methuen, two accidents, one by route 110 and another by 133, so if you are head that go way, expect the lane to be closed for both. once you get past it, more delays down to the spot pond, so far, trains and buses, no problems there, and they are operating on schedule. >> thanks so much, breaking news, firefighters on the scene of a fire at an abandoned school building in pittsburgh. the fire breaking out on academy street. firefighters had to strike four alarms. we're told that luckily injuries. we'll bring you more information as we get it. >> right now we're just hours away from a critical moment in the race for the white house. >> for the first time, the two candidates will share one stage, and this morning, the stakes could not be higher. >> hillary clinton and donald trump, facing off for their first one-on-one debate tonight in new york. home turf for both of them. we got a look as workers put the touches on the time stage at hofstra, long island, this first debate between clinton and trump will be divided into six

trying to kill her, a responding officer was confronted by that woman. she allegedly ignored his orders, and he had to shoot her in the stomach. >> i saw her laying on the ground, and like she had an oxygen mask on, and you could see like the blood on her shirt. >> we are told the woman does have a history of depression. this morning she's still at the hospital facing charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, although the condition is unclear. that means that it's unclear when she will face those charges. we're live in weymouth this morning. randy: thank you. grief counselors will be on hand in grafton today after a tragic accident taking the life of a five-year-old boy, a minivan hit the child near his home at the lord veil acres complex, shortly after that, a priest arrived to offer comfort to family and friends.

>> and today the world of sports is mourning the loss of two figures. one who changed his sport forever and another who had barely begun what was sure to be a remarkable career. palmer is credited with bringing golf to the masses. he died of heart complication, he was 87, palmer, known as the king, won seven championships, but his reach went further still, pioneering the sports marketing we know today, and that's helped the athletes reap millio and the miami marlins will be back on the field today after the loss of one of their own. this morning investigators probing the boat crash that killed jose hernandez and two friends. the victims were going full speed when they hit a jetty and it flipped over. the marlins had a press conference hours after the crash.

see. you watch the kids play little league and the passion that he felt about playing. >> fernandez was just 24 years old. he had escaped cuba after several attempts, at just 15. teams around the league held moments of silence. the red sox david ortiz, a friend of fernandez,rc pain. >> police are looking for a suspect after six people were stabbed with knives and broken bottles. it happened in the theater district. a witness tells the globe the fight involves nearly 30 men in front of this club. two of the victims required surgery. it is not clear what started the brawl. everyone involved is expected to recover. and right now, friends and family are guess separate to

student. he's gone missing in new york city. zachary vanished a week ago, the 25-year-old is a grad student at bu. he was in new york to pick up his double base from a friend. he was last seen leaving the w. hotel in-man's east side. he was diagnosed at bipolar in 2013 according to his friends. he disappeared in boston before but never for this amount of in charlotte, north carolina. the mayor lifting the curfew after days of protests. the demonstration followed the killing of a black man by police officers. 43-year-old keith lamont scott was shot outside his suv, which was parked near his apartment complex. police claim that scott was armed while residents say that he was not. video of the shooting was released by police on saturday but does not appear to settle that issue. >> a delta flight forced to land

berkshires and southwest new hampshire, the first week or so of october, which you know, that's not of that away, octobet early for this time of year to be talking about the frost, but freeze warnings across northern new england locally, and yeah, frost advisory, primarily along and outside of 495, so a lot of you in worcester county but also the cold pockets in the low lying spots south of town where the cold air pools and rains down, and typically where we see norwood and taunton on the map showing up col 37 now, all the way down to the south coast and new bedford, and then to the vineyards, 39 in falmouth, and boston 48, but it's just checking, that appears to be the coldest that we have been since may 16, we're down to 49 yesterday morning, so 48 this morning, 47 in worcester, and look at keenan, orange, and jeffrey, as well, nashua 35, and on the north shore of beverly 39, so it's chilly here, right, look off to the west.

65 in cincinnati. and that's a bit of milder air coming out ahead of a frontal boundary producing showers. we're going to get both tomorrow. in on the showers, and we're going to warm up the temperatures, but clear skies now, and sunshine all day long, and the winds are light, so by noon, they are coming in, the sea breeze today, low 60s at the coast, 64 in boston and notice inland, a few degrees milder, 67 in nashua and 68 in taunton. tonight we fall back only into the 50s around, and you can see by 5:00 tomorrow, showers approaching into the worcester area, and this does come through quickly by the afternoon hours. , the front has passed so the potential is there for a quarter to a half an inch of rain with this system. in terms of timing the rain, i think the morning hours are the wettest time period. impacts on the morning commute for sure, six through 9:00, and by the time that we get towards later morning and into

and then during the afternoon it's drier but clouds may linger, and that trend will be with us. the front backs on up and we get into this weather pattern, so a lot of clouds and the chance for some showers on wednesday, thursday, and friday and saturday. let's get you out to the roads. you will need the heaters on. >> and pack your patience. here's the northbound side, and you can see they have a crash here that they are clearing, it's partially right lane. several vehicles involved and you have got a heavy backup back to the braintree split on the northbound side. so if you are heading this way, budget in that extra travel time. that crash is northbound, and you do have one lane shut down at this point, and those delays, a half-hour, back into braintree. once you get south of town, 24 heavy out of brockton, route 3 slow from weymouth, with the crash gone, and 95 northbound heavy out of sharon and your ride eastbound, 15 to 20, 495 to 128.

learn his future. >> sera congi is live to set the stage for the sentencing. sera? >> erika and randy, peter castillo will be sentenced this morning. more than four years after the murder took place in a garage. the 28-year-old was found guilty of first degree murder. he now faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. he was convicted of shooting steven perez in the back during perez was an army sniper who served in iraq and afghanistan. he went into hiding before being arrested, and brought back to the u.s. last year. that sentencing hearing gets underway at 10:00 this morning. live at the suffolk superior courthouse, sera congi, wcvb newscenter 5. randy: a connecticut man is recovering after he was found live more than a week after vanishing at sea.

inflatable life raft. he and his mom linda were reported missing last sunday when they did not come back from a fishing trip off the coast of rhode island. the coast guard had searched roughly 60,000 square miles for the two of them, suspending the effort on friday. the coast guard says nathan doesn't have fully life threatening injuries. no word on when carmen might be. >> boston is considering a new overhaul to deal w the idea is to create elementary schools that end at great six and high schools that start at grade seven. they say it could boost the quality of education for middle school students. the plan is expected to be presented next month. and today the state is set to release the results of the parcc and mcas examents. it will show which are labeled as underperforming and which

the state plans to launch a new test that's a combination. exams. >> firefighters are investigating a fire in greenfield. the massachusetts state police employee was among the victims. brian tower is his name. he serviced radio systems and worked with the state police for 28 years. yesterday's fire on meridian street also took the life of his wife, and her son and her five-year-old grandson. the firefighters got to the scene. the flames were no word this morning on what may have started the fire. >> it's 6:36. commitment 2016 with some tame races in massachusetts. the reason for the quiet election season here, and also a dedication for the victims of the marathon bombings, the tribute meant to give peace and encourage it, and we continue to follow breaking news right now in fitsberg. there is a school closed today because of this fire.
