family, friends and former teammaters joined in the celebration of the 10-time all-star and 3-time world series champion. newscenter 5's mike lynch joins us from the newsroom, lynchie? mike: hi, nichole, everyone. big papi spread love throughout his career -- which is not over, by the way. charlie baker, the governor, david ortiz be, mayor marty walsh was there. two hall of famer's, tim rice and they also announced that number 34 will be retired this year. and then the red sox trotted out so many of his teammate, from 2004, 2007, 2013. we saw manny ramirez with a new coif.

dollar loss, the result of the wreckage of his casino, airline business, and the new york plaza hotel. he could have avoided paying federal income taxes for at least 18 years. trump did not deny it. ms. clinton: they showed that he did not pay any federal income tax. now. his campaign saying that mr. trump is a highly skilled businessman who has the responsibility to pay no more tax than required. ms. clinton: if not paying taxes makes him smart, what does that make the rest of us? mary: trump has refused to release his taxes until a routine audit is completed.

will release it. there is no rush. why is there a rush? ms. clinton: it's probably true he has not paid a penny in taxes to support our military or that or schools. reid: 5 investigates has learned the superintendent of wilmington schools was recently arrested for driving under the influence. the state police arrested mary delai in august 25 in salem. delai has been the superintendent in wilmington since 2014. the wilmington school committee tells newscenter 5 they are aware of the situation and will address it at an executive dr. the cape where two people are dead from this crash in yarmouth. it happened around 10:30 last night on buck island road. police say two vehicles crashed head on. the victims have been identified as 22-year-old caroline liberty and 56-year-old thomas ardan. a third person is seriously hurt. anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact police.

woman stealing from a liquor store in wrentham. police are asking for your help to identify this woman. surveillance video shows her stealing from wampum corner liquors on south street. anyone who recognizes her is asked to contact wrentham police. two lowell men under arrest on drug charges. four children were in the home during the bust. police say they found a large amount of what's believe to be heroin during a search of an apartment on cross street. they say they also found cash and more than a dozen cellphones. 31-year-old frederic facing drug-trafficking charges. reid: a 5k to honor marathon bombing victim krystle campbell. 150 runners and walkers took off for the finish line this morning, at massbay community college. campbell was an alumna of the college, and proceeds from the race will go toward scholarships in her name. the race, now in its 4th year, started as a kids run. the school's president says now the grown-ups are doing their

reid: breaking news out of foxboro at this hour. a state trooper hit near gillette stadium. these are pictures sent to us from the scene. the trooper was hit by a motorcyclist driving the wrong way on route one. presumabea patriots game. there is no word on how bad his injuries are. nichole: at least 90 people are hurt in an explosion at this cafe in southern spain. this happened saturday night in the small town of malaga, a popular tourist destination. the impact collapsed walls and counters in the cafe hurting several people inside. five were seriously hurt. investigators believe gas leak may have caused the blast. reid: from a tonight in the investigation into the deadly train crash in new jersey

hurt. so far, one data recorder has been recovered. but the damage from that crash is so severe, it's still not safe to get another key clue. that would be the second recorder. while the ntsb waits to get access to more of the wreckage investigators are interviewing more witnesses and reviewing multiple videos. >> our objective is, as always, to not just find out what happened, but why it happened so we can prevent it from happening again. reid: christie spoke about the crash on the sunday political shows saying there were several , possible reasons as to what caused the crash such as engineer error, a medical emergency, or a mechanical failure. but he said people should let the ntsb do their work and not jump to conclusions. nichole: to central florida where flash flooding made for a dangerous situation on the roads. look at this. the scene in orlando overnight. you can see a parking lot near a shopping center quickly flooded stranding cars in the water. more rain forecasted there

and i guess this is completely separate from hurricane matthew? mike: completely separate. completely different things. very heavy rains, which brings up a good point. one of the big dangers my hurricane is heavy rain. i think we will be hearing about damage in that area. you see the center of it. this is very well-defined. a category four storm. winds are about 100 miles per hour. this is drifting across the west. it should begin a northerly current. here is the timeline. a category four storm with 130 mile per hour wins cutting across haiti and cuba. this is why i'm concerned about the heavy rain.

rain falling. in addition, very strong winds. where does it go after that? it makes its way into the bahamas. this is a category storm. friday, it is just off the coast of florida. that puts it in a position where we want to keep a very close eye on what is happening. we bring all of the computer track where it is going to go. you see consistency. we have a good handle on what is going to happen. after that the computer models begin to diverge. we call it a spaghetti plot. sometimes they go all over the place and it looks like a plate of spaghetti. here is the trends. it is pushing offshore little bit. it's a long way out there. keep in mind this is a possibility.

nichole: five kilometers to honor fallen police officers in new hampshire. reid: runners in manchester, paying tribute to officers killed in the line of duty. the 10th annual footrace for the fallen, starting outside the manchester police department this morning. today marking forty years since officer ralph miller died in the line of since officer michael briggs was killed on the job. the police chief, paying tribute to both families. >> it's a difficult month for manchester pd and i would assume law-enforcement as well. this is a perfect opportunity for us to remember those who have sacrificed and to never forget the families. reid: the proceeds from the race go right back into the community. the money raised each year is given to the manchester police athletic league, which offers sports programs to kids. nichole: everybody out there not letting this dreary weather stop

to warm up. because it's cold out there, mike. but at least it is dry. we will take drive. mike: we needed a change. we got the rain yesterday. the low temperatures close to the high temperatures. it did not get very warm. it did not get very cold. we have a big deck of clouds over top of us. just a few thousand feet. we will be into crystal those low clouds and maybe patchy fog as we talk about the overnight hours. there are showers to the west. this will be moving in tomorrow afternoon. tomorrow, you will start the day pretty much like today. there is a little bit of a chance -- opportunity we should say, of showers. tomorrow, a jacket might be a good idea. pretty cool out there. then as we had through the afternoon, there will be spot showers.

look for the slight possibility of an afternoon shower. as far as the cape is concerned, i think the chances for rain are pretty limited. there will be patchy drizzle going on for most of the day. how much rain are we talking about? not much. if we are lucky, we might get a third of an inch. it is an interesting weather set up. we did get rain yesterday. up 707 inch. we're keeping a very close eye on the tropics. hurricane matthew with maximum sustained winds of 145 miles per hour. looks like a category three or category for storm. right now, most of the models

reid: to your health news tonight -- standing up after falling down. for older americans, it can be a painful challenge, especially if they've suffered a fracture in their back. nichole: newscenter 5's heather unruh tells us there is now an outpatient procedure using a small balloon to help some people get on their feet again. heather: john is up and months ago, spent every day in bed or this chair. >> he went from an eight to nine. it was very bad. heather: he hoped that time after a fall would help him heal. the pain only got worse. an x-ray revealed to broken bones in his back. >> he came and hunched over in a wheelchair. heather: he is a pain

juli: a really scary day here as people return to the cause of the game. witnesses say that it happened here on route 1. we want to show you photos we have. the trooper was directing northbound traffic. when he tried to stop an oncoming motorcyclist the wrong way, witnesses say that motorcyclist slipped off his bike. both the result a lot of blood. the trooper has been transported to boston medical center with potentially serious injuries. the good news is, he was conscious as he was transported in the ambulance. the motorcyclist was taken to beth israel. he is in state police custody and is expected to face charges. the severity of the motorcyclist's injuries are not
