8:45 am
and around dusk is when they want -- we really want people to pay attention to the surroundings. be aware of what's going on. john: leo's family said he stood no chance as the daring coyote darted into the yard. people who live here know that coyotes have been seen in the park and now police here are urging people to be even more cautious. >> oh, absolutely. nothing they could have done. it was just -- it just happened. and it's unfortunate. i felt horrible for the family. you know, it's like losing a loved ones. john: the owners are devastated and hoping other pet owners listen to this warning. in arlington, john atwater, wcvb newscenter 5. >> now, your stormteam 5 forecast with meteorologist mike wankum. mike: the waters of the atlantic and the caribbean have been very warm. so any storm that comes into -- building into this area is really going to explode. that's exactly what happened with matthew. here's where it is right now. if you back up a few hours, you'll see how the eye is well defined.

little bit of its punch. when storms are these big, they build and fall apart and rebuild again. we see that eyewall changing its structure quite a bit. right now it's a category four. maximum sustained winds 155 miles per hour. what's going to happen with this? it's a category four. i put the spaghetti plot together. many time we track out the models and it looks like a plate of spaghetti. there's a lot pushing across jamaica and this latest run is pushing farther to the eastern part of cuba. this is 9:00 monday. it's a slow process. then it moves into the bahamas and still some continuity here with our computer models. after that, it really starts to divrj. we have computer models trying to push it back into the coast. this is not happening until next

pushing it more and more offshore. you know how computer models work. tomorrow it can be a whole different thing. don't get too worried about it. keep it in the back of your mind that you may need to pay attention later on this week about what's going to happen with the weather forecast. right now we are talking about rain. we got these occasional downpours that have popped up out there. got a report from martha's vineyard of nearly 2 inches of rain. many spots picking up over 1/2 inch of rain so far. it's not everywhere. you see a nice band. you got a little bit to the west and very little rain fell this morning. traveling towards the boston area, we're seeing this nice band setting up across the city. some downpours. be careful. the roadways will be slippery with all that water on the roadway. you see where it's moving. it pushes out to metrowest, but staying north of the pike. this is where we're seeing our heaviest band.
