there was another lady right next to her. i checked for a pulse. she -- she didn't have any. >> four women and one man all died. >> that was us in that mall last

scott backs away from the s.u.v., but it's not clear in this video if he's holding anything in his hands. seconds later, an officer opened fire. this is a different view of what happened as scene from one of the officer's body cameras. an attorney for scott's family questions whether scott's actions after he stepped out of the s.u.v. justified the shooting. >> what we do know is the moment mr. scott is shot, it appears as though he's not he's actually doing the opposite. he's passively stepping back. >> police also released these photos of the gun and marijuana they say scott had at the time. authorities say two plainclothes officers are trying to arrest someone else in the area when they saw scott rolling a marijuana blunt in his s.u.v. >> that was the first thing they saw. but that was not the priority. they were still focused on apprehending the suspect. when they see the weapon and

say, uh-oh, this is a safety issue for us and the public. we need to address this before we try and serve a warrant. >> it wasn't until an officer saw scott, quote, hold a gun, that put on their vest. the man got out of the s.u.v. with the gun and ignored commands to drop it. >> it does not make sense to us how it's possible that this incident resulted in the loss of life. it just it is not clear in the videos that were released. >> police also say scott's dna and fingerprints are on the loaded gun that was found at the scene. the officer who fired the shots was not wearing a body camera at the time. diane cho, wcvb, newscenter 5. >> boston police investigating a sexual assault in brighton. a woman there says she was attacked after getting into a car that she thought belonged to a rideshare service. it happened early yesterday morning outside a bar in brighton avenue.

customers to always confirm a ride before getting into a car. >> new this morning -- the water is back on in hamilton, but there is a boil water order in place. water service was cut off to the town after a water main break on bridge street. it's unclear what caused the break, but crews worked all day saturday to fix it. we spoke to one resident whose business fortunately wasn't affected, but he says this is the first time he can remember this ever happening. >> but 2:30, hands, and there was no water. so i tried a different sink. and no water. 15 minutes later, a message came on the phone about the broken water main. it's been off ever since. >> the boil water order is in place until further notice. that means you can't drink or cook with the water unless it's boiled. you can use it for bathing. the town has to get water test results back before service is returned to normal. >> justice for vanessa marcotte.

again, a little chilly for some of you folks waking up early this morning. 37 degrees in orange. that's a might bit chilly. springfield in the 30's as well. worcester 47. boston, though, the urban heat island we call it, it's full of asphalt and cement, and that retains the heat from the day. so we're only 50 right now. 45 in plymouth. we've got clear skies. it is gorgeous outside right now. low humidity. very comfortable. again, some of you with your nd with a little frost on the nose this morning. there's some shower activity out toward the midwest, though, we're keeping an eye on. the timing of that looks to be tuesday. until then, high pressure running the show, that means a bountifully sunny day with generally light winds. temperatures coolest across the northeastern u.s. as i step away, we see 60's and 70's building into the upper midwest ahead of those showers.

so the cool air sticks around for a couple of days. as this warm front starts to move through, we'll start a warm-up and a turn toward more humidity. that's not going to happen any time soon as we take you through tomorrow, still looking great. it's tuesday when that warm front comes through. scattered showers along another cold front that will be back off to the west, and in between the two, it turns humid as well. you'll notice a big change coming our way monday night and on into tuesday. that's the next c be sticking around through most of the day on tuesday. behind it, though, temporarily drying out as we head into wednesday. but at last we're getting way ahead of ourselves. let's get through today first. 60 to 65 degrees. that's it for today. with a gusty at times wind coming in out of the north and west coupled with low humidity, we're talking about an elevated fire risk for today as well. don't plan on doing much in the way of birding if you're trying

electrical fire. the fire started in a breaker and caused a small but smoky fire. nobody was hurt, but two workers were sent to the hospital to get checked out. the power station says it was strictly an equipment failure and no customers were affected. >> today, military leaders will dedicate an official memorial to the state's gold star families. the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff will be the keynote speaker at today's event at bicentennial park in fall river. the memorial has four panels patriotism and sacrifice. a section of stone is cut out in the shape of a soldier. >> janitors who work in thousands of office buildings around boston voting to authorize a strike if there's no new contract. they held a rally two weeks ago. a big issue here, negotiations is the cost of living in boston and adding more full time positions. the state house and the john hancock building would be affected by that strike.
