5:18 pm
it will be for a while. >> when will it break? >> early next week is the big break. >> sunday will be nice? >> might be pushing it a little bit. >> actually tomorrow i think some places will brighten up for a while. we'll show you that but right now it's 57 in boston. but that northeasterly wind at 17 miles per hour cuts through you and after such a warm summer and so many 90 degree days, with a northeast wind, certainly feels chile by comparison. it's 60 in hyannis and those winds are gusting. look at the gusts in worcester, providence, plymouth, hyannis, block island, 30 miles per hour. you see it's a little brighter off to the north. however, although you can see some of the clouds coming in from the northeast, then you also see clouds coming in from the southwest. these are higher level clouds. these are the low-level clouds. but in northern new england, where they are closest to the high pressure area they are seeing some sunshine or have been but now we have that
5:19 pm
there is the sunshine i'm talking about. but then again, we're not that far away from that but we're not that far away from this. so it's kind of a battle. i think in the shorter term meaning tomorrow, most of us will be rain-free. enough dry air may work in for some brightening especially to the north and west but as we get deeper into friday and probably friday night and saturday, that's when some of the moisture from the south will take over and we could actually get some much-needed rain during that period of time. so, as you see tomorrow, we may get some clearing trying to work boston, but then notice the clouds do return on friday. here's a closer look showing tomorrow how north and west of boston, by a fair distance, it's cleared up. and that may try to work into about boston during the afternoon. may even try to work a little further south in the evening but it won't last because then the clouds will come back by friday and as we get deeper into friday we'll watch rain approach from the south and eventually overspread our region. it looks like friday night,
5:20 pm
into saturday night and early sunday that will probably be the wettest period that we'll have. in the meantime it's cool. we'll be in the 40s where the clouds could break north and west into the 50s right along the coast and tomorrow, the warmest temperatures will be felt well north and west, where the skies will brighten the most. that's where it could be well up in the significant but boston, marshfield, probably just stuck in the upper 50s. did want to mention again the tropics. this is our newest tropical storm, matthew. likely to become a hurricane, as itov there is jamaica, there is cuba, after about three days from now, meaning around saturday, it could begin a turn northward so that by early next week, it could be approaching cuba and then maybe moving somewhere not far from the bahamas, so later next week, if it has any impact on us, that's when it will be. affecting the southeast coast as early as next week. that's only one possible solution. there are other possible solutions as it may not be an
5:21 pm
so a lot still to be played out with that in the meantime let's check out our next seven days. there you go tomorrow, a little brighter north and west. we're gray, we're eventually wet later friday or friday night. saturday looks like a rainy day at times. sunday, a lot of clouds and a few spot showers getting somewhat better on monday. much better for tuesday and wednesday of next week. that's how it's looking right now. >> i'm okay with it. we need it. >> influenflu the -- the flu sh is upon us. >> the new research that offers a solution to the stress of shots. >> there is another warning about a samsung product many of americans use daily inside their
