announcer: from breaking news -- a train crashes into a busy commuter station in hoboken, new jersey, killing at least one person and hurting more than 100 others. this happened at the height of the morning commute. nicole estaphan is tracking the latest from our breaking news desk. reporter: at least one person is dead, more than 100 injuries,

part of the hoboken rail station collapsed on the train. it did not appear to slow down as it allowed into the station at the height of morning rush hour with more than 200 people on board. a steady stream of ambulances and rescue workers transporting multiple people. engineers just getting off the trained at the time described the scene. >> you heard like a kaboo the whole place shook. >> i just saw people all over the ground and debris -- it was not a good scene. the ceiling kind of collapsed on top of the portion of the train. as you can imagine, there's wiring and water pipes, it's just stuff everywhere. reporter: new jersey transit has as you can imagine,not completea

between 7:00 and 8:00, they are hoping they will report it. a search through deep brush after young woman called 911 claiming she was tied up. officers found the 18-year-old by calling to her. in a statement, police say she had done tape on her hands and feet when officers approached. -- she had duct tape on her hands and feet when officers approached. they say her story was vague and did not fully cooperate. she told police she wave off where police found her. she told investigators about meeting different men on an online website. the woman was taken to the hospital and is expected to be ok. police are still trying to piece together what happened, but they say they are handling it as a sexual assault. erika: turning to the tropics -- tropical storm matthew is

in the atlantic. it is expected to turn into a hurricane as early as today. cindy: this is very far away, but the winds are up to 70 miles an hour. need 74 to be a hurricane. it's very close to south america, so it has a long distance to go before it moves close to us. but let me show you the tracking hurricane center. it looks like it will be moving westward through the weekend and take a turn toward the north. cuba could be impacted. if it strengthens into a category two hurricane. there's a lot of her -- a lot of uncertainty on where this is going to go. as this travels toward the east coast, we need to be on alert and keep a close eye because there could be potential impact as we get into next week. locally, we have been in and out of low clouds throughout the day

his own father. if it wasn't for a volunteer firefighter, it could have an much worse. reporter: afternoon recess interrupted by gunshots when a teenager with a handgun begin shooting at children in this playground. >> it's not a phone call you ever want to get. reporter: 26-year-old and their teacher are recovering from gunshot wounds. the kids active shooter at the school lit up cell phones across town. one of the teachers was shot in her shoulder as she tried to rush the kids in. one blew a shot in the foot, another boy was shot in the leg and had to be airlifted to the hospital. >> he was bleeding a lot and do cpr -- she might have saved the

police say the unidentified shooter in their custody is just 14 years old. they said he called his grandparents crying in the afternoon and when they went to his house, the grandparents discovered the body of the teens father, shot dead in the home. police also taking a moment to recognize the hero of this story -- a firefighter who got their first. unarmed, he tackled the shooter to the ground. >> he's a proud member of the volunteer fire department and did nothing any of the r motive or how he got the weapon, but the family says they are shocked and saddened by his actions. erika: connecticut is reporting its first case of domestically acquired zika virus. the patient in question recently traveled to florida where the very first aces of locally transmitted cases in the u.s. were reported. 85 cases have tested positive.

avoid travel to areas where zika is rampant. cindy: as we take a live look here in the city of worcester, you can see a fair amount of clouds hanging on. we have been on the edge of a cloud bank backed in off the ocean. we had sunshine for a time close to the coast but the bright skies now north and west of 495 into southern new hampshire. in the gulf of , some of this clearing and dry air will shift in as we get deeper into the afternoon. a big area of high pressure to the north exerts itself southward. look at the heavy rain lifting through pennsylvania. heavy rain through parts of the mid-atlantic states and a piece will be breaking off and lifting northward as we get into later tomorrow and saturday. rain chances are low today through tomorrow morning but as we get through later tomorrow,

that is when rain chances go up. we are dealing with the wind. these are the current wind gusts, gusting over 20 and 30 miles an hour in some spots. most noticeable along the coastline and in boston, the wind don't back off at all. -- the winzip -- the winds don't back off at all. 52 in worcester. with the even chillier. upper 50's in boston, mid 50's in the north shore. closer to 60 on the cape. temperatures may go up another degree or two this afternoon and that is about it. we will see that happening as we get into late afternoon and this evening. even though we start with clear skies, look at what happens overnight -- the clouds start to

out, we start with cloudy skies and temperatures will be chilly tomorrow. 40's and low to mid 50's tonight and tomorrow, we watch the moisture from the south start to lift on in. tomorrow, temperatures go nowhere, so we are stuck in this weather had her in. but it will get wetter as the day wears on tomorrow. by noon time, the bulk of the shower activity is still to the south. as we a few showers and overnight, rain becomes a little more widespread. saturday morning, it will be wet and rain sticks around off and on throughout the day. that is where we have the potential to see most rain. computer models indicating a wide spread, half an inch to one inch of rain with highest totals down in southeastern massachusetts.
