condition but another student was taken by helicopter to an emergency trauma center. the latest at 7:00. >> right now, police are trying to figure out what caused a livery vehicle to cross the median on 195 and west point. >> slamming head on into another car killing three people inside. newscenter 5's rhondella richardson is live in westport with what we know about the victims and the survivors. rhondella? rhondella: some of the survivors are from as far away as vermont. westport them get to area hospitals. it was rush-hour, just after 8:00 a.m. and people got out of their cars to try to help. >> a livery van crosses over from the westbound lane of i-95 crashing head on into a man, woman and child in a bmw driving eastbound. the 23-year-old new bedford woman in the bmw is killed. the van rolls over killing the van driver and one of the two passengers inside.

eastbound vehicle, a subaru, also crashes into the bmw and bursts into flames. the subaru drivers escapes the burning car before firefighters arrive. >> three vehicles involved. one vehicle was on fire, and we had multiple parents. reporter: three people were killed and four survived including a toddler, a boy in the car seat of the bmw. what caused the van to veer off where you see tire marks is under investigation. >> it's jusve first until we try to gain cell of evidence and figure out what was going on and how many people we had injured. rhondella: the highway eastbound was closed for several hours, state police withholding the names of the victims and the livery company. >> harvey leonard is tracking a system out in the tropics. it sounds like we need to keep annie on this one. harv: we do, even though it's well down the road.

-- there is some dry air across vermont, new hampshire, and maine. i want to work southward but it's running up against high-level moisture that's trying to come up. in the short term, the area from the north may make some progress and tomorrow should be mostly a dry day. then eventually this wet weather looks like it's going to get here sometime later friday and probably be with us through saturday, even into sunday morning. >> maybe some appreciable rainfall during that period of time. >> so area of low pressure to build up. >> we'll show you futurecast. notice the clearing skies. about 495 north and west tomorrow morning. into the afternoon, may even make its way a little further south or perhaps late in the day or evening, but not going to last because then friday, the moisture from the south starts to build up and then that will await the rival of the rain. either later friday or friday night some of that rain should start working northward giving

that will probably last into sunday morning. what about the newest tropical storm matthew which will probably become a hurricane. these are all or different computer models clustered pretty consistently through the caribbean. however, after that, three days from now, meaning over the weekend it may start to lean more northward. get itself into this position early next week but after that, it gets very complicated. the steering currents that steer it may become weak. a couple of possibilit one, just getting left behind. another one maybe tries to make a move further northward but all of that is just speculation at this point. it's so early in the game. in the meantime here's your next seven days. tomorrow is your best chance north and west of boston of getting somewhat brighter. then it turns west eventually. later friday, friday night, saturday, saturday night, into sunday morning, slightly better sunday afternoon but you may still have a couple of showers for the patriots game. somewhat better monday and tuesday and wednesday, day by
