the eye's antoinette antonio is live in worcester with what we've learned. antoinette? antoinette: erika, this morning that suspect is facing a slew of charges including attempted murder, strangulation, and indecent assault. the victim in this case just 3 years old. this all started with a 9-1-1 call yesterday from the suspect himself. 21-year-old taj mcdonald. he allegedly said he had just killed a little boy who's a family member of his. officers found that sitting on a couch inside a home at the lincoln village apartments. the boy was conscious. he had injuries to his face and neck area. a worker who was painting a porch awning outside says that he heard a young child wailing inside that home. >> sounded like he was screaming, but, i mean, you know, just pretty much crying and sometimes screaming. but i don't know.

on the scene. randy: right now, women in one boston neighborhood are on alert after a frightening attack there. the female victim tells police she was walking on gayhead street near menden street. a man approached her around 1:45 thursday morning. the suspect pulled a gun, demanded she hand over her phone. the woman was then forced to walk into a backyard at 24 gayhead street. the victim says the suspect sexually assaulted her. residents say this is a quiet, >> i feel like a lot of people around here know each other, so everyone seems to look out for one another. and for that to happen, it's really bizarre. randy: police ask anyone who may have seen or heard something to give them a call. erika: new this morning -- new video overnight as authorities search the home of a woman feared lost at sea. it's unclear what, if anything, police took from linda carman's

randy: good morning. friday morning. it is 5:44. we're tracking the tropics in news to go. hurricane matthew gaining strength overnight. the storm is definitely one for many to watch. erika: cindy, you have been doing just that? cindy: it became a hurricane about 1:00, 1:30. the winds are now 100-mile-per-hour winds. you can see where it is closer to south america than anywhere else. but this thing is going to be strengthening as it lifts farther west. probably a category three hurricane in the next 24 hours. notice how it makes a turn. places like jamaica and cuba are going to be watching this through the weekend and from this position, i want to show
