>> from boston's news leader, this is wcvb newscenter 5 at noon. erika: we begin with breaking news. a man found in the life raft 100 nautical miles from martha's vineyard after his mother's boat sank finally back on solid ground. nathan carman was missing for a week for being rescued by a passing freighter. his mother is still missing and presumed dead. thank you for joining us. heather: carmen is talking to the coast guard. sera congi was at the dock when he arrived.

survivors debrief. rescue boaters will go through. the coast guard to find out exactly what happened on his boat as well mother who is presumed dead. wearing a white suit, nathan carman stepped down the orient lucky, the friendship that rescued between the two-year-old sunday. carmen climbed onto a coast guard boat in boston harbor which brought him back to shore after his mysterious journey. he surviving for a week on a life raft with food and water. carman and his mother went fishing when the coast guard said their boat sank off the coast of new york. carmen reported getting into his life raft but no sign of his mother. >> it was reported when the boat started taking on water he got his life raft, he went looking for his mom to get into the liferaft and he could not find

low 70's today. as we get into tonight after some early clearing, clouds offshore will start to back in and we are making up this waking up to murky skies. erika: boston police are searching for suspects in a deadly shooting in jamaica plain . officers were called to the street just been from the jackson square t stop. police found a man suffering several gunshot wounds to hospital. he was pronounced dead. police are looking for surveillance video for any clues that might lead to an arrest. heather: a massachusetts state police trooper accused of beating a police chase suspect enhancer earlier this year has been indicted. trooper joseph flynn is accused of assault charges in the may 11 arrest of richard simone. simone was seen apparently

a couple of raindrops in the outermost cape in nantucket learned the rains pushed east of you in the vineyard and this is the last batch. everything shifting out in this direction and it is lined up a frontal boundary. the front is getting ready to cross you on the cape. it's only going to get so far and it's on to stall as it runs at the high-pressure. we are seeing clearing with trier air working into the west. boston on north and west and we still have souwe cape and the northwesterly wind is bringing in drier air. you can see patches of blue among the white and we will see breaks of blue throughout the rest of the afternoon. 69 degrees. this number, probably the highest it's going to be this week. today will be the warmest day we have left this week.

degree-mark from norwood the taunton and in the mid-60's at the cave where we are in the clouds. by 3:00 this afternoon would a lot of clouds around the cape but elsewhere, brighter skies. give her into the evening hours notice how we try to clear out. that will be temporary. this bank of clouds coming down off the ocean. it starts to back in. the wind will shift to the northeast and that will bring low-level moisture off thece overnight temperatures drop back into the 50's on average. with this front kind of stalled out along the coastline is going to keep clouds around and this northeasterly wind start to freshen up and that wind direction is not going to be a good combination. it could be cloudy, cool and damp. these are the highs. we are starting out in the 50's

wind is going to be gusting at times over 20 miles per hour along the coastline. it's doing the same thing on thursday so we are setting up with a stalled out with a pattern that's going to keep as unsettled with a lot of clouds and gusty wind along the coast. we have a tropical wave that is forecast to strengthen likely becoming matthew. toward the caribbean pen they make a turn toward the but not -- toward the bahamas. and damp. i don't expect much more than periodic drizzle. this is the setup with cutoff low pressure just spinning to our south and west for the next several days it's going to be the end of the weekend before it starts to lift out and our weather improves. friday night to saturday we may get organized showers and behind that some improvements, but it's going to be a long unsettled
